Bionicle was really great at finding the right balance between humor and dead serious threat. The Piraka are not exactly the most intelligent of all creatures, but their design and presentation really underlines what a menace they are.

Really wish they made more Bionicle games after this one, a story mode based on the comics of the time. Imagine Matoro’s sacrifice after just playing a lengthy game... *chefs kiss*
I always hid behind my kitchen counter as a kid when this came up. Scared the shit out of me every time... I still have the game and play it to this day, and it always creeps me the fuck out.... in a good way though.

I mostly get scared because the sudden loud sound after silence.
Not really, they changed the whole story and made the piraka into mindless brutes. However the animation and gameplay was good for its time. Its still a fun action game and a personal guilty pleasure of mine, but as a bionicle game, its bad.
And in one of the books, one of the Nuva says something about how they defeated the Rahkshi, and Thok says "We pick our teeth with Rahkshi" so yeah. Never noticed that.
It starts off with the Eidos logo, then the Piraka crashed through the logo, then they did a scary taunt one by one, then they look over to see the "T"'s shaking in fear, with the smaller one hiding behind the large one, only to be crushed by Avak's foot, then all of them then look at his markings, and then decide to stamp it into the screen, showing the still variant's logo with a synister laugh in the background. What's even worse is the creepy BGM for them. It was very upsetting.

now that the makuta is is gone, peace was restored among the galaxy allowing construction to take place and so came that hero factory. all toa have died out and the remaining toa are missing. some of the bionicle archives are probably in the city museum. the islands have been renamed and the matoren are now people or robots. but even with the makuta gone, evil still lurks in the shadows of the galaxy. i hated it at first but then relised that it ties into bionicle.
The Piraka must be some of the most iconic villains in Bionicle lore, i both loved them and was terrified of them as a kid. One thing i like is that they turned the smartest ( Thok ) into the dumbest in the game I think its a real shame that we did not get a game about The Barraki or The Makuta of Karda Nui
Every time I skip the intro, it only jumps to the moment when Reidak stomps on the camera and then the laughter, and rather loud. It always scares the hell out of me.
The 5th movie, for your record, WAS announced. By Greb Farshtey himself, and he even released his outline/screen treatment online for every BIONICLE fan to read. But it was cancelled.
Yes, he has. He came up with the story for and wrote the outline of The Legend Reborn. He was involved with the three movies before it as well. An today he is pretty much "in charge" of the story. He has also written the majority of BIONICLE books, including all Adventures and Legends stories. And he is not an illustrator.
I remember one of our friends told us that the Piraka were like zombies in this game and that scared me so bad just imagining it. Turns out they're just goofy bullies.
God i loved this as a kid, one of the few old favs of mine i almost forgot over the days. Also the only lego (or bionicle) related thing i ever liked. Btw i just realized how good the menu theme is. Its from 06? Feels older
it's a total conversion mod, they're turning it into a HD bionicle game, island, rahi, Masks and all, I'd buy skyrim for it if I didn't have it already.
Honestly, it's best we didn't. They'd have to downsize the violence that was in the books for a movie to be suitable to children, so the 2006-2008 story wouldn't have been as dark as the one we got.
Sadly, they never made Bionicle video games for Nintendo Gamecube, Wii, Playstation, Xbox, and more consoles anymore. Not even for Mahri Nui, Karda Nui, and neither Bara Magna (Spherus Magna).😔 Besides the online computer games.
In my defense, I kept my language relatively clean and avoided insults. And only responded once or twice a day, so it really didn't take up a big part of my life :P

I'm not complaining about how violent Heroes is, but rather how it's handled. It's mindless. You just create explosions non-stop without any trouble. There's nothing to it. And not every adult loves bloody games. As I said, I'm not bothered by blood when handled in a mature and realistic way. Mortal Kombat is just over-the-top, though. It's violent for the sake of being violent, as opposed to something like LA Noire, which has violence that actually drives the story and makes a degree of sense.
it won't add to the canon, and it's unofficial, but they intend to add as much content from the 2001 story as they can, and then go on from there depending on how its received.
