The underwater city of Rapture in the Bioshock universe is one of the most unique locations to explore inside of a video game. After covering the events of Columbia in (Part 1), here is the next part of the chronological timeline. This part covers the creation of Rapture, and the blocks that ultimately led to its end.

The timeline and lore of games has always interested me. I loved looking into how Andrew Ryan, Frank Fontaine, Sophia Lamb, Gil Alexander, Yi Suchong and Brigid Tenebaum all had a small effect on how Rapture was created.
I started Skyrionn to go back and look at easter eggs and the little details in classic video games. A few new games may come up at some point, but some games can become instant classics! Hopefully these episodes give you some gaming nostalgia.

As I learn more and more about Rapture and it’s fall, I come to realize that, though Ryan’s philosophy was indeed flawed, it was Fontaine’s introduction of Adam into the city that caused things to spiral out of control. If he’d never been brought down, Tenenbaum could have eventually worked out the kinks in the plasmid and Gene tonic formulae, creating genuinely powerful and non-addictive products that could have changed society for the better _permanently_ rather than temporarily.

@UC__P5DmWaP0P8-icZmfEmiA Rapture never worked bc Ryan’s entire philosophy doesn’t work. Fontaine was the true epitome of the free market no regulation form of capitalism Ryan preached. Maybe Tennenbaum could’ve figure out how to make ADAM work but I think it was established ADAM was always gonna have side effects just like any drug. Objectivism doesn’t work bc society doesn’t run on so called “innovators” if everyone in the city is so great who’s scrubbing the floors. Look at all the gnarly unethical stuff they did in the name of innovation. In rapture surgeons think they’re artists and no experiment is unethical, look at the sick fuck Sandor Cohen became when even human beings became the medium for his art.

@@TheCorrodedMan So basically.. Andrew Ryan was right, and was a good leader. His trust in others was the downfall of Rapture. However, he also would've gotten nowhere without having anybody to trust. I wonder if there are any stories in history that closely mirror this stuff. it's really interesting.

The 2 videos you've produced so far re Bioshock's timeline have been far and away the best videos I've seen on the subject. Well made, intelligible, full of really interesting back story that gives context to the events of the games, I've thoroughly enjoyed watching them - particularly as I've just completed playing all 3 of the main games back to back. Albeit knowing the entire lore since it was first released and as being a almost spliced up insane fan of the Bioshock series, this whole Timeline series has opened my eyes in such new ways it gives excitement and astonishment as if playing a completely new game of the series! I love these games, but I always struggled a bit to put the full timeline together, partially because I was too scared to do the exploring that would help me uncover lore, (if it's a choice between escaping the splicer and getting another voice recorder, I'll pick RUN every single time) partially because there's so much of it, and there's so many characters and it's so complicated with the parallel dimensions stuff. Thank you so much for helping me understand this world that I absolutely love

This city could have been something so perfect, but it was corrupted by the parasite Fontaine (the fake one). About Sofia Lamb, I think she did the right thing to fight for her own ideals, after all, Rapture is a society, and a society can only reach its full potential throught debates and exploration of different ideas. But neither Ryan nor Lamb understood it because they were too emerged in their own dreams to understand both shared the same goals, even though their ideologies were different.

Rapture was always doomed to failure. The whole series and especially the first 2 games are critiques of Objectivism. I hope ur like 15 and that’s why you took Ryan’s ideals at face value, but Fontaine was not the sole reason Rapture failed. Fontaine was more true to Ryan’s Ideals than even Ryan himself, Ryan at the end became a complete hypocrite issuing draconian authoritarian policies that clashed with his free market unbridled capitalist code.

My theory is that songbird is booker Dewitt and songbird is subject delta and subject delta is a booker and so is Andrew Ryan and jack Ryan and Andrew Ryan is a Comstock and subject delta is songbird and Eleanor lamb and jack is booker and so is Ryan.

The best way to describe the jorney of my Jack, Delta and Eleanor: The son of the man shall rise from the bottom with his hardened young seeds, and drown in flames the parasitic Sodom above ! But beware lamb turned wolf and fox, caretaker of pigeons and bringer of crows. A seed turned angel (bible accurate) shall rise from the ashes of your home, and risk the preservation of the parasites. Unless, your seeds can learn to share your ideals with hers and vice-versa.

Hey thanks for watching! I don't think that is correct. From what I could find, that is only a fan theory. Not actually confirmed. He acts as her paternal father through the Big Daddy/ little sister bond, and I guess they kind of become family that way though :)
