The parents are gorgeous, so naturally their daughter is! And they are emotionally very healthy and loving! You have to be in this type of world🙂 And the daughter is extremely wise/ intelligent
I saw the thumbnail and KNEW he had some serious swag just by his pose. Then I started watching...soon and he started moving I was like " OH YEAH, HE FINE! I KNEW IT!" Then!...he started talking and I said "OOOH IS THAT NAWLINS?! OH HE *FINE* FINE! Had to laugh at myself🤣 Beautiful couple and beautiful family!
@@jermarwilliamson8165She's 🖤 & 🤍 mixed....So technically she'd need to marry someone else mixed like that to keep her bloodline fairly similar to herself if that's what she was 👀 for....Hopefully she is eventually able to find a good loving human being though that's able to give her genuine love & tenderness🌞👍🏻.
I'm biracial and so are my twin girls, 1 has straight hair with darker skin the other is light with super curly hair, no matter what race you are it's a good thing in life to just be your true self, love your message.
I love this episode! 😂 I have been married to my husband since 1995 and we have seen it all! Our mixed children have been told they look Hispanic! I have always taught my children to be themselves and always remember that they are unique and shine with that! Thank you guys! Your baby is beautiful! Keep up the good work! By the way...lol I’m black and my husband is white!
People like to talk down about the younger generations.....But in reality THIS young lady is what it looks like when you actually raise your kids well, the problem just lies in too many of us not growing up in healthy stable loving homes with adequate guidance is all.
As a biracial person with biracial children, I support this channel. Everything your daughter touched upon I had those similar experiences growing up. I mostly had people assuming I was Puerto Rican.
@Beauty B Well, considering the time I came into existence, my identity was selected for me. Adopted into an all Black family, Black was the race I identified with, even though genetically I am half white half Black. Having children with the mothers who are white well...I guess if going the percentage route, that would make my children a quarter Black and three quarters white, semantics.
This was such a lovely conversation. I an African, husband Italian and raising our children in Italy. I recognise that people are going to treat you differently depending on where you are.
There is a very big difference in day experience of a biracial person in the United States versus Europe, a lot may come down to the fact that in the United States we have the African-American community versus the African community which is distinguished separately.
@@robet478It's only the bitter ones that are like that.Look carefully for a 🚺 you click with well on a personal level & the rest should follow regardless of appearances.
I was the only biracial kid in my school besides my siblings. Growing up I was thinking that we are different, but I now know that there’s only one race in the world! A human race🌎💫😇 we all cry when we are sad. We smile when we are happy. We age when the time pass. Btw she is so beautiful!
I remember my professor ask students to describe themselves. Each person identified their skin tone. 🤔 I thought before we entered this world, we first a humanbeing. Its unfortunate, that individuals are seen based upon complexion. Many people have different ethnic backgrounds. The word Race was created to divide individuals. If you compare a "white" individual with a sheet of white paper are they actually white?🤔
I love how blended my family is. I have African, Cherokee, Italian, and Irish. My sons father was from Thailand. My daughters father is half Cuban. My son is dark skinned, dark hair, dark eyes. My daughter is light skinned, blonde hair, blue gray eyes. She was a red head when she was born.....I guess that little bit of Irish finally came out😂I try to make sure that we are educated about all cultures. Knowledge really is power.
I love the fact that you have taught your children that love, life and people come in many colors, shapes and sizes, and that understanding and accepting all will enrich their lives.
Being biracial is very difficult even under the best circumstances, let alone in cases where the circumstances are not ideal. For example, if one parent is racist and such
Basically Desi could be from anywhere around the Mediterranean: Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Sicily, Southern Italy, Spain and Portugal! She has the classic mix of people with African and European descent in that region of the world.
Great convo! I am Indian American (my parents are from India) and people always ask "what are you?" ... i really dislike that question but wouldn't mind AT ALL if people were to ask me the correct question which is "what is your ethnicity/ethnic background?" I love talking about my background but I think asking someone "what they are?" Is kinda dehumanizing.
Yeah, I’m sure it can be annoying. If that’s you in the thumbnail, then, even though it can seem like an ignorant statement from them, it could be confusing because you could EASILY pass for a person of African descent as well. I don’t know if you are of Dravidian descent but MANY Dravidians can pass for some East Africans, that is because Dravidians come from East Africa originally. There’s an even older small population of Black people in India in the Andaman and Nicobar, Sentinel islands who have been there for over 70,000 years.
@@kingofhearts1072 i dont mind being mistaken for another ethnicity (it happens all the time lol) i just dont like the way some people phrase the question. Asking "what are you?" is different to me than "what is your ethnicity/ethnic background?" .. even if it isnt meant to be malicious it just comes off negatively to me. Yes actually I would be of Dravidian background! My parents are from the southern state of Kerala in India 🙂
This is Beautiful. I thought that Jay was Black also and here's why: My Mother is exactly his skin hue. We come in all different shades and we all belong to one Race...The Human Race. Blessings to you all.
A natural beauty. She was once referred to as a half breed. What I admire is the fact that she sports not false lashes, false nails, nail polish, visible make up amd no visible tattoos. She is an epitome of natural beauty. She is ararely seen woman these days that is rarely seen these days. I sincerly hope she never changes.
Great Parents. They raised Dessi very well, she's so open-minded. She's ready to conquer the world. Greetings from Angola, Africa. I'm very proud of you guys.
OMG this video was such a breath of fresh air! Hearing your daughters perspective on growing up biracial was so relate-able, on so many levels! I’m also biracial, my mom is Black and my father is Mexican and everything she mentioned in the beginning has been my entire experience as well 😅. It’s sometimes frustrating that people want to know my race or background first, before even asking what my name is 😩. Growing up looking predominantly Hispanic but feeling and being raised predominantly by my black side has made me soooo confused at times. Like I definitely identify with my black side more, and honestly forget that I’m half Mexican. I think it definitely falls on which parent or if both parents brought you up with educating you on their cultural practices/ beliefs. As I’ve grown older I’ve gotten even closer to my black side, and have found solace in educating myself on black history :). Maybe one day I’ll spark interest in digging deeper into my Mexican side, but until then :) like your daughter mentioned we’re humans first 🤍.
So glad to hear you were able to relate and benefit from the video. Yes it can be very frustrating when people always want to know “what” you are. It’s like, I’m human🤷🏽♂️ Some is just people’s curiosity but others may have some ill point behind it all. You also made some great points because a lot could have to do with how you are raised, meaning if you only had 1 parent or both. Definitely could make a difference. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences! Thanks for watching!!🥰🙏🏽❤️
Interesting video. My mom is Scottish and Irish and has pale skin. My dad is Irish and Sephardic and has a dark complexion. As consequence of my dad’s family’s looks that I inherited, 90% of the people I meet think I am Italian. My mother-in-law would occasionally make quips about me being Italian, I would tell her I wasn’t. One time she got kind of cross with me when I corrected her, she called me a liar. I just ignored her comments after that. The “what are you” comments came when some friends from college met my dad. He had brown skin but white facial features. It bothered them because they couldn’t figure my dad out.
I really appreciate hearing this conversation. I have always been fascinated with biracial children and think they are so beautiful. Good to hear this discussion.
I'm biracial and I get the same questions, but I just answer the question. My mom's white and my dad's black and then continue on with whatever the conversation is. I take no offense at all with questions. It's understandable, because people are curious and I'm more than happy to represent the best of both world 😀
Carla I think that your approach is the correct one...the young lady in the video seems to have a chip on her shoulder and tries to act smart with ppl when asked about her nationality...ur not going to make many friends with that attitude. I certainly would not want to make friends with someone that acts so defensive.
You are absolutely adorable, my daughter is biracial , armenian and black , she's only 11 and have such a hard time with making friends girls don't even give her a chance to get to know her before they judge her and she has a heart of gold.
I’m sorry to hear that. Some kids can be so tough and the sad part is they get that from their parents or whoever is raising them. They are taught that mess. I pray that your girl starts to easily make friends🙏🏽. Thank you for watching.
You must understand when people hate on her that is pure jealousy , also it’s a compliment to her because if they are wasting the time the good lord gives hating daughter, tell her to keep her head up and keep a stepping and keep her eye in the lord.
First time viewer and now subscriber. Your daughter's intelligence, compassion, and empathy enhances her outward beauty. Thank you for blessing this world with such a wonderful young lady. She's a mother's prayer for her son's to meet someone just as special one day in their lives to settle down to help make this world a better place. Thank you
I too have kids that are mixed and appreciate your RU-vid channel. My kids are Puerto Rican and Black. My kids like their title of being Afro-Latino(a). When me and my ex were married we invested in our children and made them what they are by the grace of God. They are healthy children and are very respectful. Our children face the same challenges. It's funny how we have things in common. My ex is from Baton Rouge,Louisiana (red stick) in French. It's unfortunate that our marriage didn't last after 26yrs. Life goes on and my journey isn't finished. God has other plans. I trust him in this new chptr of my life. I love seeing mixed couples. It encourages people to love and not hate. I appreciate your RU-vid videos.
Thanks for the discussion! My wife is ethnically Chinese and I’m as Northern European ginger as can be. People already make comments, especially to her, about our newborn daughter “she’s so light skinned!” Or “who’s the father?”. I like to believe most people are genuinely curious but you can tell some people just seem weird about it.
I've got to say, this did kinda crack me up at first. She seems quite mature, looking back and forth between mom and dad, like she's used to sitting with two kids, very patient. She is lovely, articulate and informative. Thank you for inviting her to talk with us.
Most kids whose parents are of African descent and white looks Latina, Spanish or whatever the correct terminology is...unless one of the parents are Asian.
Hispanic is not a "look". Many hispanics have black ancestry and many of them look black so there is no certain look it's a stereotype you are thinking
Thank you guys for sharing this I am of mixed race as well I am white from my mother and Mexican because of my father. I always felt like the black sheep of the family I’m the only one that came out looking white with freckles while my siblings look Mexican. I’m also the only one born in Mexico. Lol. But seriously thank you because of this video I have learned to not only be accepting to myself but also be proud of who I am. Many blessings and love to you all.
This is the kind of conversation we should be having as people from different backgrounds to get to know each other's to stop all this hate because at the end of the day we all are human .
That won’t work, it didn’t work for Brazil and it didn’t for India, and India has been dealing with colorism within their own for thousands of years due to their caste system based on skin tone.
Amazing, I’m 61, Biracial and people are still asking biracial people what they are. They never guessed w/b. It was always Spanish, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Hawaiian, Italian, etc. I just started telling people “depends on where I am at the time”.
We are all beautiful the way we are made! How boring would it be if we all looked the same? Don’t be afraid of change or differences! It makes up stronger 💪🏽
I wish I could see Dressi’s music list. I had a multicultural upbringing. I had someone ask me if I was a “mutt.” American’s forget about the melting pot concept or forced mixtures (AKA rape). Also, there has got to be a better description than “ghetto.” Just allow people to be who they are - too much judging/controlling in life. We could all be beautiful if we were just permitted to “be” (exist/thrive).
I can definitely relate. Funny thing is I am black as can be but the fact that I'm Latina confuses some people, and I have been told by black people that I'm not black. Lol! Cultural education definitely needed in our society so thank you for bringing this conversation to your platform. New subscriber 👋🏽
I’m a white person born in the United States, with Bosnian parents and people think I’m Hispanic all the time. Had a guy at work yesterday ask me to read something on a Goya package because he thought I could speak Spanish, I told him no I don’t speak Spanish but I knew what it said. After he finished shopping he came up to me and said “I thought about what I said and I’m sorry that if I came off wrong, I didn’t mean to make it seem like I was racist in someway cause I thought based on your looks that you were Hispanic.” I never take to offense to it and I told him that I need to learn Spanish and creole since I live in south Florida!
You all are a beautiful family! I’m a light skinned black woman and my ex-husband is dark skinned. My kids are my complexion. When they are with their dad, people think they must be biracial because they are so much lighter. Then they meet me and get confused. Most think I’m Hispanic because they are so light. People are so funny with the racial guessing game.
I have a friend that is biracial. People assume either she is half White and half Mexican, They also think that she is Spanish, or they think she is Native American, or they think she’s Italian. She said wherever she lives people seem to think she is the race of the people that live where she’s at. Example she lived in Greece so people assumed she was a Greek. When she lived in the Azores people thought she was Portuguese. She now lives in California and people think she’s Mexican!
Your daughter is absolutely beautiful and very well spoken. I bet y'all are very proud of her. What a awesome job y'all did of raising her. This world needs more parents like y'all. She, had my attention when she said first of all I am human! Yes I totally agree.
I needed to hear this! Because I go through this all the time. I think you are a beautiful family, and have raised a beautiful and bright young lady. ❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful daughter with us. Her outlook is beyond well rounded because she has amazing parents who share love no matter what your melanin color is💕
Your daughter is so pretty, congrats to the parents,i can imagine her responsability as the eldest just like me! New subscriber! Love your video! Love from 🇲🇽
For the longest time people thought I was mixed and asked me “what am I?” Growing up I didn’t really think much of it because I knew what I was, am, I am human like she put it. I’m light skinned but that never mattered to me nor the people I hung out with. I hung out with everybody, every race every type of person. I love all of my friends and color never really mattered to us. I’m in my twenties and I still believe there’s a chance for some people to see that this hate fight is pointless. We are human, that’s all that should matter. Hatred should never be an option. Live your lives guys ☺️
I have two biracial adult kids . My daughter always have to tell ppl she biracial and when they tell them her mother black they get really shocked. So they both went thru things in school and even now. I think when you raise them to love them and be happy with themselves things will look good for their self esteem. My daughter really struggle when she was younger and even now, but I alway tell her some ppl just don’t know and you have to be open to the conversation with them, but most of all keep God first and foremost. You guys raise an amazing beautiful young woman.
Love this conversation. I've not seen a conversation with a mixed kid and their parents, usually it's one or the other. Gives insight on how normal you guys are. Just parents talking to their kid. Your daughter is very articulate and well- rounded. Great job on raising her!
She looks like a mix of both parents. I don't think she looks just like her mom. If I seen her without her parents I would think she was hispanic or italian. She looks like Alessia Cara. I know most mix people have that look but just saying.
@@Joseph-zd7kg Hmmmmm, I don’t know Alesia Cara, but I’m sure you’re right. I see the dad’s complexion for sure, but I also can’t see beyond his sunglasses and this was the first time I have ever seen the channel.....so I can see the mom more easily.
Great video! I’m biracial also. I always get that I’m Hispanic and people will literally try and speak to me in Spanish in public😂. I can relate so well to your daughter in many things she said.
Those people are ignorant because Hispanic isn’t a race you there isn’t a set standard for what a Hispanic person to look like . You can be any race and be Hispanic
Those people are ignorant because Hispanic isn’t a race you there isn’t a set standard for what a Hispanic person to look like . You can be any race and be Hispanic
Thank you guys. Loved your video and the beauty truly lies in the mix and diversity that we all contribute to our societies and cultures. I am from Denmark and my wife is from Hong Kong. Our kid’s were born in Los Angeles and Shanghai respectively and are growing up as third culture kids and goes to school every day in Hong Kong with 42 nationalities represented on campus. Diversity is a gift to us all.
All of you are beautiful.. My family are not of mixed race. My mother was african american and so was my father but because my mother is lighter skinned we have different variations of color in our family. my older sisters are your daughters complexion or lighter and my brother and I are little more on the brown side and I have a brother and sister that are darker much darker.. When we moved to NY they thought we were hispanic but when they find out they tell us we dont act black and we ask what is acting black? We were navy brats and were taught to speak properly.
I've dated Black, Hindi, Hispanic & White (Jew to Gentile) and married Mixedish. Folks are folks. Your daughter's correct people constantly have the questions or statements of "what are you...❓". Especially, when they see my eye color and our daughter's - our daughter's and husband's skin color. It's all about the context of when and how the questions are presented.
First time viewer and i loved your daughters insight and maturity.I have the impression that biracial kids got the bigger insight on wanting to be seen as humans becasue they dont pinpoint on where they 'should' belong between the colors. The parents are individual and thats what we as the viewers can get more inspire from. Lets be more like you, individual!👍
Excellent choice of guests. Yes, very drôle that the eldest daughter gets the spotlight, but she uses it well with strikingly thoughtful, observant, and insightful comments.
I just want to say congratulations. I think when you are mixed, it starts with the parents. You are the foundation, and the foundation must be strong in order for your house to stand. And your daughter is very strong in knowing who she is. My hats off to both of you. I would love to meet people like yourselves. God bless you. And all my prayers will be with you.
My friend is black and Iranian. In high school she dated a friend of mine who is Puerto Rican. 3 months into their relationship he asked her if she was Hispanic. He was surprised to find out she wasn't. We got a good laugh about it. It didn't matter but just his assumption based on her appearance was lesson to us all.
People have told me I talk white because I speak properly it’s crazy because number 1 I’m first generation American and 2 I don’t really feel as though I went off of the people around me as far as peer but my immediate family influences me and my personality I appreciate the way you guys raised your kids because I know a lot of biracial kids go through huge identity crisis and it’s really refreshing to see this
It's strange how people want to know other people's background like they want to label them or like they are setting a theme or opinion of you for how they want to treat you.
