+AlternativeDesign100 John Fortune always had a little bit of poor health compared to John Bird, who is still fighting fit today. They actually had to have some of their conversations written on cue cards for them to read off in their later conversations.
I attended a number of recordings of Bremner, Bird and Fortune and have fond memories of these. In this case I think his delivery was a conscious choice. Listen to the whole routine and his speed of delivery increases when his character is more impassioned.
