Bird is the word! 2 Hacks Garage had a wrench night at Kyle's Hack Shack!
In the last video, I removed the smoked limited slip differential with a spool that has a much lower gear ratio, that should liven things up a bit! Over the last year I have been making upgrades to my 1968 Ford Thunderbird that I built a few years ago, the 521 cubic inch big block Ford always has room for improvement. Well, one of those improvements I know was needed, is a new distributor. When I built this car, I was on a super tight budget and bought what I could at the time. It was okay, but I wasn't 100% happy and new it was time for an upgrade. Seeing I have an MSD ignition box and an MSD two step, it was an easy choice to select an MSD pro billet distributor. So, I went to Holley.com and ordered the parts needed to make an upgrade.
In this video, we install the new distributor which is made easy seeing it comes with everything you need to get the job done. We also made time to adjust the QA1 shocks and swap out the water in the cooling system for a track friendly "muscle car" coolant. After we got everything done, we went for a quick test drive, the maiden voyage with the new setup. I did not hammer on it too hard; I want to break the gears in somewhat properly. Now, that is a hard thing to do, this car has a ton of horsepower and torque, and it is hard not to mash the go fast pedal. All said and done, I am happy with the distributor and new transmission and rearend. I still have some fine tuning to do and a lot of testing, but this car is very rowdy! It truly is one unique heavy hitter!
