The Philippine Eagle doesn't just symbolize power and strength, but the health and status of our environment as well. Being the apex predator in its habitat, it plays a very vital role in balancing the ecosystem. Protecting this magnificent bird of prey is more than just wildlife conservation.

Just an update for the team that created this video: from the 50 pairs that was known to have existed when you made this film, it's now grown to 400 documented pairs. Much work still needs to be done to conserve the habitat and to further propagate this magnificent creature. Thank you for spearheading the effort.

What a magnificent bird. It's expression is different from any other species of eagles or birds of prey. These are the Apex guys in the skies and it would really be a shame if we'd loose them, like so many species we've already lost. Congrats to all involved in this project and others with the same purpose.

When he said why doesn't the Philippines have any of the "majestic" animals of South Asia, I felt that. I'm Salvadoran and we're devoid of so much natural wildlife compared to the other neighboring countries. It's sad we don't have jaguars, sloths, or wild monkeys. At least the Philippines has some of the most unique wildlife on earth.

I never thought I would be this hurt after watching this masterpiece; the reason for this, is REALITY. Every tree that I saw fell in this film is a dagger to my heart. "They don't know yet the dangers of humans"---one of the most heartbreaking lines in this film. The passion of the people in this film is truly remarkable! I just hope that as the population in the Philippines (and in the world) grows, the percentage of people who care about nature, with all her glory, as well as about the wildlife, would also increase. This is the absolute best documentary film I have ever seen! I am a lover of birds and thought I would just watch the beginning of this film and ended up watching it to the very end. It is so amazing the quality of the video and how it goes back in time to when the three guys went on their quest to save the Philippine Eagle. The perfect ending of the releasing of the bird on its first flight.

I had been so blessed to see this Majestic Philippine Eagle in the wild through the kindness of a dear friend in Cagayan De Oro. Knowing that he was taking us there, it was a thrill to remember and a dream come true. Pamarayeg was the name given by the famous conservationist and Doctor to that fledging eagle. As an art teacher and painter when I was living in Davao, we made several field trips to the Philippine Eagle Foundation to make my students sketch the birds, animals that they have there and then the Philippine Eagle, teaching children the value of the eagle and the rest of the wildlife of the Philippines. Meeting Dominic handling Imbulog last 2018, it was a such a great experience again for me together with a friend. Thank you for this film, really amazing to have watched this. Long Live the Philippine Eagle!

I just finished watching this documentary and I am left feeling inspired. I love the reboot of old footage and new footage being filmed to show the persistence over time to protect a species. That bird is seriously cool! And as a fellow Wisconsinite I was excited to see Prairie du Chien in the intro!

It was man's inhumanity to man that really got me going 51 years ago. But after seeing this mammoth effort to save this bird it hit me like a ton of bricks that it is man's inhumanity toward everything living that is equally as sickening. Full marks to all involved in this re-visitation to the Philippine jungles to give us sickos an eagle-eye education.

My first itinerary when I visited Davao a few years ago was to see the Phil Eagle. I just feel so sad how a few people would be so selfish to even hurt our precious animals. They are majestic creatures, truly impressive when you see them up close. A little bit of donation to help save them plus spreading awareness to the young so that they can continue wildlife protection would really go a long way.

Truly amazing species, it’s so sad that because the stupidity of us the humans we are destroying our planet.

WHAT IN THE HELL WAS THAT!!!? Sat down to clean my kit after a long day at the gun range and started watching a 5min clip of macaques fighting and this started playing after. Next thing I know I'm watching one of the GREATEST documentaries I've ever seen! Takes me 15min to clean my gear but today it took me 2hrs watching this amazing work of art. I'm gonna go complain to Filipino friends (and 3 ex-girlfriends) why the hell they never mentioned anything of this majestic raptor. Here they have one of the greatest animals in the world and they don't even know? I'm gonna force them to watch it. Then again half of them are disconnected from the old country. It's like when I come across Mexican Americans that don't even know what the hell is Cinco del Ocho or whatever. anywho, one of best 2 hours I've ever involuntarily lost out of nowhere ! Tacow Titi !!! I have no idea what that means but my Filipino girlfriends have told me that before 🇵🇭🤘❤

This is really an emotional Documentary. More power to you and the Philippine Eagle foundation.

Thank you for doing this project! The film really made me cry. Made me recall my own encounter with the Philippine Eagle. By chance, I was able to film a juvenile eagle; and 2 others playing (just like in the film) in Bukidnon, Mindanao at the ancestral domain of the Higaonon tribe. I was there in 2008 to document the tribe's forest conservation practices and that includes protecting the eagle. The tribe, lost much of their land to logging concessions during MArcos regime. But there are still attempts to try to bend their will to allow logging and mining. In fact, a very outspoken anti-mining datu of one of the clans was gunned down by unknown assailants. So our trip had to be reset. Land size is crucial. The Higaonons explained to me once the eagles leave Higaonon ancestral domain area, they cannot protect them. So if the eagle dives and catches a chicken, the Higaonons are okay with it. Better these eagles eat what they want there than fly away outside the domain. In fact, they think that's what the juvenile was doing when we saw it at the start of our trek up the mountains. It's very near the village. Definitely, no one will shoot this juvenile for eating their chicken.

My full respect to the makers if this documentary. But, just want to add this, 1986-1992 was not a Marcos time, it was Cory Aquino's term. So, why showing Marcos and blaming him for the deforestations and corruptions since it was Cory Aquino that was in power that time?

I like the documentary 'of the Philippine eagles! until marcos mentioned 'and the hole thing story's for me! become politics.. the Pilipino haters of marcos are to greedy and judgemental.. they don't want to develop the next generation of the Pilipino people.. they don't really understand what is developing country is about . Because of marcos we have hospitals, highways, schools, houses, bridges.. and many more.. unfortunately we need to accept tha fact that those virgin places need to sacrifice" not at all! but humanity now are become more and more bigger than what you think.. Yes we need to protect the endangered species and forests but not to pointing out and criticized in one person to blamed the hole thing fucking progress cause you guys also benefit from it' the thing's you called ! Beautiful! Paradise on Earth. How amazing the world would be if left to its own devices. If we were truly intelligent and humane, we would radically reduce our human footprint on the world, ensuring other species enough space to live and to let live. Alas, the hubris of our husbandry aspires rather to the creation of gardens, parks, and nature reserves. Thus have we made our own bed. Now, we shall have to lie in it.

I am profoundly grateful to the makers of this documentary. Now at the age of 71, I had opportunities in my childhood, teens and 20s to have seen things that may not be possible again to behold; or then again, maybe they will--but only with our determination. To round the side of a sandstone rise in the Great Basin and come eye to eye--no farther than 15 feet--with a lithe, muscular mountain lion; to sleep under the milky glow of our own galaxy, a spinning slice of heaven now invisible to kids living near the all-night streetlights of suburbs and mini-malls--those moments should not be relegated to a memory of the innocent 1950s. We all deserve to see the Milky Way, without the glare of artificial lights; hikers who are informed of wildlife safety deserve to glimpse a live mountain lion, safely but surely, with their own eyes, and not in the last moment that the last mountain lion was filmed, sometime later in this century. Isn't that an awful sentence to read!? YES--yes, of course; it should be terrible even to consider. Will 2054 be the year we bid goodbye to the Sumatran rhinoceros? Will 2044 be the last year on Earth for the Black-Footed ferret of the High Plains of Wyoming? The last year for the majesty we all love and now know as the Philippine Eagle? Early in this film the researcher Neil notes the power of images to change hearts and minds. I totally agree--change is not only possible but we know how and why human beings change, why they take note, listen, and act from intentions that nurture our world, not only our own selfish needs, or the convenience of the moment. When we are motivated by lofty ideas with deep meanings, obstacles wither and hopes become necessities. The best lesson we learned in the 1980s was that authoritarian governments do not care about eagles, trees or the workers who work the land. Marcos, Pinochet, Somoza, Idi Amin, Pol Pot, Reagan and Thatcher cared only for wealthy friends and their corporations. We are still repairing the damage left by monumentally selfish leaders like those, and we are still at risk from the threats of nationalists like Trump and Bolsinaro, Orban and Putin, Erdogan and Duterte, Lukashenko and Assad. Only democratic leaders will respect the earth beneath our feet. Thank you to the researchers, teachers and environmental advocates who worked on this project. Thank you especially to the Pilipino people, for sharing your country and for conserving for the whole world these incredible creatures! I'm sharing this inspiring documentary with everyone I know.

Before watching this, I thought I'd be skipping some parts... But this is remarkably a great documentary not only about the Ph Eagle but how Gov't policies, political greed and manipulation, and people's apathy can affect not only the lives of many people, but also the lives of other living organisms and the environment. What a great film, very detailed and not boring. Let us just hope that in the next decade, we can conserve these forests and breed more pairs. Let us also give our greatest gratitude to the production team and the Philippine Eagle's Foundation.

Why would people shoot the Philippine Eagle? There's not too many of them left, people should be protecting these birds at all costs, not killing them. It's a gorgeous raptor, really unique-looking, very powerful, one of the biggest eagle species in the world - this majestic bird should be a source of pride for Filipinos & as such, should be taking care of them. I was so happy watching the fledgling grow and knowing that there is a new addition to the Philippine eagle population but then felt so sad not knowing where it can go to live and begin a new family of it's own knowing the forest is not as vast as it used to be for it to have it's own 7000 acre territory. Now he has to search for that forest and that invites more danger to it's survival. This documentary is such an eye opener. Thank you for the love, passion and dedication to this kind of work because people need to see how important nature is and how it affects our lives.

The Philippine eagles remind me a lot of Harpy Eagles - which are also incredible birds.

Really great documentary. I wonder if the film crew involved, knew that the nest was built on top of the world's largest orchid (Grammatophyllum speciosum), growing around the fork in that huge tree. Plants of that orchid species are known to weigh-in at upto 5 tons!

This was moving beyond words. I agree that the Cornell Lab of Ornithology should be praised for releasing it on RU-vid commercial-free. I don't feel hopeless about our ability as a species to do what we need to do to incite necessary change in the world, but I *am* skeptical that those in power will allow us to accomplish such massive undertakings while they hold the rest of us in thrall. Here's to us finding a way to peace and harmony before we hit the *'Great Filter.'*

Countries need to weight options between development and conservation. I cannot blame Marcos for his decisions, it was also his responsibility to propel the country forward. At that time little was known about the eagle. Other countries such as US, Japan, China, Western Europe did the same thing at the onset of their development. The most important, something is being done to save them and attitude is changing towards the Philippine Eagle. Kudos Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

I watched this for the first time, and it's the first-ever documentary that made me teary-eyed! Since my grade school days here in Davao, we have been exposed to the plight of the Philippine Eagle, and schools always make sure to visit the Philippine Eagle Sanctuary of the PEF in one of their itineraries. The symbol of Davao City is the Philippine Eagle, and it is also the Philippines' national bird. I saw Pag-asa and his brother Pagkakaisa; they were still magnificent juveniles then. Just sad that they have to be kept in their 2-story high, domed cages for a lifetime since they contribute towards the breeding program of the PEF. Just touching to see how their cousins are still flying free, as can be seen here. But we should also remember that they are still flying dangerously, exposed to deforestation and illegal pouching. A small contribution to the PEF would go a long way!
