K.D. Lang’s voice and Leonard Cohens lyrics and music = magic. I had the privilege of seeing her perform live 10+ years ago and hope so much she will come out of retirement for just one more tour. What a gem she is.
The most beautiful voice I have ever heard and ever will! A woman to be admired for her honesty and unwillingness to compromise her beliefs for the "industry machine". Her voice makes me,feel, cry, laugh, think and inspires me to be confident in my own skin and life. May her God Bless her.
This lady as the most beautiful powerful voice I've ever heard. What a talent I've liked her for many many years but have just heard her singing this and the beautiful pure sound moves me
It's a revelatory performance. And it's not just the astonishing power of her voice that's so moving, but her physical interpretation. Her gestures and expressions add such nuance and meaning to the lyric. I am in awe, truly. Just beautiful.
Hi c I'm 72and I agree with you a 1,000per cent she is amazing her voice is like silk and she does send shivers down your spine and long may she continue to do so for many more years.
@@johnlamb6060 and Joan Truesdale...I'm 82. I have all k d's cd's and dvd's, books and mags with articles about her. I have been listening and watching her for over a year now and will forevermore. Look at these comments...they go back as long as 10 years! I especially love the Max Sessions because I call her basic look her Buddha face, so Spiritual, peaceful and calm! Also, her loyal musicians, who she hand picked are so perfect together...with her and them! I find her to also be a beautiful person, as I'm sure you and many others do as well. Who could not absolutely LOVE k d lang; fortunately for her and us, we don't have a choice! God bless her always!
I had to listen to this, after hearing her version of Hallelujah, KD brought it all with this awesome song, her voice cracks & swoops country at all the right places ❤
I have KD’s version of Hallelujah when she sang here in Australia, on repeat. It knocked my Sox off! You can just guarantee when she takes your song, she will do so with grace and respect & give 100% in her performance. Wonderful !
I came here after listening to a young New Zealander, Marlon Williams, sing this song. His version is hauntingly beautiful so I was curious to see what KD Lang did with this song. Love her voice and delivery and worth listening to just for the music. Highly recommend Marlon Williams' version.
This is the very BEST version of this song I have ever heard! kd lang is a remarkable talent and phenomenal. Without a doubt, she can sing anything...and it will leave you breathless and wanting to hear more. AS was said in a previous post, she goes way beyond pure magic. I truly love her music.....she is outstanding!
Al La K.D. , yes she is remarkable, even remaking this song to be faster paced, almost off hand and and just matter of fact. I don't know about the best version though... But ' To each his own '.
No one comes close. I have been fortunate to see K.D. a couple of times in the UK and her concerts are magic. So much feeling - the tears and goosebumps are back. 💖
I love love LOVE kd. She opens her mouth to sing and I am transported to another realm. She is waaaaay beyond pure magic! I cannot get enough of her incredible voice. She is a gift to the world that parachuted right out of heaven!
Do you know if all of the songs in the "KD Lang Max Sessions 2005" exist somewhere as one body of work? They all are my favorites - I find those pieces astounding in so many ways - the orchestra is excellent and her voice and intrepretation are at their best to my ears. Love listening and riding the soundwaves here...ty.
My problem with listening to k d lang sing is I suddenly ONLY want her to sing it and no one else matters anymore. Some singers, like Sinatra and Vic Damone (shows MY age) make a song theirs alone and anyone else just seems 2nd rate.
I've never listened to Jennifer Warnes before (did after reading your comment) and I agree her version is very good. k d lang's version, for some reason, seems more personal for me. Thanks for offering another singer's version to listen to.
I am in love with her, this song, there is just something that "gets to me", and I am a jazz musician, its totally out of my realm, I can't explain it. Must be on an astral level or something ...
Beautiful. I first heard this song sung by Rita Coolidge, and I played it over and over and over again, so it has a special place in my heart; but there's ALWAYS room for K.D.!
I was privileged to see & hear K.D. & her marvelous backing band in Adelaide during an Australian tour. I left that concert feeling absolutely invigorated ! This special lady, is truly gifted.
@mirakulboy You describe exactly how I felt when I saw her perform Hallelujah at the Juno awards (on T.V). It is the most breathtaking live performance I've ever witnessed. Of course I've done many repeats on the 'tube. :) watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE
I absolutely love her version of this Leonard Cohen song! She has a voice like no one else. I could listen to her for hours! She is fabulous and an incredible singer! God Bless her.....:)
