Bird's Eye View of Mẻ Pia Pass | Khâu Cốc Chà | Bảo Lạc | Cao BẰNG | 4K Drone video | Flycam Vietnam
About this video -
We slept really well last night in our lovely black lo lo minority homestay in Khuoi Khon Village. Our next destination for the day was legendary Me Pia Pass on way to Pac Bo, our stop for the night stay. Apparently, it is one of the most dangerous passes in entire Vietnam.
People in Khuoi Khon village mainly eat boiled sticky rice for the breakfast, so our guide suggested trying another local option in the Bao Lac village centre. We were taken to a traditional breakfast place of steamed rice cakes, which is normally stuffed with either pork or pork and egg, and it is eaten with some soup. There are lots of condiments available to add like lime, bamboo shoots, garlic , and chilly. We ordered a mix of egg stuffed and plain cakes, and it was one of the best roadside breakfasts we ate that cold morning. We then walked across the road to visit the local market where local people were selling all kinds of goods from fish, fruits to rice cakes to fresh tofu to all other basic daily produces. Back in the car, we continued on driving and crossing high mountains very, very close to the chinese border before finally arriving at the pass.
Me Pia Pass in Cao Bang Vietnam is located on Highway 4A, connecting the Xuan Truong commune to Bao Lac district- a border district adjacent to China. This pass is 2.5km long, including 14 winding floors with sharp bends and low elevation flanked by high mountains. It is the most dangerous road in Northeast Vietnam. With its good bends, this pass makes even the most experienced drivers bewildered. According to locals, the pass has been here since the French colonial period, though initially just as a rugged narrow road for horses. Then, in 2011, it was replaced by an asphalt road about 5 metres wide.
Unlike other passes in Việt Nam, you can trek through the forest along its mountainsides to fully view the pass from another mountain. At the top of the pass, there is a tea shop for visitors. The shop’s owner often enthusiastically leads guests along the trail to the top of the mountain. But now, because she is old, she has made wooden signboards to show the way. We were too tired to trek the pass, so instead, we just opted to fly the drone.

About us
--------------
We are Mayur, Gayatri, and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean.
Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips and some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites, and simply getting lost. Being in corporate jobs for daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
