The Spotted Dove and the Emerald Dove are common residents around rural parks and hillside walks in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR.

As for shore birds in the New Territories of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR at the beach front promenade, there are the Greater Coucal, White-breasted Waterhen, Grey Wagtail, White Wagtail, Lesser Egret, among Crested Mynas, Black-collared Starlings.

Glad you got to see your burrowing owl again! 🦉Predictably, I love the parakeet! 💚 Glad you guys had a good trip and got lots of wildlife.

Thank you so much Kate, really appreciate it. Was wondering if you recognised some of the places from video calls lol. North Beach at the beginning was one of them. And that little feeder garden with the Painted Buntings was the other.

We also have another Redstart bird in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, that is the only Daurian Redstart.

Another wonderful selection, congrats! The burrowing owl is definitely a fave of mine, but all the heron species are very cool. Loved that little blue heron. You read my mind with your “moorhen” comment 😂

Great video as always. I think your Plover at 4:08 though is a Wilson's Plover rather than a Semipalmated. Note size, size of bill/head, head pattern and pink legs.
@ickgtib
@ickgtib 2 месяца назад
That plover also caught my eye, I live in Asia and it is really similar to the Kentish plover, I looked up wilson's plover and it looked not quite the same, the back of the cape is very orange and I didn't see it in any of the pictures I saw, I looked up other plover species in the American continent and I found the collared plover, although it was never seen in the US I think it better be double checked❤

Good call, I think you're right. In addition to what you say, that Sanderling segment was filmed close to some dunes where the Wilson's Plovers nest. Lack of attention to detail by me, focusing on the Sanderling 😆
@Hummingbirder1
@Hummingbirder1 2 месяца назад
04:06 it was a Wilson's Plover that chased the Sanderling away. Large (instead of short and cute) black bill without any yellow at the base and flesh-colored legs, not yellow (granted, the yellow isn't present on immature semi's so the size of the bill is the safest ID detail imo). Edit: I later saw someone already pointed this out, so never mind! Also: I especially like that you add (and put ID on) other stuff, like dragonflies, flowers a s o. And that footage in the end, with the close Blue-winged Teals, was very special, what with the crystal clear water so one could see the duck's head under water 🙂
@BritHikesOntario
@BritHikesOntario 2 месяца назад
Yeah, definitely Wilson's Plover. As I said elsewhere, I was too focused on the Sanderling and getting in a silly joke 😂 Thanks for the comment. Birds are my favourite, but I also enjoy butterflies in particular and I'm useless at flowers so enjoy trying to figure stuff like that out 😊

You visited two of my favorite places in Fort De Soto and the Celery Fields. We have oystercatchers with chicks on North Beach now, and there is a white morph of the reddish egret making the rounds on Outback Key. Would have loved to meet you .

Thanks for the updates Luis, Oystercatcher is one of Sara's favourite birds. Fort De Soto and Celert Fields were a couple of our favourite places in Florida.

Look's like you have been very successful in new bird's in Florida. The painted Bunting is on my list, a beautiful bird. Wisconsin had a rare Varied Bunting. My recent trip to Tawas City. Someone spotted a Gray Sided Warbler and a Lark Sparrow. It was frustrating not to find it. Sometime's I rather not know because it is so disappointing when you search and search and come out empty handed. I the way back home I stopped in Pinconning for the Yellow Headed Blackbird. It was a success. Looking forward to your next Florida vid.
@BritHikesOntario

There's a couple you mentioned there that pop up in Ontario occasionally... Lark Sparrow arrived as a rarity in Toronto last year. Was cool to see, quite a nice looking sparrow. I'd like to see Yellow-headed Blackbird. A few appear in South-western Ontario in the winter, but we are rarely down that way in the colder months. Anyway lol... thanks for watching 😊

Amazing video Stu! So many species around it seems and quite approchable! I had to check for the ibis as I first thought it was a white-faced ibis. Turns out it's not so straightforward to distinguish as I originally thought ^^ Cheers!

Yeah the North Beach in particular. Camera doesn't really do the beach/gulf justice. Few more special places we visited still to come, though 😉

Bummer about the Piratic Flycatcher not showing up for you. I recently saw that species on my Panama trip but getting it in the US would be extra cool.

Yeah we were excited at the prospect of adding something relatively exotic. It actually cropped up a couple of times on this trip, but yeah... no dice

Don’t feel bad. I live in St Pete and despite a few trips I never got the pyratic but while looking for it I added a bunch of lifers to my list.
