The Western Andes in Colombia and especially the department of Antioquia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antioqu...) is an essential region for bird watching in Colombia.
In the department of Anquioquia there are several municipalities and ideal destinations for bird watching in the region. For example, in the municipality of Sabaneta is the Ecological Park La Romera, there you can see around 360 different species of birds, such as the Colombian Chachalaca (ebird.org/species/colcha1), Stiles’s Tapaculo (ebird.org/species/stitap1) and the Red-bellied Grackle (ebird.org/species/rebgra1).
Another destination is the Arví Park Medellin (parquearvi.org/en/). Located on the outskirts of the city, it is an open public park created for the enjoyment of the entire local community, national and foreign, which encourages the conservation of the region's environmental and cultural wealth.
On the other hand, municipalities such as Santa Fe de Antioquia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_F...) and Jardín Antioquia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jard%C3...) are destinations that present a complete offer of culture, nature and history. In Jardín is the Loro Orejiamarillo Bird Nature Reserve where you can see the Yellow-eared Parrot (ebird.org/species/yeepar1) and some species of hummingbirds. In Jardín you can also see the Andean cock-of-the-rock (ebird.org/species/andcot1) in the Jardín de Rocas Natural Park (parque-natural-jardin-de-roca...), which is committed to the conservation of this species.
