Northern Peru is rarely visited by tourists. In fact, during our three week trip, once we left the coastal towns we were often the only clients in the hotels. Still also in the North there are interesting archeological sites to visit. In 2014 we drove 2000 km from Lima to Tarapoto in the eastern foothills of the Andes.
This video was edited with the focus on the birdlife.

I like the videos a lot. Well edited, not boring. They revile very well the specifics of birding in places you visited. Feel sentimental since I was in many places you filmed. I enjoy seeing the common species not the extremity uncommon ones

Love your videos. Please avoid shining the GLP on animals’ eyes, especially if they don’t have eyelids.

Wow, this is amazing! We're hoping to do a birding trip to North Peru soon. What's the name of the lodge where you filmed that marvelous rufous crested coquette?

Very nice video. I am so impressed with your camerawork, super results with such a small and compact unit. Do you miss a lot not having a big DSLR with a long lens? My canon 500mm is a lot to carry around.

hello Stephen, In Peru I used a Panasonic camera. Today iI use a Sony FDR AX53 camcorder which has 20X zoom corresponding with a 55mm DSLR. On top of this I use an old but high grade focal doubler also from Sony, and I crop my images bi 30% whenI record in 4K. This gives me an 1200mm equivalent. Compcat but not very easy to use. I almost always use a tripod. I been using this set up since 2017.

@@guymarchal8660 Thanks for your reply Guy. I am confused by the 20x zoom corresponding to DSLR 55mm, do you mean 550mm? Anyway wonderful results and always a great watch. I also like your approach to travelling by yourselves & not on tours. More fun and probably less expensive.

The Woodcreeper at 16:12 is not Olivaceous; I think it is Cinnamon-throated will the bill at an angle such that it look foreshortened.

What we do to find interesting birding spots is pretty easy on the internet. First we search for the birding hot spots in the country. We look at the itinaries birding agencies use as well as the hotels they use. Than we check birding blogs to find out the most rewarding spots we should not miss as well as the difficulties to face to get there. Particularely since we are already in the seventies. We also search for birding lodges, if available in the area we want to visit. Our trips are ever birding only, we also include cultural activities. Since photography is our main hobby, we prefer individual trips to have plenty of time if needed.

To add to this, because of the elevation at which you were birding and the blue eye-ring, your identification of green-backed trogon looks good.
