While Weezy was influenced by Jay Z in Rhymes it would’ve also been beneficial for him to be influenced by his business acumen. Hindsight is20/20 but when he got Nicky and Drake he should’ve did a direct deal with a major. The thing is The Princes’ trusted the Cash Money Machine that was tried and True and Baby and Slim had the proper relationship to leverage the Machine. It got weird when Weezy started messing around with Christina who was engaged to Jaz and Jaz is the one who brought Drake to the Table. Drake is the only one who stayed all the way cool with everyone and didn’t get caught up in their Drama. But baby a Wayne friction put breaks on Wayne when Drake was taking off. All them beefs are squashed now but I think the bigger understanding is the Young Money situation was good look for Cash Money to keep it popping with some young energy but Cash Money was the one tied to the Machine. Wasn’t nobody from UMG going to leap frog and deal directly with Wayne like they did to Dame Dash with Jay Z. It’s a lot to be learned from that whole situation. One of the reasons I like Drake is because he didn’t pick a side and positioned himself to get money with all of them with win-win situations.
