The first Indian to build an airplane was Shivkar Bapuji Talpade. In the early 1890s, Talpade, an Indian scholar and inventor, reportedly designed and constructed an unmanned aircraft named "Marut Sakhā" or "Marut Shavak" based on Vedic principles of aeronautics. However, there is limited historical evidence and documentation available to substantiate these claims. The aircraft was said to have made a successful flight in 1895, but it did not receive widespread recognition or support at the time. Despite the uncertainties surrounding Talpade's achievements, he is often mentioned in discussions about the early history of aviation in India.
