Birthday Trip to Nagano Japan 

There's nothing like a surprise trip as a birthday gift! And, that the destination was also a surprise makes it extra special, imo. I'm so happy to see you had a delightful birthday trip exploring Ueda City, Shinichi. (Thank you, Satoshi!) I have to say, Satoshi's custard jimannyaki made my mouth water.😋 I'm looking forward to seeing Part 2!

When we visited Matsumoto, Nagano last summer we had a sake flight and really liked the Kirei sake from Okazaki Brewery in Ueda (亀齢岡崎酒造). I know I will visit when we make it to Ueda. I wonder if it will show up in the next episode or two. Happy Birthday Shinichi.

I had that Chicken Bento on my adventure to Mito. It was pretty good!

WHen I stayed oer there I was close to Nagano but didn't go into Nagano proper really. I stayed in Kawachinagano. But I did get to go to Nara, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka and even got to visit Hieizan . Maybe next time though. Nagano is as beautiful as everywhere in Japan.

That is a neat and fun birthday gift! The imagawayaki for ¥90 JPY is a steal in comparison to how much they sell them here in L.A.'s Little Tokyo where they had to raise the price to $2.50 US each (¥340 JPY at today's exchange rate.) That looks like a good place to visit being so close to a bigger city like Nagano too. 👏

Great birthday present! I cannot understand how retail businesses and restaurants in some parts of Japan make enough money to stay in business. Everywhere you two go, so many are closed. Do you need to get there before sunrise or after sunset? Maybe they are shy and see you coming and don't want to be on video. It was certainly better here. : - )
