Looks like Daddy gorilla really enjoyed the "birthday" cake. Really sad that the others didn't get very much. Couldn't they have kept the male gorilla inside for a little longer so the others could have had more?

Dad didn't get the memo: It isn't HIS birthday.... Maybe he thought the "1" represented... "I'm number 1." It is the unwritten rule in Gorilla World.... Dad eats first, and he eats as much as he wants. Love how some family members do their best to sneak away with a pepper or two! Thanks, as always, Cindy, for these wonderful videos.....

This is simply just some of the BEST footage EVER...I NEVER tire of it no matter how many times I come back & watch it over & over AGAIN...I love how everyone rather defers to "Big Daddy," in the beginning & lets him eat his fill first before cautiously moving in closer themselves to score whatever tasty treats are left...So very, VERY enjoyable to watch...

And then loads his arms up with heads of lettuce! Priceless!

What a HOG ole daddy is! That has to be the happiest group at a B-day party anywhere!

I am impressed very much with this video. Just when I think I have saw the best.....This video is awesome , I never realized how much gorilla's could actually eat. and the speed was perfect. Seems to me the male ate the whole cake by himself. It upset me that the zookeepers didn't arrange things to let the twins really enjoyed their party.

Obviously I know zookeepers can’t separate daddy gorilla from the family & in the wild it wouldn’t matter if the rest of the family got any of the special treat or not. As with any species first dibs on food or anything always goes to the dominant male in return for their protection. Yes this family is in captivity but the family dynamics don’t change...and the silverbacks role is still to protect his family at all cost. The silverback isn’t going to differentiate between being in the wild & captivity when it comes to his position in the family. I was glad to hear that zookeepers did make sure that the entire family did get to enjoy a good amount of special treats and the person filming the moment had just focused on the silverback reacting to the special birthday cake which was just as fun to watch! I didn’t think zookeepers would just have one special cake for everyone...They know the families different personalities better than anyone therefore would have known “sharing” the cake wouldn’t have been an option for daddy silverback and had to have made sure the rest of the family could also enjoy the treats too.

What’s the point in having a Birthday treat if Dads going to sit and eat it all.

Silver Back ate the whole damned display pretty much.

Because of this great event and the stupidity of people, the birthday twins got no food. Would have made more sense to have more than one display of food.

I was just like that baby gorilla, eating paint chips.

It makes sense that daddy needs a lot of food to be able to protect his large family. But dad come on, let your kids eat more on their birthday

Koddig hoe ze zich in alle bochten wrongen om eraan te kunnen. Oké ik ben 6 jaar te laat op hun birthday party maar nu pas dit filmpje ontdekt :-)

There should have been at least 2 vegetable stands. The silverback was in control. I guess that's how it works in the animal kingdom.

The twins are going to have several playing companions. There were quite a few new moms with their babies at the party.

Was it Fathers day or the twins birthday? I'm confused on how poorly executed this birthday was done. Please do a do over where the actual birthday kids have all the fun. Or get peppers spread out all over the place where everyone of the gorillas can enjoy themselves. It's always ALWAYS going to be a Man's world. I'm disappointed.

The adults will eat up everything it's the twins birthday and they aren't there to get a one so all the treats mostly went to greedy dad that's a shame so watching this what was the point so sad look at that a big mess a lot of them still aren't going to get to eat they are going crazy better off just giving each of them food and treats the dad was eating oranges already and he left with arms ful .

I know that was really dumb knowing the male is very food aggressive it's sad looking at the others so scared but wanting to eat ..why would they have it out instead of keeping it for the mom and lil ones...
