What borders on perfection? Only that which is "worth its weight in gold". She gets better and better every year, like great wine. Had the privilege of hearing this jewel in El Real. This is the stuff that legends are made of.

By far, the best soprano of her generation and one of the 3 or 4 best soprani in circulation right now.

Lisette is just incredible here. Technically, she is spot on. Her acting in really moving, from how she shows labored breaths, struggles to keep herself upright ( as Violetta is so weak here) and her face expresses all the deep thoughts that she’s feeling. Emotionally, you can literally hear her heart ❤️ crying from her voice in every note. Tears 😭 will just be the inevitable for those who listen to this epic moment in time. So grateful this history was captured on video!

It’s the fact that she sang the second verse even BETTER!!! She is amazing and the example of good singing that the opera world needs!!! BRAVISSIMA LISETTE TE QUEREMOS

My god, the embodied sorrow and pathos in her voice from the very first note is astounding. Like no other, except maybe Callas. ❤️❤️❤️

The final pianissimi were spectacular, but for me it was at 7:31 that she absolutely killed it and brought the house down. That is that extra bit that has nothing to do with vocal technique, but rather with bringing everything on the table. Emotions, acting, pathos. At that moment everything was there, and I'm glad that such a legendary moment was recorded.

I cried my eyes out watching this! Oh my Good Lord! What an artist; such a pure a beautiful voice with immaculate technique. She is possibly the greatest soprano of her generation. Maria Callas would be brought to tears listening to this!

This is what it’s all about imho. And gr8 to have that second verse sung for the bis - a defining moment.

Of my over 60 years of watching and hearing death scenes from opera, this is far away the very best. If this performance does not have your heart ripped out, something is missing....

She made me cry and get goosebumps. Magic.

Thank goodness this was recorded... Ms Oropesa manages to achieve pathos and drama without soap opera histrionics, her acting is skilfully judged and her singing still beautiful whilst managing to sound frail. A special moment indeed when the “magic” truly happened.

Realmente fue un espectáculo. Tuve la suerte de estar precisamente ese día, 28 de julio, en el Teatro Real y pocas veces he sentido una emoción tan a flor de piel como cuando oí esta magnífica voz cantar toda la ópera, llegando al cenit en este aria final. Un teatro medio lleno a causa de las limitaciones por el COVID se venía abajo, rendido, ante esta mujer. Me permito señalar una pequeña anécdota, cuando acaba la primera parte, ante del bis, hay un momento de silencio antes de romper a aplaudir como locos, nos había dejado anonadados. !Bravo, Lisette!

Cuando una buena dirección, una gran orquesta, una maravillosa voz y magnífica interpretación se unen, aparece la magia. El corazón se te encoge atrapado por tanta belleza y te elevas. Esto es Arte. Verdi estaría orgulloso. Gracias Lisette.

I heard Beverly sills in recital in the mid 70’s. Every note was thrilling. I can tell from listening to Miss Oropesa that her every note is thrilling. I think she is channeling the same greatness Beverly had. Brava! The applause gives it away.

Se veía venir. Desde el principio de la representación Lisette nos tenía cautivados y se respiraba un aire especial. Todos dieron lo mejor de sí y el culmen fue ese aria sublime que acabó con un irreal "fil de voce". Muchísimas gracias, Lisette. Y muchas gracias, también, al Teatro Real por su ejemplo de valentía y saber hacer.

Lisette es una gran Diva, es espectacular, perfecta en todas sus interpretaciones.

She is a continuous astonishment. I've had the fortune of seeing her in three different productions done by Pittsburgh Opera, and I've left the theater in a daze every time.

Estuve presente el día 28, aunque ya la habia visto el 25, soy una fiel seguidora suya, y fue una delicia lírica. Lisette Oropesa es una de las grandes sopranos del momento. He de agradecer a todo el equipo del Teatro Real su gran esfuerzo y la profesionalidad de Joan Matabosch.

My god, at 7:30 she proves she has a very significant chest voice. That opens up a whole other repertoire... she really is a very special artist. I sometimes wish she didn’t let the vibrato get so slack on high notes, but overall she is a very compelling performer. Would love to see her in this role live

We all remember the audience's reaction in another performance - 'Spargi d'Amaro Pianto’ (Lucia di Lammermoor) [ Teatro Real Madryt 2018 ] . Nobody has released the entire video recording "La Traviata" with Lisette yet. It's very sad.

El director (Nicola Luisotti, que también estuvo magnífico) había cortado en esta producción la segunda estrofa del aria, de manera que ninguna otra Violeta la había cantado previamente. Sólo Lisette completó el aria a petición del público.

Pues bis no hay pero haberlo lo hubo por obra y gracia de esta excelsa interprete en perfecta comunión entre ella, el personaje y el publico que tuvo la dicha de gozar de tamaño evento. Pasó que el público no aguantó a que terminara el aria completa y lleno de emoción decidió que aquello pareciera un bis en mitad del aria para la antología de la ópera. Por cierto, pocos bises registra la historia que se hayan producido de tal guisa y con todo el publico en pie enfervorizado. Conclusión, fue un bis histórico que no fue un bis al uso. Alabada sea Lisette Oropesa y la madre que la parió.
