For the uninitiated, this is Taste Buds at its core. Over the past 162 episodes, Sal has been gaslighting and belittling Joe at every chance he gets. This is not the first time that Sal has acted like this. Only now are some people finally getting to see it. I love this show, and I love the dynamic that these two have. At times, though, I really feel like Joe is undeservingly being made the butt of the joke. I HATE when Sal acts like this because this show is at it's best when the arguing is playful. There were moments throughout this episode where Sal was downright mean. I get that they both make outrageous statements and cut each other off, but the constant interrupting, not-so-subtle jabs, and denial from Sal was hard to listen to.

As a guy who has taken Adderall for about a year now (and learned a lot about the positives and negatives), I can tell Sal is either being over-prescribed or using it at the wrong time. This is my opinion as a first year medical student who has also been prescribed a rather high dose for years. This type of intensity, argumentativeness, and sheer inability to take perspective (even in the guise of a "comedy/podcast" setting) still does not account for the true emotion displayed comes from adderall withdrawal and overuse in addition to cessation of marijuana after heavy use. Ive been a long time fan of the show as well, and this episode genuinely made me very concerned.

If you’re a long time fan, you’ll know that DeRosa is an also steamroller. A lovable highly entertaining steamroller. He’s been ultra patient with Sal though. Something feels like Sal’s hiatus for all those fall and winter episodes was a deliberate one for self-care.

I enjoyed it greatly and also he’s totally right sal will give his own personal experience then Joe just basically says that sals own experience is false then Joe says some made up absolute “never in my life have I seen.. blah blah” which is the literal exact same type of thing sal said (a personal experience) but way more ridiculous cuz it’s always an absolute “like never in my life” or “not once” sals not infallible and has def done ridiculous argument things before but Joe does the same shit like all the time. That’s like why sal was talking over him so much. He’s at his whits end and shit. I found it pretty hilarious honestly

I even agree that garlic bread is better (or at least I think that, everyone has their own opinion), but when Sal gets like this it makes me want to jump ship to Joe’s side just because Sal is being completely unreasonable, he almost comes off like a sophist or something. This one reminds me of Strawberry vs Banana, except that time I was with Joe from the start so it was even more annoying.

This is the only episode that I actually struggled to get through. This brought me back to arguing with a person I’m no longer friends with, this is exactly how they would handle it. Completely steamrolling good points and taking joy in hitting where he knows it hurts. Sal is on one this time, I feel bad that Joe had to sit through that.

@@Chase_Chaser that's beside the point, Sal was spinning in circles. He confused garlic bread from pizza shops with heros from same pizza shops. They use different bread.. then proceeded to use an hour to argue the meaning of bread, whether you've made it or not, whether you worked for a place that made them like that, whether or not you have eaten them or ordered them. Joe didn't get a single point in without being interrupted then told he is interrupting. It was an infuriating ep honestly. I'm writing my thesis on it.

I don't tune in to any of these podcasts specifically, but did see one recently where Sal talked about being on new medication. Other commenters have now said that the way Sal is talking here is like how they've talked when they're over-prescribed Adderall or use it outside the work-focus it's meant for (apparently it's not meant for casual socializing time). I don't know on any front, but it seems plausible that Sal is under the influence of some kinda substance here. I honestly don't think he's being a jerk. (UNLESS he's doing an extended prank, in which case it's arguable.) But since we know he's on a new prescription and people are saying they experienced this kind of symptom before figuring stuff out, I hope folks will be gentle with Sal while he figures stuff out.
