This video is recorded by Chandra Kumar Sharma from Mandalay (Burma) and Sanjeev Sinha from Kailashahar (Tripura, India) at Linn Zinn Village in Sagain District of Mandalay, Burma. The forefathers of these people used to speak a language which is same as Bishnupriya Manipuri Language. But this language is in the final stage of extinction among these Akkabat people. They remember few words used by their parents, as recorded in this video. Some words are Thief as Dakugo, Bean as Khoi, Gold as Hunaa, Breast as Bunigo, Father's as Bapokor, Mother's as Malokor, Child as Sowgo, Cat as Mekugo, Don't Tak as Kotha naa maati, Love You as Hada Paori, Footwear as Khurum, Butt as Laari etc. One most important word is a slang word of Bishnupriya Manipuri which can not be written here, please watch the video to know it. Please listen it carefully and 2-3 times so as to understand Bishnupriya Manipuri words in this video by Akkabat people in Burma.

OMG ! i am feeling so emotional watching this I am almost crying. I heard stories of them as a kid, my Nano somehow had relatives as far as I remember. she was born probably in the 1920s. We are all connected thru social media, I am here in the UK and there are many more. Some are in the USA and all over the world. We need to connect and work as a group. Our culture is Vedic, so I think we should not have any problem mingling in marriage and other key traditional ways. These are our people and they must know we are here for them in Bangladesh and India. Please start a project to unite our people.

We need to merge them with us... So that our people in Burma do not face extinction and we should organize BMDC meeting for rehabilitation of their cultural roots
@sagarsingha3670
@sagarsingha3670 5 лет назад
when you say rehabilitation, that's put an insult to the one culture they are practicing. They have made a choice and their original culture had been overshadowed by the culture of the country. The good thing is they still consider themselves as BMs. This is a positivity. We must encourage them to interact with other BM groups in Bangladesh and India. Invite their community leaders to big BM festivals like Purnima raas and "sommelons". Sending cultural groups to perform traditional BM music, dance and other forms of arts. one thing we should not do is to try to introduce Hinduism to them, trust me it will fall apart. And mostly if people know Hinduism they know Buddhism isnt an alien to us. They are both branches of The Vedic religion that includes Sikhism and Jainism as well. We must be cautious with our approach and try sooner than later.

I have been hearing about them for God damn my whole life and now we are acting like we found something new. I hate our leaders, nowadays everyone a leader. All they do is take pictures and post on FB. " songbordhona" is all we know , nothing productive. if we did something 30 yrs ago, we wouldn't have to wonder about their existence at all. I remember proposing to create a collective fund to help needy ones and invest in our culture. They all laughed at me. Economic power is the power of today's world. If we had the money, we could do well.

Chandra Kumar Sharma, a manipuri brahman from mandalay (Burma) used to live in Delhi for few years doing import-export business. He learnt Hindi there and thus translating the Burme in Hindi to BM guy Mr. Saneev Sinha.
