Friends, recently I had the privilege of speaking with Fr. Mike Schmitz, the host of the popular podcast “The Bible in a Year” and a contributor at ‪@AscensionPresents‬. We cover a variety of topics in our conversation, including our vocation stories, our early starts to our RU-vid content, our favorite movies, arguing on social media, and much more. Watching Bishop Barron videos made me decide finally to become a Catholic. After interruption by Covid pandemic, I will be confirmed this Easter. Currently listening to Fr Mike's podcast, started on 1 January 2022. So lovely, strong, deep, both of you. I am 64,saved by grace.

Bishop Barron and Fr. Schmitz have and are leading so many souls around the world to Our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am one such soul. Our Risen Lord said to Peter, "feed my sheep," and indeed these faithful priests and shepherds are feeding their flock. Thank you, Bishop Barron. Thank you, Fr Schmitz.

Father Mike's "An hour that will change your life" changed mine. I have shared it with several people. As he said, I found Father Mike, then found, Bishop Barren, Sister Marian, Father Josh, Pints with Aquinas and so many others & I continue to learn more and am strengthened by the Divine inspiration I am so much more aware of because of these men. Praying for all priests, religious and their format. Thank God for these Godly leaders.

You and Fr. Michael have become two of my most favorite teachers in the Faith. Some years ago, I had a Young adults group that gathered one Friday a month - watched Catholicism and had a tremendous discussion - these were young people who wanted something to assist them to become good Catholics in the midst of the world. Fr. Michael is a hero in Divine Mercy Parish in Dartmouth Nova Scotia. I'm delighted to say that you both are helping in my ministry as Pastor. I too experience that renewal in my own priesthood with both of you. Thank you for your ministry!!! Very much appreciated Brothers !!!

Hello everyone, my name is David and I found Fr. Mike during the pandemic at a very hard time. I used to watch his Mass every Sunday with my wife and son. But it was something that helped me find myself how I needed God the most in my life. His preaching and messages really encouraged me. Actually, I am from Bolivia and I am language tutor and I was always interested in attending Mass in English. This is the reason why God is helping me have more options by being a bilingual. God bless you Fr. Mike and it is a great honor to see Bishop Barron and his videos.

I cried when Fr Mike told about his vocation story. I am married now, blessed with a child, but even today when i see a priest concentrate the host, my intuition tells "you were supposed to be there". Hopefully God will use me in my current state.

Fr. Mike! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for showing me the treasure of our Catholic Faith! It was during the pandemic through your voice in the Bible in a Year podcast that I became aware of how far I was from Our Lord and how close to Him I really need to be. I love Bishop Barron I remember how his Word on Fire homilies always touched my heart and helped me in so many ways especially getting closer to Jesus to God when we were in the midst of this pandemic and churches were closed! Amazing! What a blessing having two staples of the Catholic Church in the US together again! I loved this interview with the two most influential priests in my life right now. I made it through the pandemic listening to them daily… yes BIAY was amazing and that is why I am now doing a 2nd year listening to it. I have listened to so many of their podcasts and never miss the Sunday sermons. Bishop Barron said it best when he talked of religion study in the past… I am 72 years old. It was always “dumbed” down and in my lifetime religion was memorizing from the Baltimore catechism. I send my 3 fallen away sons the sermons most weeks and pray that they first listen to them and second that maybe one day something will resonate with them to bring them back to faith. Thanks so much to the two of you.. my favourite men who have taught me more than I can say and strengthened my own faith. 💕

Bishop Barron hit the nail on the head when he said about giving the people an overview of the Bible. That was the problem I faced every Sunday, the different readings, it was difficult to connect and understand. So when I came across Bishop Barron and Fr Mike's podcasts, it opened the Bible up for me. Still following! Thank you dear gentlemen. God Bless the both of you!!

I am seeking to balance, so I utilize the wisdom I need for daily physical life with my need to fully engage in my spiritual life. I struggle with going deeply one way or another.

Just back from my first Easter Vigil where I had an idea at least of what was going on with each of the readings tonight thanks to Fr Mike - I'm on track to finish BIAY on my 30th birthday in June. These two men are arguably the two most popular and most influential evangelizing theologians in our present time. Bishop Barron is a theological expert and devotee but has a way of distilling complex ideas down into manageable nuggets of wisdom. What's unique is that he does this while not dumbing down theology or religion but still making it relatable to everyday life. Fr. Mike speaks in a way that reaches you on a deeply personal level. His Ascension talks are deep and moving while at the same time energized and inspiring. His passion for his faith is clearly evident just by his mannerisms while speaking. A fusion of the best's traits of these two men working in unison may just be one of the most powerful evangelization tools for our time. I can only hope and pray more comes out from these two men working together.

I grew up reading just about every self help book I could put my hands on, from Dale Carnegie to Tony Robbins. At some later point, I picked up the Bible in a serious way and I can't tell you how many times I've come away going, every worthwhile thought or passage I've ever discovered in "self help" materials was already addressed in the Bible. It is truly the best "self help" book ever written and captures all the supposed wisdom of the secular approaches. My only regret is the time I spent digesting these past self help materials and I could have had my nose in the Bible or sat in a church to hear God. But I'm here now and this path is SO rewarding. Not easier or more of something, but truer. I've struggled to understand the Bible, but I've never felt the need to ask the question, "Does that apply to me?" Maybe not all of it at once but all of it eventually, yes.....

I totally agree that Bishop Barron and Father Mike, Matt Fradd, and other ministries are all interconnected by leading people to find out about them and giving catholics, non-believers, skeptics and the likes, information about issues that people face at the moment and how God is working in all these situations from the past up to the present. They have definitely guided my faith on how to make my relationship with Jesus grow not only in words but more importantly in my actions.

@@BishopBarron Yeah, before I became a Christian, truly surrendered my life to Christ, I was a pathological liar, passed lie detector test, my mouth was a sewer, my hard was hard and you would want me any where near your daughter. I was so emotionally and relationally broken. Christ saved me and set me free! Blessings!

I have a slight problem with the movies they mention because the language is so bad in one especially - Shawshank. I think the other two are as well. Should we as Catholics just accept this in media or is it the norm now? I’ve always learnt we need to be selective in our viewing.

If negative comments are upsetting, please consider that some people were actually harmed in Catholic school or in the church, particularly as children. Their anger can have a reason.
