I was there and they didn't turn anybody away because the people stood in front of the doors in packs and would not leave because of the great love he had for people, they were in the temple and all over the grounds. It was awesome seeing people standing outside in the cold weather just because they wanted to be there. As Spencer Said "they Could have had it at COBO Hall but he didn't Build COBO Hall." I personally, know that he believed that people should have homegoings where they served.
This is the way a home going celebration for a man of God should be. When it comes my time to go, I want the people of God dancing up and down the aisles under the power of the precious Holy Ghost that has been mine since 1947. No need to be sad because I will be in that beautiful place called heaven. I didn't know the Bishop in this life but I look forward to hugging his neck on that golden shore just beyond that bright river.
All those Great Pentecostal / Apostolic Fathers on one Pulpit and under one roof. My GOD from Zion . I remember being saved in 1968 and attending the PAW Conventions out of town , and at home in Indy and all of them were so very young , back in those days. LORD Please let us hold fast to our Great Heritage and Rich Doctrine that they lived and died for , in the Sweet and Precious Name of JESUS!!!!!!! Bro. Greg Owens(Indianapolis, IN)
watch ye therefore ye know not the day when the Lord shall call your shall away if you labor striving for the right you shall wear a golden crown oh i, i shall wear a crown o when when the trumpet sounds if i labor striving for the right i shall wear a golden crown. tha what we used to say at GGT detroit
At first I was enjoying the song, and then I saw their Pastor, then I figured it was his home going ...wow. This was awesome...this is the way all saints should be sent off to be with our Savior...
Thank you so much for posting this. I am pastoring now but I was in the choir then at this service. March 19 and this day Mon March 25, 1996 was one of the hardest days I ever had experience besides my grandmother passing this past February I have not grieved so painly. Bishop (DOC) you are missed badly. What a man what visionary. What a leader. ONE LORD ONE FAITH ONE BAPTISM!
It has been such a privilege to have been under the ministries of these souls given tous by heaven. I hope that the families of our angels know that we appreciated them and thank you for many times loaning them to us. Bishop Wagner we love you so much. Bishop Ellis we love you so much and all of those baptised into the Body by the Holy Spirit of God. I love you all so much. Dr. B. Smith Saginaw, MI
That's Bishop Earl J. Wright. My God-daddy. Miller Memorial Church of God In Christ. This was a true homegoing!!! We had! Church!!!! That's how Bishop David taught us~~Praise your way THROUGH!!!
Now we're preparing for Bishop Wagner's victory service. God bless the memories of both Bishop Ellis and Bishop Wagner, two great giants in Pentecost!!!
I remember when I was just a teenager, a musician at our church died, she was very well known throughout our area, even in the next state over, this was the 1970s , her home going service was like this , jammed pack church, and all these musicians too turn on the organ and piano, and they sung and shouted, even the mortician and his staff was clapping and shouting, all old hymns and songs
great man of god his homecoming was good every time I look at his video and my uncle Norman starting off the services singing I shall wear a crown then Bishop Ellis son singing then uncle William Ellis ends the songs bad boys of the paw
Why don't they sing like this in church anymore, I don't know a thing about music, or any instruments, but I love to listen , you don't get these kinds of songs on Sunday morning it's either too high class, or all contemporary music, which is beautiful, but I've spoke up to the pastor, and asked for some hymns or songs like this, I don't know if the musician can play them or not, he is very skillful, I don't think it will ever return, they don't even sing these songs on communion Sunday.
You stated, "I don't think it will ever return," It never left, people stop singing them. The Pentecostal Apostolic songs of Zion will never ever leave. It's just that people not singing the songs like they should.
I haven't heard Watch Ye Therefore since my great-grandmother 's homegoing celebration. Once that song was sung the Spirit of the Lord enveloped the church, Never in my memory do I remember a homegoing where the Spirit was as high as that day. I thank God for his presence! Thank you for this posting apostolicreturns
My Lord, what a video!! I have wept the whole time,, I only hope I can go out the same way!! with the saints shoutin and praising God Like this.. Please brother, post some more of this! I was so down today, but I feel alot better science watchin this..!! JESUS NAME CHURCH ALL THE WAY!
I just discovered your message! I do know that Bishop Harry Herman and his wife were there. I spoke to them immediately prior to the procession to the cemetery. It was a bright spot in the day because I was 51-years-old at the time and hadn't seen either one of them since I was a teenage member of Christ Temple-Indianapolis back in the 1960's. God bless them!
Love it. But when Bishop William Ellis hollered out Yeah that thing sounded just like his brother Bishop David Ellis. that was sort of scary. It is amazing now that Bishop Charles Ellis is the prelate of PAW now. Full circle.
I Know~~Bishop Abney, and Dr. Jerry Herman. (We 'MUST' live a life ~ of READY.) The body of Christ has lost another great leader. ...'In The Morning'. Rest In His Arms Bishop Wagner, , My spiritual father, Bishop Ellis and Dr. Herman- just to name a few Great! You Are Missed.
I haven't heard watch ye therefore in so long....does anyone know if Elder Carlton Burrel of Niles, MI, Elder George Dewberry of Benton Harbor, MI or Elder Bosie Bowman of Benton Harbor was any of those Elders there. Also was Bishop Hermann there?
