I've never encountered anyone who could make the Old Testament come alive like Bishop Ellis could. His knowledge of the history of ancient times is vast, he gave us living pictures of what those times were like. In order to fully understand the New Testament, you must understand the Old Testament as well. While hearing Bishop Ellis, you can visualize armies marching, prophets preaching, and God moving. Each Ellis sermon is a real treat, you'd leave the service both fullfilled and informed.
I love listening to Bishop J D Ellis. This message is one of greatest sermons I have ever heard. I listen to it at least twice a month. God bless his legacy and impact.
"Hit the flo' " ? "Hit the flo' " ? It is 3:28 am. The Lord just changed my perception what that phrase will mean for me. It "used" to mean bustin out with a dance move in a club. Now it means walking in and out in a spirit of praise no matter what the circumstances are and before all tasks. LOL. Why, thank You, Lord. :0) Go for broke? Did he just say "Go for broke"? This preacher just said, "Go for broke." I just love being "in" church (via RU-vid) all night long. It's a favorite dream come true. I used to hate saying goodbye after church .... oh my goodness. The church I used to go to sometimes held prayer shut-ins from Fri nite til Sat morning. I am suddenly inspired by that.
Never heard of him until this year on Instagram, I believe. Since I heard he passed away recently, I decided to look him up to hear a message of his. I loved the way he praised God WITH the people and not just watching them!

Wow! I visited the church when I first moved to Cleveland. His message was the name Emmanuel, E manu El. I have no idea why I didn't stay but I'm going to at least visit again. It's nice to not hear a feel good message. Don;t get me wrong as I dare to not put my lips on no real man or woman of God. However, some preach how "it's going to get better" or "God told me to tell some of you that you've been struggling and in just a little more while it's going to get better. I also received from the Lord a number. The number... represents...which means... and that about...of you have...and I promise that if you give...you'll receive...fold back by..." The nerve of them! But I need to grow in the knowledge of the Lord as much as my finances.
Someone posted his transformation from Islam to Christianity on fb and my God I am now hooked by his ministry. I needed a word and the Lord use his messages to restore. God is so powerful, words/messages preaches years ago still lives despite Bishop death. In death for Christ there is life. Lord you're awesome. RIP Bishop Ellis. You're definitely doing the jail house rock in heaven.
