Your series helps me a ton when it comes to actually understanding how sound design works in detail. Like the filter + downsample trick. Phenomenal series.

Thank you for this educational video. You have obviously put a lot of hard work into this tutorial and deserve much recognition throughout the music studio/electronic music community. I always look forward to your RU-vid posts and I am so appreciative of your diverse tutorials.

Awesome material! I've been a musician for 25 years but only recently got into sound design and the physicist in me loves seeing how the stuff I learned in college applies to music. If only I made the connection back then.

Sample depth reduction placed after the SVF looks like a cheap extra parameter for my synthesizer.

where did you find information about the TR 909 having only 6 bits? i thought some of it was analogue, like part of the kick drum for example?
@Woochia
@Woochia Год назад
Actually the main sounds like the kick and snare are analog. The 6-bit sounds are the ones that are sampled, these are the cymbals

Realized a bit crush effect on a stereo signal can be seen in a space scope (y = left+right, x = left-right); check about 2 minutes 48 seconds into this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gjcd_gxtAx4.html

Of course you can agree to disagree. Though at 7:11 I'm still building the sound. From 7:23 you can start to hear the vowels better.

What is that bitcrusher that has the name "red..."
@Woochia

That must be Redux. That's an Ableton stock effect.

Bit crushers aren't distortion it's lowered bit depth down to 4bits ect..

Bitcrusher produces digital distortion...
@fullmetaljackie2970
@fullmetaljackie2970 2 года назад
@@j.r.a.inthacut8148 no it doesn't I'm a professional music producer a bit crusher lowers the bit rate its not distortion
@j.r.a.inthacut8148
@j.r.a.inthacut8148 2 года назад
Lol. Look up the definition of bit crusher...it literally says it's distortion..and yes it does lower the bit rate but it also produces distortion..
@fullmetaljackie2970
@fullmetaljackie2970 2 года назад
@@j.r.a.inthacut8148 I don't need to look it up whatever you read is wrong I can create bit crushers myself
@j.r.a.inthacut8148
@j.r.a.inthacut8148 2 года назад
No it's not wrong. When the sample rate is reduced it creates aliasing which is a form of distortion.
