CORRECTION: This is from sometime in 1994. My fault for the confusion. For those that want to know why. When I ran out of VHS cassettes, I would use prior tapes that had any kind of space to record on. This segment came from a tape labeled 1992. I know some of you DGAF but there it is.
Only took over a decade to notice lmao but yeah it would be weird for Biz to have that Kay Gee/Zhane beat on vinyl two years before it was made lol R.I.P.
I was DJing back in D.C. around ‘92. I met Biz and I was a just fan of his, but he hung out with me and spun with me and treated me completely me as a friend a few times. I am so grateful for those memories I am completely in tears watching this. This brother was such a great person, no joke!
Yes I must agree with you hip-hop in his bloodstream I had all his music and still do . Hip-hop is going to be a lot poorer now I was watching his funeral on BET Tears was really flowing with me We all grew up on his music great entertainer and a great man humble was His first name. I know people that met this dude and he left a lasting impression on them . One of the nicest people you ever want to meet that’s what I’ve been told about him. R.I.p BIZ .
This was dope and refreshing. The DJ game is totally different now days. This is a lost art. Biz had skills that was never displayed on his platform. I'm exactly from his era and never knew that he could cut mix and scratch. Transforming with the needle was my favorite. Jazzy Jeff, Mix Master Ice (of U.T.F.O), and Bob Cat ( LL Cool Jay DJ ) were my favorites back in the day.
This is not a “lost art” sorry man. Still alive and well. I’ve been spinning for 20 years and do this exact type stuff. Check out Skratch Bastid and The GAFF, KRAFTY KUTS AND A.Skillz, DJ Craze.. the list is endless.
It's still around. I started djing in 97, and have stuck with vinyl the entire time. Never played a digital file. Not all clubs still have turntables, but they exist. And all vinyl nights get decent support
I legit thought he was rapping while giving that tutorial. Thats how seamless and musical his voice is. Plus biz chats a lot during his raps which i absolutely love. Legendary dude
Hell yeah man! Comin' up as a child & teenager I used to buy VHS tapes to record the music videos and interviews from Rap City, Yo MTV Raps, The Box. B.E.T. These ringtone rappers can't fuck with that HISTORY 😆
Such beautiful footage. Seeing a legend like Biz in his element like this. Man if he had a show just DJ-ing like this I would watch/listen all the time.
@ 2:00 (BLENDING) : as a Database software developer ( we blend 2 databases with DATA ) // BIZ has done with MUSIC ( the Art of Blending & Transitioning is Perferct) // thanks for the Video upload
Okay, so people were bugging out like everybody was tripping off of Q-tip caught on video doing this. But Biz Markie dated back in 92, he did it waaaaay before Q-Tip Go, Biz Mark!
These new dj don't know anything about this. Picking up the needle is a skill of dj that is not easy. And you got to know the whole song that is in the table before you start mixing.
