You are literally my new favorite channel. I absolutely love car history stuff, AND you solved a mystery for me. I have a video somewhere on my phone from 2-3 years ago of a Chevy Venture with the WB logo on the back in front of me at a stop light and I remember saying something like "Who would love WB enough to put a metal bugs bunny on the back of their minivan?" and sure enough, I learned today the factory did it! Hahaha.
There was a lot of cross-promotion between WB and Chevy in the early 2000s, including Chevy drivers driving special Looney Tunes paint schemes in the 2001 and 2002 fall Richmond NASCAR races.
I remember seeing one of those WB vans in a scrap yard. I stole the WB badges off it and still have them not knowing what to do with them. They just looked cool and small enough to fit in your pocket. 😂
4:00 my parents, and eventually myself, had a '93 S10 Blazer with the "Baja" wheels (i don't know if they had an exact name but are always in the s10Baja promo pix). Our family always loved that vehicle. 🙃
For the 1984 Summer Olympics hosted in LA, GM marketed a special edition Buick Century. I recall the cars were white with gold Olympic emblems and tan interiors. Not sure if they were available in other colors or other models
I've ridden in one of the diamond Jimmys, really unique interior. Unique enough that I remember riding in one that my first boss ever owned, one time 25 years ago.
Growing up my parents had a chrysler town and country, and there were only 2 of us kids, so they would remove the middle row of seats, bungie a wooden chair to the front row, had a power inverter, and hooked up an atari commodore monitor and vcr, then as time went on it changed to a dvd player, and finally, an original xbox, all the while keeping the atari monitor instead of getting a regular tv. Was awesome, in fact i still have and use that monitor and og xbox
Now that you’ve reminded me, I remember going mini van shopping with my mom, dad, & little brother around 2000. My bro & I were young, me 10 or so, him a couple yrs younger. I remember going through the brochure for the Chevy and seeing the WB edition. Nothing about the WB bit really registered with me at the time. Glossed over that, but I do remember lusting after that TV. She ended up leasing a Windstar, without a TV. My brother and I made it our mission to lobby for one with a TV every time the lease was up from that point on. 4 or 5 years and 2 Windstars later, they finally relented and got one with the TV, about the time I got my learner’s permit. I got to enjoy that TV for maybe 2 months before I was in the front seat, driving. A few months after that, my mom totaled it. After that she graduated from the mini van to a Volvo XC90. It had a Yamaha built 4.4L V8 making a little over 300hp. That was a lot of power back then. It sounded phenomenal, and to this day it’s one of the smoothest, fastest revving, best V8s I’ve ever experienced. I think Nobel used it, a modified version of it, in the M600. Which, at the time, was one of, if not the fastest car(s) in the world. It may not have been an inbuilt TV, but it brought me the same kind of joy over a car as if it were. I still lust over that motor, and have always wanted to put one in a project car. In a few years, when mid engine Vettes become a bit more plentiful, I’d love to find one with a blown up engine & transplant one of those 4.4L Yamaha/ Volvo V8s ((re)built) in its place. Or, now that I’m thinking about it, possibly a Lotus Evora/ Emira w/ the same, to take full advantage of the packaging/ transverse layout. Dunno if you could squeeze one into an Alpha Romeo 4C, but, holy shit, would that not pleasure all to completion every time it let you take it out? A MR2 might be more attainable, just as high maintenance, nearly as invigorating, but asks for nearly all your time at mere fractions of the price. Resell’d go the same. So, unlike the Italian, you’d be married to it. Ah, but to be made a fool for love any way you cut it?
Coworker is restorting a 1976 Chevy pick up Montreal Olypmic edition. Between GM and Chevy, only 600 were made, 300 for each brand. Each brand had different stylings and trims. Not much else is known about these trucks.
I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche North Face Edition and I didn't know it existed when I bought it. An obscure special edition made by GM from 2002 to 2003 that nobody cared about. Designed to complete with the popular Eddie Bower edition Fords of the time.
Had a -97 Blazer that I bougth new, it was not the most high quality vehicle I have ever owned..... Maybe the diamond theme would have made it better....;-)
Honorable mention: 2003 Lincoln Navigator Kittyhawk Edition. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Kitty Hawk plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004, the game made a contest to win a 1 of 1 Navigator with a special badge
Just like a Chrysler Concorde or Dodge Intrepid or something… They’re rare not because they’re highly sought after collectors cars, they’re rare because they’re trash
the late 2000s cheverolets were some of the most boring cars ever made. The uplander? the cobalt? they looked 3 times as dull as the cars they replaced.
As a Michigan kid who grew up riding in one of those vans I'm not surprised. I'm also willing to bet your van's fuel gauge broke because they all bloody did
I remember selling parts for these vans..specifically there was a low and high amp alternator… I always used to asked if they had a Warner brothers package.. I figured the TV and what not required more amperage.
My granddad had a Venture for about a decade, the thing rotted so bad, the frame rails turned completely to rust and buckled. I still have nightmares about that turd.
My first job I worked at a Hyundai dealer. The weirdest thing I ever saw was the Hyundai Kona Iron Man Edition. We had one that sat on the lot for about 2 years, it was used as a demo / sales manager vehicle because no one wanted it. After we sold it, I have not seen a single one since
The 2003 trailblazer north face edition was neat in my opinion. The two tone paint, marker lamps and trim specific seats looked neat. And it had north face gear included.
@@chonkyhonky1887it’s such a cursed mating, which really does it for me. AWD and Mustang in the same sentence from factory is unusual to say the least.
@@RockandrollNegro I agree with the SSR, do you mean the GNX? The Gran National? Nah, thats a muscle beast, it isnt traditional but it's still beautiful, mean and fast as all hell. It was meant to be the "not your dad's Buick".
In the spirit of the bravada and diamond edition jimmy- the blazer also had a "trailblazer" package with unique gold trimmed wheels (different between 2wd and 4wd) a unique grille, pinstripes and trim. It had a 2 tone leather interior (charcoal and black? Or brown and tan) and totally loaded. I had one. Only seen one other in the wild. I've found no information on them but mine had a locking front diff and ZR2 suspension
Yes! My childhood best friend's mother bought a Trailblazer packaged S10 Blazer when it was only a few years old. Only one I've ever seen. She shuttled us around in it often. Last I heard, she still has it and drives it as a winter vehicle, over 300k miles now
One of my old neighbors had a Warner Bros. Venture for as long as I can remember, and as of 3 years ago when I moved, they still had it. I had always assumed the WB badges were something they put on themselves. Pretty neat!
I miss my Saturn, my 94 sc2 made it to 434k. I knew a lady I worked with and she had the warner brothers venture and the transmission died at 60k 😂... It's amazing how many blazers and Jimmy's are still on the road today 😮
We had a Venture when I was a kid. Not the WB edition, but the LT instead, which was more luxury instead of a TV (luxurious for a 2000 GM plastic-wasteland minivan, anyway), but I was aware of the WB as an option. It was very reliable, we used it for 11 years and over 225k miles before another driver caused an accident that totaled it.
Great video as always I'm from Colorado they also had a addition in the state the Avalanche Blazer all It had was too plaques on both sides of the doors and one on the back with the Avalanche logo and pinstripe also the coach of the team at the time Mark Crawford starred in the commercial the team was still new to the state and they also won their first Stanley Cup being in Colorado because they were in Canada prior so I would see these Blazers from time to time😎😎
Brilliant video. I live in the UK now but lived in South Carolina as a kid in the late80s and my grandad had a new Jimmy 4x4 V6 - I seem to remember it was pretty high spec with alloys, two tone paint and half leather. He nearly brought it back to the UK too. Whacky special editons are great - Ford and Vauxhall here in the UK churned out limited editons by the dozen in the 80s and 90s. I have always been intrigued by the crazy specials that Ford/Lincoln did with Cartier, Mark Cross, etc. they’re amazing!
It really was the perfect option for people with kids on long trips. VCR/TV systems in the late 90s with vans was somthing other brands did too.Even Nissan Quests had a Audiovox entertainment system as a option....But no Bugs Bunny logos came with that, and you didnt have to buy the high trim model to get it.
I worked at a GM Pontiac dealer in 2000, this diamond edition was a total rip off. I remember looking at its 35k(in 2000 money) price tag as a college kid and I thought, who the hell would pay for this.
The Warner brothers edition came with a beach set lol, I remember that growing up, I wish it wasn’t scrapped with 100k miles, those motors are great too.
Growing up, my parents had a Maroon 2001 Chevy Venture with the Warner Brothers package. I learned to drive on it in 2010. They drove it from 2000-2010 and we have several fond memories watching movies with the headphones on and eventually rigging up our GameCube and playing on long road trips. We used to call it the "BunnyBus" as Bugs Bunny was on the fenders. I miss that van sometimes.
Just clicked on the video. Dont know if it will be mentioned but i had a 2003 buick regal GS "joseph abboud edition", some designer id never heard of. It also had something to do with the Olympics as it had the Olympic rings next to his name. Absolutely loved that car.
I was a Chevy mechanic, We had the Michael Jordan S-10 blazer, With 3 basketballs on the outside doors, The "Indy" Beretta's Had the Indy logo sewn into the seat backs in pastel colors! I had a costumer show me his Harley Davidson edition Ford F-150
As used here, "bros" is not the plural of bro ( a term meaning a guy ), but is, in fact, a contraction for Brothers ( as in Warner Brothers ) If you are using a computer generated voice over, call tech support. It needs fixing... If you are in fact using an actual human, I would recommend hiring an editor, who can read and write...perhaps an elementary school teacher. This may seem like some annoying person complaining about nothing. I disagree. I was in customer-facing occupations for about 50 years. If I wasn't sure what the word meant, I would look it up. If it was from another language, I would talk someone who spoke that language. Believe me, folks like to talk to some person who is well-informed. Thanks for your time.
Might I suggest having a look at the Chevy Celebrity Eurosport VR? The Celebrity was the most popular car in 1987 and they made less than 500 VR's total! The looks were very futuristic. It could be said that the VR was the grandfather to the tuner cars that were yet to come.
Another awesome vid! I wasn't even aware of a Diamond edition Jimmy! It was ugly outside, so I see why it didn't make it lol. Looks too... I went overboard at Pep Boys. I've chatted about the Warner Brothers Venture on a few of my vids now and remember seeing them in the wild here and there.
@@GreenHawkDrive Most recently my GM minivan/Star Trek themed one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qp8cjJ75gMI.htmle right around the 10:25 mark
You totally forgot the 1976 Chevrolet Nova Shark edition which was black trimmed in golf and a rear spoiler and came out about the time Jaws was popular
Since you used the Saturn footage at the top of the video I'm surprised you didn't mention the actual 1994 Homecoming Edition. It came with a pearl white paint from Cadillac, leather/cloth seats, ABS, power accessories, special 15-inch wheels and blacked-out badging. They also did another one in 1999 with a full leather interior and this sort of "mint" color. Another one of my favorite GM special editions was the 2013 Avalanche Black Diamond. It was sort of released as a "last hurrah" for the Avalanche, similar to what the Eldorado Collector's Series was. It came with a special badge and a coffee table book which showed the history of the Avalanche; as well as a behind-the-scenes look at the Silao production plant, and was personalized with a copy of the owner's window sticker and commemorative photos of their truck.
Great videos! I will definitely subscribe and keep watching. However, I’ll apologize before going further. I am a teacher, so double check your pronunciation. “Bros.”A is short for “brothers.” It’s not a word. Also it is “Ă-tri-būt,” with the accent on the first syllable. You know teachers always have to correct stuff. Lol!
I had a 75 Monza 2+2 with a 262 V8 for a while, wish I'd kept it...never saw the Spirit of America version, but I did see a Monza Spyder once at a wrecking yard and grabbed a cool Spyder emblem. And I've heard rumors of a "Monza Mirage"...but never have I seen this rare edition...
What about the 50th year anniversary 1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight LSS 50th Anniversary and the 50th year anniversary 1991 Oldsmobile 98 Touring Sedan Supercharged
You forgot the Iraqi Malibus. They were made for the Iraqi government to be given away to families who lost sons or soldiers who lost limbs in the Iraqi-Iranian war. But GM ripped off the Iraqis by supplying the cars with non-cloth interiors (inappropriate for hot climates) and a clutch petal that would break off due to crappy welding. The Iraqi government wisely rejected the cars and bought Toyotas instead and the cars were dumped in Canada. I welded up the clutch pedal for a friend who bought one in Canada and it was fine until an intake valve spring broke. The car had a straight 6 (I know people say it as a V6 but I saw a straight 6) and a 3 speed manual shifted on the column.
In 1979 GM had A Extremely rare interior option for the cutlass it was called the designer interiors there were two types the Tahoe which was a cream color with a white and red native design the other design was called Mojave which was a black seat with a crazy black white and red pattern (think grandma's carpet) My father owns one of these cars with the Mojave pattern on a Oldsmobile cutlass supreme (fully loaded), To my understanding the cars were color keyed to the seat base color Tahoe being a creamish color the car was as well, same thing goes for the Mojave black seats black car. Only 500+ cars were produced and barely any remain in good condition as people would buy the cars and swap out the interior as people (me and my father included) would think its some ugly aftermarket job thankfully our car is a survivor and is in fantastic shape although it has been painted in some spots.
I worked for Buff Whelan Chevrolet in the early 2000’s & remember the Warner Brothers Venture - Remember the Key Chain… the ZR2 2 door Blazer - with the spare tire you couldn’t see out the back window..!!!
I swear to god my parents had a ford minivan that had little naked stick figures chasing each other around the van in the pinstripes. They were about 1/4 inch tall. When you opened the gas tank there was a little stick-figure guy having sex with a dog. There was a little caption that said “makin puppies”. My mom bought it like that! Swear to god on a stack of bibles! We called it the pornovan.
Your missing a few cars my friend, GM had an Olympic Editon Equinox & even a GMC Sierra Ski-doo edition truck with mostly decals I think. Also the Dale ernhart Monte Carlo.
I was selling cars in the 90s, and some poor guy was trying to trade in his 96 or 97 Aerostar XLT 5 speed . It had low miles and the manager made phone calls to get a "buy figure" from wholesalers (he had no intention of keeping that one to sale). Book value at the time was 10k, but no one would offer more than 4k due to the transmission.
@@autochatter You know that doesn’t surprise me at all! my friend’s dad worked for Ford at the assembly plant that built the Mercury villager. They always had the weird model of Ford products. A manual Mercury Tracer wagon for instance. Both the Mom and Dad only would drive manuals, they hated automatics. It was a good time for manual drivers!
@reslider As my current car is a 6MT, I'm a manual fan myself! But...I could see why a Aerostar with a 5 speed could be a tough sale even then. Your friends Dad was at...Avon Lake factory I think? They built the Quest van there too.
@@autochatter You're correct. We grew up in Westlake a few miles away. They ended up moving to Kentucky to a new Ford Plant at some point in the late 90's when that plant either closed or changed production. 6MT driver myself, they're becoming unicorns nowadays so I'm holding on to mine as long as I possibly can.
@@reslider Cool. Was trying to remember my Quest history as that and the Villager was a joint collaboration. I've actually produced two manual transmission guides for my channel now..the 2024 version I did about a month ago. The list keeps getting shorter!
I mean I would have loved to have a WB edition Voyager. when I was a kid. Their first car that I remember my parents only was a 2005 Chevy Uplander and we were spoiled. We had rear seat entertainment with the headphones all your members of that Van. I think we traded it in for a Chevy Malibu and then my parents realized it was too small so then they upgraded us to a traverse
My uncle had a Spirit Of America edition Chevy Nova. He took my dad and his brother to McDonald's after picking it up from the dealer. He got angry at them after they dropped burgers onto the seats.
General motors could screw up a wet dream General Motors needs to stick to what they do best propaganda being on the wrong side of history supporting the LGBTQ. Playing the rainbow flags celebrating gay pride being proud to Saturn was designed by homosexuals these are the things that General Motors needs to stick to
I almost bought a James Garner edition car from GM i think it was a v6 just below the Camaro forgot the car maybe a Cavalier …. I would love to see what I missed out on.
My gpa had the red Elderado when I was a kid. I loved that car, but one night he left it outside instead of parking in the garage like he always did. Some douche stole it and crashed it a mile away from his house. That crushed my gpa hard, he loved that car so much
I have a 1998 Lincoln mk viii collector edition they made only 1300, you only have 3 colors for it red white or green, you got the badges on the outside and inside, wood grain interior inside
i think a lot of Warner Bros Ventures sold. i bought a new venture in 2002, and i recall they were all around the sales floor. years later, i see lots wb editions in the scrap yard
Over the last couple of years I’ve become a Jeep XJ and WJ Cherokee guy and was surprised to find they made some weird editions of those too. One was branded a Columbia Edition… literally partnered with a clothing company for some weird reason. You should do a video about all those weird Jeeps lol. Also surprised not to see the early 90’s SS Silverados in this video. While not super wacky, at the same time it was odd for the Super Sport badge, that was exclusive to muscle cars, to be put on a pickup truck. But boy did it work… those were cool.
Excellent. You did your homework and research. I watched the video. I hate you did not talk about the Oldsmobile special edition. You covered a lot and did a good job of putting your footage together. I recall all those models. There were more from GM, but you covered a lot. Please keep doing your videos. I look forward to your next video.
