I do not have the words to express how much I thank you for this arrangement. This song.... this instrumental means the absolute world to me. The raw chords from the strings and pipes are just STUNNING. The use of dissonance and uncommon chords are rare and simply breathtaking. The instrumental gives me a deep rooted sense of "wanderlust" and nostalgia. For obvious reasons, I love the first 18 seconds of the original song. It just sends me to another dimension. HOWEVER in second 19, where Ms. Guðmundsdóttir begins "singing" I have the sudden, insatiable urge to tear off my own ears and nail them to signposts. Her voice, out of nowhere, absolutely ruins the entire effect of the first 18 seconds. It is jarring and unpleasant and it "unravels" the entire atmosphere that was created. I can say, unconditionally, with no doubt or second thought, I hate Bjork for this song alone. I HATE Bjork Guðmundsdóttirwith with the burning passion of a thousand suns after hearing the original Anchor Song. So, thank you, kind stranger for this breathtaking arrangement of The Anchor Song. I couldn't be happier and I now feel my life is complete.
I get why you feel that way a little bit, but also I've never thought of Björk as being someone for creating music for easy listening. I've always thought that jarring was her specialty. There is some music to get lost in, and some that is meant to tell stories, or some just to be enjoyed on surface level. Like, if a movie went exactly how you want it to then it probably wouldn't make you feel any extreme emotions. I think most art forms strive for making the viewer/listener feel something.
