Years ago my cousin told me about a norwegian skier, who apparently was so legendary, that he stopped before the finish line, just to ski backwards lol. I thought he was joking..Finally i came to think about it.. googled it and i found this man. It seems like what my cousin told me was true. He is legendary :-O
❤🇹🇷❤🇳🇴❤🌍One of the lovely person I love from Norway is Bjørn Dæhlie. I love his smiling, he is a good athlete, 8 gold, 4 silver in the Olympic games (OL), 9 gold, 5 silver in the world championship (FIS-VM) won 3 bronze, 8 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze medals in the World Cup... He left sports in 1999 and founded his own sportswear brand. Announced that it will move from Norway to Switzerland as of February 2, 2022. Good luck in Switzerland. We love you.
One of the best Norwegian skiiers of all time :) Love that guy! And it's funny to see how many people who have commented negative comments and think they are real doctors who know everything about the sport and drug use. Shame on them for being a bunch of ignorant people
I still mis one clip (although it doesn't show him win).. I think it's Bjørn Dæhlie at least. He gives his flowers (which he got at the prize handout) to an Ethiopian (or something) who just arrives at finish, like one hour after him. I can't remember details, because I was a kid, but that stuck to my memory as one of the biggest moments of Olympic Games.
I don't know about other Norwegian athletes, but I've met Bjørn Dæhlie, I live in the same town as he, the same town where he every year organises a charity where kids can come, meet him and compete in a race! That man would never do anything as unethical as using drugs!
as mentioned on another post. Name 1 norwegian winter athlete that's been caught using any form of drugs/dope. Norway is one of the, if not the country with the least use of drugs within sports. We have ethics, and stay clean.
@darkstormass I am terribly sorry, but you just failed your "spot sarcasm" exam. The man has the highest V02 max (aerobic capacity) ever recorded on a human being, measuring 96 ml/kg/min.
I don't understand why so many of you commenters feel the need to be so very hostile in your comments. Granted, you might have very strong feelings connected to Bjørn, or perhaps the sport. Still, you ought to be able to keep emotionally laden responses separate from factual discussion. The ability to strongly disagree with fellow men while still maintaining a composed attitude is a respected quality among all great leaders. It's also a trait by which many measure maturity. C'mon, be mature ;)
@Karkoil You're talking about an athlete with impeccable manners. Never done or said anything "wrong" or "bad" against any of his competitors, and have at all times seemed mature and responsible. His image is much like Ole Gunnar Solskjær's image when it comes to these things. Let's put it this way: what you're saying is as likely as my grandma being on drugs.
This is the best Skier ever walked on earth. Northoug is good, yeah ,but he is not good enough in cassic, and he is just good in starts where evrybody starts at the same time...
Hieno urheilija. Onnistui hyvin peittämään dopingin käytön koko uransa ajan (:. Vieläkö norjalaiset myöntäisivät sen. Everybody know that he was using doping. Only norwegian people don't wanna admit this.
Better be more evidence than what "uppdrag granskning" managed to compile. The measurements were done under fishy circumstances, and the tools were unprecise, usually giving abnormally high values. For those who don't know, dehydration leads to higher values and so does altitude training, the results are simply not accurate enough to conclude anything.
Never ever has a norwegian winter athlete been proven as using drug enhancing medications. In fact I'm pretty sure no swede has either. Athletes has a very high standing in Norway. The difference between many other countries is that there's a zero tolerance for doping in Norway and Sweden. In many other countries they can just continue where they left off after their quaranteen is over. This would never happen in Norway.
@Bammar11 They are still testing his blood samples, they are still clean. Give me 1 slight milligram of proof and then you acn come with some accusations.
Are there still bloodsamples of his golden days? Would be interestig to analyse them with Contemporary Methods...dont worry ,just for Scientific reasons
it might be, but Björn Daehli wouldnt know.. He was tested multiple times. As many of his colleagues got caught, such as Müller and Myllylä, he never tested positive. Nordic countries, especially Norway simply has no culture for doping. If you could mention even one Norwegian winter athlete caught doing enhancing drugs, ur comment might have had some merit to it.
Perbjarne LOL. You know that same comments were made when people said that Armstrong was doping, right? LOL. "Lance was tested over 500 times, and never tested positive..." Time will tell. The Swedish documentary has said numerous times that Daehlie, among others, has had high blood values throughout his racing career. In the EPO/Steroid/General doping era where Finns, Austrians, Italians, Russians, Estonians, Germans, Spaniards have been caught doping, the Norwegians were the most dominant, yet you think they could beat all those doped up skiers? Again, you are saying the same thing the Armstrong apologists said. Get real.
I've heard that the 90's was a big era for EPO use and the start of masking agents. Can someone back that claim? Somebody beside a Scandinavian, preferably. I already know what they are gonna say.
Look at it this way. If "all top skiers of the 90s" were drugged (which they weren't), he was still the best one. If everyone is on drugs, they are still on equal terms, no? Your statement makes no sense.
