Maybe. On the other hand, how good is the typical assailant at staying on their feet?

27:00 The mistake is thinking Standing Grappling is this totally other category. You have to make it part of your daily / regular practice, but you'll see it's the same.

I want to thank all those disciplines (wrestling, sambo, judo) out there making Bjj better. If Bjj was never pressure tested or else, it would have become like Aikido. You can hate other sport (like me haha) but you have to acknowledge the improvement they bring to the one you love.

I disagree with this. The guard is a very important part of self defence especially for women. Even if you’re unable to score good takedowns (also very important) being able to prevent people from absolutely mauling your face when it goes to the ground and then creating the space to stand up and get away or take the fight to them is a very important skill.

Women tend to feel strong when using their legs and respond well when you teach them guard play. That said, if it's all about self-defense, I'd focus on Defensive Wrestling for Women. I think it should be self explanatory why.

The wrestling weight classes are way better than competitions with many smaller ones.
