How can someone play in just ONE film, losing themselves so entirely to the role they become the character, win best actress in Cannes, and decide to never be acting again. Björk can.
She me too'ed against Lars, she says acting in this movie was a traumatic experience akin to "emotional rape". No wonder she never wanted to act again, even though her performance was brilliant
@@gggallin8279 that's both true and horrible. And he knew what he was doing to someone who is perhaps the epitome of what an artist is : Björk was doomed to become the character.
To this day, Selma's death still breaks my heart, a mother gone too soon, damn i wish everyone can give her a big hug and somehow save her without sacrificing her son's operation, but i guess this world is too cruel for a happy ending even for a vulnerable woman like her. thanks for your brilliant performance Miss Björk, love you forever.
@@MaximumCarne I love bjork so it's my favorite movie too, I felt more connected to the movie and character cause it was her. And I have seen many movies. And it's not cause I want to be "different" everyone can have there own taste and opinion. You just see people as different if there not like you. Who wants to be a copy
@@london5182 yes! And its one of my favorite films too! There are films made better than this one. But thats what 'Favorite' is you know, that its the one you felt more deeply about. I have seen 'better' films than this, either technically or well crafted. But i felt more resonated with this than many others. And thats only thing that matters. One might say we are being pretentious. But this film is as raw as anything can get and really make you something. And if that doesn't happen then what is the use of films anyways??
It was very surprising to me how incredibly well Bjork acted as Selma, given that she is not an actor. Bjork's performance honestly convinced me more than multiple big name actors, she really made the character feel totally real
Dearest Björk. You are one of the people I look up to the most and I am thrilled that this is happening. I think perhaps you have slowly been translating from music to what can be represented in images. That is sublime and I say it as a hopefully meaningful compliment which I hope you accept. Gratitudes back to Björk warmth and endless respect. Claudia from Italy
One of my most favourite movies. Bjork was the only one who could play that role. A wonderful performance and the music was sensational. Bjork's music is always a treasure. I do love Lars von Trier. I have seen most of his movies.
shes just dissing lars the entire time, you can tell she doesnt fear him at all, but rather, sees him as a child. not in a disrespectful way but in a way that says "you have alot to learn kid" type of meme
Everything she says here really showed in her performance in the movie. I'm honestly surprised that it was her first acting gig, I never would've guessed.
Watched one of red carpet events and she kisses lars on the lips whithout hesitation everyones quick to accuse but no one asks the question why were there no charges laid? There so much bs about dunst and nicole reg lars when they repeatedly say how much they admire him
Björk is obviously an eccentric and volatile character, as well as being a strong feminist. It doesn't surprise me that she made the claim during the #MeToo movement, as Lars von Trier is also known to be a controversial character to work with (the 'ascetic auteur'-type).
@@MegaTuros Perhaps because she didn't feel comfortable doing so? and when all the Harvey Weinstein stuff was happening, so felt it was the right time.
After what seemed hours of somnambulant, pretentious crapulence, when the central character in "Dancer in the Dark" was FINALLY hanged, I exclaimed "I wish to Hell they'd done that about four hours ago." One of the worst movies I've ever had to endure.
And you went ALL that way to find this and comment…? If I see a bad film I don’t even bother watching it to the end, not to mention to find an interview with an actress and then making the effort of her talking about it and finally commenting on RU-vid about how bad it was. But each to their own!
