'Heut Ist Mein Tag' is the last ever German language pop song reaching Number 1 in Norway and the last ever German language pop song reaching a Single-GOLD certification in Sweden. This happened long ago, in the year 1999.
+Mister Anthropy well. 1962 German singer Connie Froeboess had a massive Number 1 Hit in Norway with 'Zwei Kleine Italiener' (2 Weeks at No 1 and 20 weeks Top 10). 1982 that years ESC Winner Nicole reached No 1 in Norway with 'Ein Bisschen Frieden'. 1986 Austrian singer Falco reached No 1 with 'Jeannie' for 4 consecutive weeks (Falco had alltogether 5 Top 10 single hits in Norway sung in German, which is to date the alltime record of a German singing artist in Norway...). 2005 'Schnappi' with 'Schnappi Das Kleine Krokodil' spent a record 7 weeks at No 1 in Norway! So in fact 'Heut Ist Mein Tag' is the last German language Number 1 in Norway by a 'real singing artist'. In mid 1992 the German titled mainly instrumental dance song 'Das Boot' by U96 reached No 1. 'Da Da Da' by Trio was very close but achieved 'only' 4 weeks No 2. Dschinghis Khan spent 10 weeks in the top 10 reaching No 3 at best. There are of course several German acts singing in English to reach the No 1 of the Norwegian single charts (i.e. Fools Garden with 'Lemon Tree' and, of course, Lena with 'Satellite', Modern Talkings 'Cheri Cheri Lady' and Sandras 'Maria Magdalena'). ESC 2010 winner Lena Meyer-Landrut holds the alltime record of selling the most singles of a German act in a specific week in Norway ever (but she only spent 1 week at No 1).
I discovered this song on Limewire when I was a freshman in high school in 2003. I was just searching for random techno songs and this song was called "German Happy Hardcore". I absolutely loved it even though I didn't know who it was actually by or what the lyrics meant or anything. It was just so happy and fun and had a killer beat. Then somehow or another I lost the file and I could never find this song again until like 4 days ago. Out of curiosity I searched "German Happy Hardcore" on RU-vid and there this song was under that name. I was super excited to find it again, and I found out the actual name of the song, artist, and got to watch the music video! This song is permanently in my music library now.
@@henrykjaronowski8023 um, yes, she says today is your day, and since she's saying it to me that would make it my day, ya moron. But thanks for trying...
This hit strengthens my memories from my childhood in the 90-thies and early 20-thies when me and my family went on summervacations from Sweden to Italy by car and passed beautiful places in Germany among other countries.
@Raven Knight Vincent: This was released in 1999...when Germany was pretty awesome. ...but I know what you mean xD. There is quite a distinct cross-cultural overlap in regards to "super wacky corniness" xD
Well it was used as part of an old meme from 2006ish called "Secret Nazi ______" where the blank was usually something mundane such as a google maps image where the buildings were in the shape of a swastika.
Last time i consciously listening to this i was 13 years old, it was 1999. where did the years go?! lets come together again in 22 years. 2043 i will search for this comment.
I might be the few handful of kids in the USA 🇺🇸 that was actually listening to this growing up. Was born in the U.S but some how got pull into the European dance/trance music wave. Was in the U.S listening to Euro trance 😄😄
This song and video exudes a genuine kind of joy that i think died some time after the 90's. This was pure happiness in a song/video for me as a kid, (still is) this song makes me remember how good it made me feel, and she looks so happy and i love it! It's so wholesome and pure. I never see people happy like this anymore 😔
I’m an American who only knows this song because my home room was with the German teacher freshman year of high school and she played this song a lot. It’s a bop tbh

danke! Today is my day Today is my day I feel good And open my heart Let the sun shine in Every day should be a gift And what to be special I get up and look out the window Into a sky blue The ghosts of the night are driven away And I know exactly Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day (Today is my day) Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day I look in the mirror Put something special on me It is unbelievable Because you can look so good I dance in the street Laugh in people's faces Everything thinks I'm crazy Because they don't know Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day Today is my day (Today is my day) Today is my day…
This sounds like a song that would be used in a website where people can post gifs combined with music and they would use this every time they find a picture with a hidden swastika.
