1:06:43 I disagree. My dad was physically abusive, but I ended up fine. If only my mother was around, I would've turned out worse because she wouldn't have been able to control me. A lot of the time I only listened to her because I knew my dad would render physical consequences if I didn't. I think this is the case for a lot of young boys. The ones in the streets mostly have no father at home. A father's presence alone is extremely important. Whether he's a good father or not. (Obvious exceptions are if he's sexually abusive to the kids or a drug/alcohol addict)

Social media isn't representative of life in most situations and it frustrating to hear certain topics pushed as if it is. There are two primary reasons for social media in the eyes of its designers and it's 1 advertising and 2 social engineering. Social media is really good at both. It's really good at making fringe groups and making them seem larger than they are in reality. We must remember that we (the user) are ultimately the product for sale.

Because a man abandoning his child is the worst abuse he can do, you're confusing abuse with discipline and those two things are not the same. And my point is that those families were a whole lot better with those men being there vs them not being there. Regardless of how much y'all hated him he encouraged women to get laser focused in finding a suitable mate within a given age window. Y'all don't have as much time as men to figure it out so you have to make it just as much of a priority as you do your education and career. A lot of y'all either don't take relationships seriously and don't properly vet men or simply prioritize superficial traits like swag and height over character and values, hence why so many of y'all are babymamas. Ebony is a beautiful woman and she has way more access to men of means in her social circle than the average woman. There is no way she couldn't find a suitable man.

From that day of proposal and date was set on my birthday because his FATHER said it does not count if there is no matrimony date of a wedding so people can prepare and expect you both to follow thru. My father was dead and mom is now dead but she was at the wedding before death thankfully.

Facts in my circle of fellow Nigerians, African Americans or Spanish we are all relatively successful and stable in a variety of careers from service men and women to C suite executives. We don’t get together with our kids and listen to glorilla or young thug . We discuss future of our kids and push or help each other to be the best version of themselves. It’s social media and tv that mostly glorify just rappers , drug dealers and athletes. I mean look at all the shows on big meech and black family or shows like ghost based on the underworld. That’s why I watch the Anthony oneal show or earn your leisure podcast because they show case successful blacks outside of the norm that’s promoted . In college while I read slam or vibe magazine I also had a subscription to black enterprise magazine. So I knew who Robert smith or David steward over 20 years ago. I get that from growing up in Nigeria with a father who might allow us to read jet, vibe or black magazines we had times and Newsweek he made us read . This expanded our horizons and world knowledge . My Dad didn’t care much for secular entertainment dude had us watching documentaries on volcanoes lol. I also read books on freaking rice farming or bios of Colin Powell and Lee Iacocca. I impart the same to my kids and even though living in around these influences people see a difference in my kids . It’s all about how you educate you kids and rear them. The convo in these spaces never ascends to how do we raise kids to be the next great minds like Elon musk , bill gates , Jeff bezos , Robert smith etc. Wd just yap about baby mamas or low marriage rates . How about we bring actually married couples into these spaces to provide a roadmap to how to attain and maintain a success marriage and well raised kids .

Our expectations were HEALTH Our faith base differences Family and friends Education Finances Travel Conflict resolution Strong efforts and boundaries All that stuff he said was good however we both discussed together what would work for the two of us long term and some COMPRISE and love towards our differences base off our upbringing’s nobody is changing anyone we accept one another and we evolved as our marriage grew stronger on the basis of our differences dealing with challenges. Ladies Gents just get legal council and marital council before committing to a legal documents or having children if you can.
