Black American Woman Shares Her Experience Dating Nigerian Men! 

AA Married to a Nigerian, 🙋🏾‍♀️ it will be 4 years in February. It was long distance for 3+ years, now that he’s here 🤦🏾‍♀️💆🏾‍♀️ it’s too much. He’s possessive, insecure and has explosive anger. I wanted to be married to a strong, cultural, man. I want my peace back, being alone is not so bad. I feel bad for Nigerian women, dealing with Nigerian men is not easy.

They look at all men as a wallet. Not just Nigerian men.

I think most Nigerian men know how they are viewed and play accordingly. If you want to play lets play, in the most cases its a loss for the woman.

A lot of problem w black community is we have a grass is greener why us mentality when I’m reality everybody (race) to different extremes of course go through the same exact thing

I should have been a part of this discussion. My man is Nigerian and he is adamant about not dating Nigerian women. It’s sad because I’m sure there are some wonderful Nigerian women. I hate when men group a whole race like that. It’s silly to me. I plan to talk to him about it eventually. It’s like black American men who do that to black American women.

They definitely don’t want them as they are not good looking most of em lol but women in general will get with anybody that’ll let them live a comfortable life as you get older and they black so it’s not like they selling out my guess as a aa man

Hope I'm not intruding on this space, as a Nigerian Man i know a lot of it is also for them papers.... personally Id prefer a Nigerian woman was raised outside of Nigeria simply cause itd be an easier cultural/values match. I was rasied Najia but out of the country so i have many other influences. But i want black kids and aint limiting possibilities....For context, I live in the US

interesting conversation but can't be had with out the African American women you speak about. The dating pool is shallow people want who want them but there is layers to it. African American men aren't on the same level as the women. African men (many times) are... if you want a black partner and black children who at the minimum are financially taken care of... the options are few. But let's be real African men come with other problems. The grass isn't always greener but I think it's important to explore your options and not set too detailed of expectations of the future (when it comes to other people).

This is exactly why my successful educated wealthy cultured sons are single. I’m of course a black woman and this is sad. You take care of yourself. My sons were not raised to pay your bills or for anything else you want. Young girls get real and realize no man is supposed to pay your way

Listen, if you as men are not being appreciated by your woman and she doesn't view you as her King as you the man view her as your Queen, I think something is very wrong. From a male standpoint GRATITUDE is one of the GREATEST CURRENCY women can offer. Being UNGRATEFUL is one of the most FOUL TRAITS a woman can posses. Great appreciation for each other should be abundant or there's no point for the RELATIONSHIP, additionally, it with CERTAINTY I say that RELATIONSHIP without GENUINE GRATITUDE and APPRECIATION will not last...

I will like to leave my opinion and experience as im currently married to a Nigerian guy as a born African American...it takes alot of courage and strength to date a Nigerian let alone marry because of the culture differences and upbringing on both parts..ive been with my husband 7 years, and 2 years married and sometimes i get so tired and exhausted i be wanting my peace..but i pray and try keep my marriage..my husband is not a bad guy but sometimes he's very stubborn..and i agree with a few other comments, but i have been in Nigeria much and each time im in nigeria i stay 3 months i hear from many Nigerian women dey are tired of Nigerian men as well .. Nigerian men complain nigerian women want wealthy nigerian men so things are changing ..but lastly i really think Ghanaian men are more disciplined and not as headstrong as nigerian men

Cj He had me believing I was His Queen & He was my King.But I was so used & brought up with costly things,but he was not used to that.He thought I was too expensive.He wanted me to have things but from shops that was resale.Plus he was very possessive & jealous.

Cj I was once married to a Nigerian & it did not work we had so many differences due to our cultures.We had a daughter who passed away in 2015 at the age of 35 years old right here in the U.S.

The very first thing that was said is that African men are being objectified by African American women. And then y'all go on to describe how African women objectify African men 😂😂😂. Most women objectify men regardless of race. Having the goal of wanting to be a wife means you are objectifying men, your end goal has no face or soul. You just want the wedding celebrations and the titles that your culture hold in high regards, which is fine. Also there are black people in the UK and South America that are far removed from their African roots like us Americans. I'm sure dating any one of them would be completely different than dating a man from any African country with centuries of historical/familial culture. The thing is we all have different cultures. We speak of Africa as if it's one city and not a continent of different people. Would a South African white woman have similar experiences to a dark skinned woman from Cameroon? Would a Chinese Jamaican man in England find the black women there comparable to the women back on the island? Not at all. It's all culture based, I've noticed that Latina women are more loyal to their men than most women of other races. Latina women in general seem to be more loyal regardless of a man's financial situations, so i would say they objectify the least. The proof is in the hundreds of thousands of women who walked thousands of miles with their baby daddy's, boy friends and husbands. Just to make it to another country be homeless and pan handle. That's real love right there. If it was actually about being a great wife and mother. You would say i want to find a suitable husband and a father, not I want to be a wife.

Wrong once again! I never implied men need anything from women. Example: Our Aunt’s 80th birthday was celebrated last month. To alleviate extra travel, to save time and just being overall considerate, my sons booked a 5 bedroom Georgian area house for family. So no, they know exactly what to do and how to do it and would never need or desire the likes of you. And please believe I am struggling to remain polite as it’s obvious you’re lacking in all areas.

Who said that lol ? African men prefer African women first, and then right after that non black women. Nothing wrong with American women but typically we do not seek marriage with ANY man outside of our ethnicity. Me as an American who has dated and almost married a Nigerian, the only reason we got that far was because he was whitewashed, Americanized, (red flag), he paid for all the events that both my family, and his family attended, we were looking at rings and our families spent the holidays together. I met some his family who came In to visit from Nigeria, he threw me a surprise party and both of our families came and they brought me gifts. He was a u.s citizen, He had a mapout from beginning to the end he was very intentional. His family that I met was kind and loving, but I felt in the bottom of soul he was just trying to use me to quickly check off a box. I never believed I was his original type. He kept telling me when we get married blah blah blah. I said if we get married. I was scared he would marry me knock me up and run off to who he truly wanted to be with. No thank you. He started acting possessive and I had to leave and threaten to get a restraining order. Also I think witchcraft was in the mix.
