I drank Palm wine many times throughout west Africa, and thought I had a handle on it. Well, once in Guinea I had authentic 'from God to man' palm wine for the first time. And I didn't have a handle on anything. Most palm wine is watered down and sugar or honey is added. The real deal, fresh from the tap, with nothing added, is a monster. I drank two cups one afternoon, realized how drunk I was, and went to take a nap so I'd be fresh for a business dinner. Well, 12 hours later I wake up at 2am, astounded that Palm wine shortened my life by half a day. Like the Wu Tang Clan, real Palm wine ain't nothing to f*CK with!

I can't wait to get some. I drink this 1st think in the morning when I'm on the farm in Liberia.

Be a bit careful, sometimes people sell fake palm wine with grain or blinding/wood alcohol. I would not recommend buying from unknown street sources. Buy from stores or known makers. Many families make their own, so ask a friend for contact.
