You are witnessing REAL musicians who have REAL skills in playing guitar ... all of them have put in a lot of work and many hours of practice honing their skills. BRAVO!
Tommy is an Australian guitarist who used to tour with his brother and sister as young kids back in the early 1960's in an old Holden station wagon driven by their dad. His brother Phil was a phenomenal electric guitarist but sadly couldn't kick his drug habit. I don't think he is alive anymore. Tommy would have to be around 67 years of age by now (2002) and probably still going strong. Even John Williams can still belt out a Bach fugue etc at 80 years of age; unbelievable!
Hey guys...thanks for watching. Yeah..that was a good CAAS year. I saw Gary Potter recently in Ullapool at the guitar fest there. He sounded great as usual. A terrific and wonderfully inventive player. One of my favorites to jam with....as is Tommy...also Jim Nichols, Pat Bergeson, Bryan Sutton and David Grier among others....and that's just the guitar players..
This brings back good memories. I was at this jam but unfortunately didn't have a camcorder till the following year. I was always impressed by Bob Saxton and how he could go toe-to- toe with anyone including Tommy at these jams. Documentation of what a great player he is. Anyone interested in seeing rare footage from CAAS check out my chanel for these players and many more. Thanks.
