This film documents the process of harvesting, pounding, and weaving black ash. A group of Odawa from Little Traverse Bay, Michigan travel to Beaver Island where the emerald ash borer has been delayed in its invasion. The group harvests 2 ash trees and brings them back to the mainland to practice a centuries old tradition that is endangered of disappearing.

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada led me to Robin Wall Kimmerer's book Braiding Sweetgrass. That book has brought me here. Beautifully shot film.
