In today's video we're taking you to the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, West Midlands. You're stepping into the life of the Peaky Blinders!
Black Country Living Museum as the name suggests is a living museum that takes you back in time to the early 1900's, we're treated to sets and reenactments from this time period. This includes getting detailed looks into what life would have been like back in the day for the people living in these parts.
On the site of the Black Country Living Museum you have loads of faithful recreations of buildings as they would have been back in the day. You have butchers and bakers, sadly no candle stick makers but you do also have a bakery and that was cool to see!
As we tour the museum we come across the mines, a school house and a church, each of these buildings transports you back in time, as do the actors inside, these actors all have their own backstory too so do ask them about life in the Black Country.
We also had the chance to go through the Canals. This is a separately ticketed area located across the river, here we take a canal boat through the canals to see what it would have been like to be working down the mines and transporting the coal along the waterways.
There is also a section that is slightly newer, geared towards the 1940's/1950's, this is an ever expanding complex. You also have a fun faire here too!
As part of the museum you also have a car garage where you can see faithfully restored vehicles from across the years.
