Tom segura-the first 48 or the bit he does about meeting Mike Tyson. After that you'll definitely go down the rabbit hole. Oh and the bit about someone bringing a baby into the movie theater, classic stuff
This was 2006. A comedian from Philly was booed and destroyed. A few more comedians including Tracy Morgan went up and the audience cut his 20 mins to 7 mins by heckling. Patrice O Neal and a couple others had a good set but they still booed more comedians over the next 2 hrs and finally a fed up Bill goes up. He was highly upset that such great comedians were getting booed off. The rest is history.
An interesting side note, Bill said himself that, while he regrets not keeping himself composed, he wished he had insulted people directly that were sitting in the crowd, like insulting somebody’s weight or hair ect.. So wish I could’ve been there for this 😂😂😂
Don't forget to mention they were booing for no reason they didn't give any comedian except Patrice O'Neal a chance because he was an established member of the Opie and Anthony show which was extremely popular in Philly
In an interview, Bill said he thought his career was over. He thought he was going to have to start looking for a job on Monday and the other comedians on the show had to tell him he got a standing ovation as he walked off stage.
I was at that show. Camden, NJ. The crowd sucked. People were out drinking for hours in the sun before a 3 hour show and they booed Dom Irerra, a Philly legend. And Bill said, the hell with the fans and went off on them. And, in the end, the greatest show I've ever been to. He abandoned his set to take his entire time slot to roast Philly.
The funny thing is that Bob Saget was just off stage to the side the whole time with his mouth wide open in both amazement and horror just watching Bill do what every comedian has thought of at least once. 😂
And when Bill stepped off, heated and sweating, Bob looked him in the face and said "I don't think you realize what just happened". The rest is legend.
@@MunfuBittythis is actually false information, Billy said it himself, only like 2 guys got booed before him, he was just trying to have a good set and he bombed with the first joke and they started booing, which made him snap, he did not go on stage with the intention of ripping Philly apart like that🤣🤣 the comedians who were there with him had to calm him down afterwards because he thought he jus had a horrific set
His callout on the minutes is because the crowd had interrupted the other comedians with so much heckling and booing and several comedians walked off early because they couldnt get a word out.... so Bill saying "I'm taking ALL my time" is another F you to the crowd.
As bullshit as the crowd was he won them over and saved the festival. He knew exactly what to do and stood up for his friends after booing them all for hours. Straight improv because he knew his prepared set wouldnt work. Bill is definitely top 5 all time.
Actually bill in an interview confessed that the crowd we literally wasn’t as bad as the stories claim, he said they were a little hard on a couple of the comics but overall he was having a bad day, and he lost his temper, and he was kind of an asshole. He said the stories gotten bigger and better over the years but it’s a lot of exaggeration too.
I’m sure y’all read all these comments explaining this. But something that I didn’t see mentioned was that he got a standing ovation. Not everyone stood, but the majority of the crowd stood. And back stage, Bog Sagat came up to him saying that was the best comedy he has seen in years. Bill said he wasn’t doing comedy up there. He was pissed and just talking shit. So when Bob Sagat said that was genius and legendary, he didn’t believe him.
I think I remember hearing Burr talk about this on his podcast. 1) he was genuinely pissed off, and 2) he has never watched this video, and refuses to, because he is still pissed about it.
Bill Burr said that the show occurred in pure daylight w. a lot of hecklers in football jerseys throwing a football around, etc. He said that comedy should always be held in a dark/seedy place & so he knew that this setting was wrong right from the get!😂👍
The night Bill Burr became "un-cancelable" The crowd had been booing the other comedians, even well-known comedians, making them cut their acts mad short. The way he was destroying the Eagles was perfect!🤣🤣🤣
Bro I’m laughing my ass off, you the first reaction I’ve watched that straight up said that Phillys a s*** city bro 😂😂😂 aye though respect to Philly and respect to y’all man, thx for the reaction
I was at this when it happend, he was getting booed for doing his set, also Dom Marera was getting booed right before him, and then he went on this rant. It was great to be honest when he started roasting us, everyone loved it.
Bill snapped before he even got on stage because of the way they booed the acts before him. When they started the same shit on him, he wasn't having it. He later said on some radio show that he regretted it, that it wasn't professional, but everyone respects him for it, even the people in Philly.
They were doing an all day comedy event in Philly. Bill was like the 4th or 5th comedian to go on. By the time the comedians before him got on stage the crowd was bombed and belligerent. Then Dom Irrera (Sp?) went on and got booed. Dom is a Philly and comedy legend. Bill was so annoyed with the crowd that when he went on stage he just went off. The funny thing is, he is not very happy about how he acted, even though everyone else thinks it was legendary.
there is a back story to this, you need to google his reaction to this. There was several interviews with him explaining why this happen the way that it did. The crowd was heckling all the comedians and Bill Burr wasnt going to have it.
I was at this show... A radio based in NYC Opie and Anthony did a comedy tour called the Virus Tour with a bunch of comedians. The first comedian who came on was not doing good so the crowd started to boo him and the comedian walked off stage. Bill was up next to perform. Bill up to this point had not been appearing on the show that often and also he was not was well known as he is now. Bill started to do his set... And the crowd because they got the first guy to leave the stage wanted to see if they could get Bill off the stage. The fans of the show were a pretty hardcore fanbase of the radio are the ones booing because the radio Show itself was a mean show. So the fans mirrored the hosts. The venue was not in Philly but in Camden NJ right across the river from Philly so it was called the Philly show. I did not boo..lol... The best part to me was when Bill was doing the count down to how long he had left...
This was Bill going off after the crowd heckled all the comedians on before him and most walked off. He kept calling out the time as a proverbial FU to the hecklers!
Words can't describe the awesome fury of Bill on this night. Background knowledge is necessary to understand it, once someone understands that, this should be the most epic stand up in history to any and everybody. Burr is a genius at his lowest points, and a comedic god at his highest points
when people request the philly rant, they should explain the context. everyone ive seen react to this is sitting there going, "i wonder why .." wouldnt it be better if they could just react to the roast going, "i heard bill was sick of this crowd booing the other comedians so he went off on them. so lets see this philly roast". the jokes are better knowing the context in the first place than having reacters going in blind wondering why this happened.
You can hear crowd turn, and eventually gets a damn near standing ovation. I would pay almost any price to see what oatrices reaction to this was backstage, I'd imagine he was proud of ole billy boy here
I LOVED how hard she laughed every time that Bill called out the time remaining! It is so petty in the best way! Remember, that camera phones in the early 2000's were still in megabytes, and not that many. I was Combat Camera in the Air Force when this happened and my professional cameras were running 2-4 GB cards, now I have TB cards. Cameras on phones were not good back then.
Just to correct a lot of these other comments, I saw an interview with Bill burr where he admitted he probably overreacted and was a little bit of an asshole. He did say that the crowd was a little rough on a couple of the comics, but the rudeness of the crowd has kind of grown over the years with all of the stories and rumors, and he said they really weren’t that bad. He was just having a very bad day and lost his cool.
There's a whole video of Bill Burr talking about why he flipped out on the philly crowd and it's hilarious too. Lol. Makes a lot more sense too after you hear it.
❤🙏🏻🇬🇧😂🤣😂🤣😂 Bill has my respect for the balls to stand up for other comedians who got disrespected on stage. He could have been mobbed by the crowd but didn't give a fuck! His references were on point.💯🇬🇧🤣🤣
This is a famous rant. It was a radio show crowd. And they shit on all the comedians. Bill came up and roasted them back and they loved it. It was hate vs hate but in real life. They unleashed Super Mega Bill. And everyone was laughing by the end. LOL!
Philly is notorious for booing people, and they been booing comics all night, then started booing him - so he just took all h is time and went in on them
The absolute greatest 12 minutes of comedy in the history of comedy. And the best part is that he pulled 100% of it straight out of his ass. If that doesn't prove that he's the funniest man on earth, then nothing does.
i wish i coulda seen the other comedians backstage while they watched him destroy this crowd 😂 patrice o’neal & tracy morgan were probably doubled over laughing
Oo this is the shit show that he tell in roasting interview compilation.. that he tell crowd already booing from 1st show.. until his turn n his get boo also then his snap n start attack the crowd fuckup with everything their love in straigh 3 hour or like that.. yoo this clip is legend.. 😂😂😂
I don't know what the specifics of his contract was but normally in any kind of performance venue the performer has to do a minimum amount of time and has a maximum depending if he's the closer or middle act. If he's a closer and goes over his time he is responsible for paying the staff: security, servers, janitors, etc..usually. But it depends on the performer and the venue. He probably had a minimum time/maximum time. The comics behind him probably did their minimum time after the crowd turned on them. Bill did not back down and instead chose to not entertain but insult the crowd. And he completed his contractual maximum time.
No comedian has ever done this! Not Dave Chappelle, not nobody! He took on a whole stadium, a whole city AND won them over! The heat, the smoke, the intestinal fortitude to take in that level of hate and spit it back at an entire people! This on top of what he did on SNL! No Comedian has ever!
My son-in-law is from Camden, NJ and I have heard some serious stories from him over the last few years since he and my daughter married. They met in a scenic little mountain town in North Georgia where they were working one summer and no one could understand why he was so paranoid and aggressive-acting when they first started. After everyone got to know one another a bit better and heard a few of his stories of how things were for him in Camden growing up they understood his attitude a lot better lol. He chilled out a lot by the end of summer but even now, five years later, he's continuously surprised by how friendly and relaxed people in GA can be, even those like my daughter who might have grown up in the South but primarily lived in bigger cities like Atlanta and Austin, TX. She's much more outgoing than what he's used to but by no means is she naive or innocent. Compared to some of his experiences in Camden and Philadelphia she's had a positively candy-coated childhood though, a fact she never fails to point out to him anytime he starts sounding as though he might be missing his childhood home. I always tell him As long as they don't take my grandbabies up North to stay we'll all get along just fine! 😉
It was a comedy festival where he was one of the top billings and the crowd was drunk as hell booing previous performers and being loud and Philly like. So he just said f*ck it. Just went in on them.
Oh, I remember when this first dropped. These people bought tix to a show filled with great comics and they went after everyone. Guess they thought they were at an Eagles game.
Philadelphia is called “the city of brotherly love,” which is a reference to the culture. How do brothers show each other love? Maybe think of the boos as actually being a secret code for a Philadelphia Cheer. 🤔
If I remember right , It was like a dumb american football game and then it was a Comedy marathon of 12 or 24 hours . And the crowd got hammered and started booing each comedians . And Bill Burr decided he wouldnt have any of that shit . And won the crowd in the end .
