couldnt agree more brother - kids today have nothing to listen to like we did - cant imagine a single tune in todays charts that will be remembered in 40 months let alone 40 years - mabye we werent the lost generation after all ???
Great version of a classic song. Thanks for the post. The more you dig into their catalog, the better the Crowes get. I hope their hiatus is short, they are in a really creative period with all cylinders firing.
Excellent cover the Lowell George classic. Also check out The Byrds version. Also a band from the early 1970s, named Seatrain with Peter Rowan, did a great job on this tune. Two other members of Seatrain were Andy Kulberg & Roy Blumenfeld of The Blues Project.
amazing Little Feat song. This cover is right up there with Linda R....i have looked deeply, and really there are only about 2 or 3 people/bands that do this song justice. The Black Crowes head the list.
If you haven't heard it.... chk out The Midnight Ramble Bands version.....It's after Levon died (God rest his soul) & with a female singer, but great instruments...Pretty good version. I'm a big Levon fan, from the same neck of the woods in Arkansas.....Don't tell anyone, but I smoked a joint with Levon Shhhhh.

just because they wrote it doesn't mean they "did" it better. Most of the time the cover is not as good but in this case it was better. Also that's why I said kicks all other "covers" ass.

agreed....the Commander Cody version is beyond square....it's almost painful. Feat nailed the proper vibe for this song live on Waitin' For Columbus....everyone else is doing the faster tempo....plus you get Bill Payne's stupdendous piano solo on that version.

sometimes, people cover other's songs because they actually like them, theyre not trying to *be* them nor *sound or emulate* them....They just like the song.... Everyone is always trying to piss on someone's parade.
I think it fits more for men, because imagining Linda as a female truck driver doesn't work as well for me. Also the lyrics generally fit not so much for a woman I would say. But it's just my opinion...
Jim Chance, I’ll take the band that wrote 99.99% of their own material as opposed to the artist who just sang songs written for her to sing. Creativity with grace trumps just a pretty voice... for me anyways
