Black culture glorifies drugs, gangs, shooting, scamming, baby mommas, absent fathers, prison pride, victimization, no snitching, and then blames 200 year old events or other races. Black culture in the USA is the issue. You don’t see large groups of Asian Americans doing smash and grab robberies because their culture is about respect and hard work. Black culture in the USA celebrates the wrong things. Blacks from Nigeria etc come to the USA and become DOCTORS with the same skin tone as supposed “oppressed” black Americans. This is the most privileged country in the world. Zero excuse for the epidemic of black NON excellence. Africa todays has living slaves being held by other blacks. Send the reparations to them and stop making excuses.

Perception is reality. How the media portrays us is what Destiny's people believe us to be. People never notice who is in control of the media and who the music execs are. It's definitely not us. They maintain the status quo, and the average white American believes everything that they see on tv about us, which is why i don't have these kinds of discussions with them. I believe that these are conversations that we should be having amongst ourselves. We have to start by fixing ourselves in order to change the narrative and everyone elses perception.

Your right, and the worst part is that its the whole world . They have delibretly corrupted our image and pushed it to the whole wòrld, this is why people from across the seas like asia have negative image of us, even though they have never interacted with us. Speaking of asia, south korea is a good example of the type of influnce you can hace with the media , they have pushed their k-pop and k-dramas to the world while controlling their own narratives and image and now subconsciously people have a positive image of them, seeing them as "cool & respectable", when before nobody even bat an eye.

Us every day Black folks that live well don’t pay attention to the garbage that’s being fed on television and the radio. My kids steer clear of that. It’s not our culture or the culture of their Black friends. All people have to do is stop paying it attention and the narrative will switch. Just like a kid, if gets attention, it will keep on going as long as it has you captive. As parents, we need to spend more time with our kids and explain to them what they see out there ain’t it. I grew up on rap music but knew the difference between BS and reality. It’s time we separate that and steer away from the BS.

We contributed all musice in america. Rock, blues, r&b, worship music. Which are just some of the music styles we influenced or created.
@linkonabe220
@linkonabe220 3 месяца назад
Who exactly is “we”? If we’re going based on skin colour, sure there’s *alot* of things white people have done that can easily outweigh that argument of simply creating music. Let’s get this right, and keep it straight: *You* didn’t contribute to music in America of any kind. The *ancestors* in which you’re likely unrelated to contributed and did so with the help of white people. It’s *very* unwise to state something you’ve had no choice in the matter of creating as something to be proud of, never mind something to be boastful about. This concept of being proud should be meant for those of the same thought, ideology, morals, values and traditions. Such as a nation or tribe or one’s self and their own actions. This is because without that thought, ideology, moral, value etc being shared, thus contributing through its continuance in time, nothing would be keeping a nation or tribe going and propelling them to success responsibly A skin colour is far from meaning you share anything in common with the other person other than your skin. Africans who actually live on the continent and come from such a place can barely call black Americans “African” because they’re so dispatched from the continent never mind the culture. The excuse of your ancestors can no longer be a reason to claim incompetence or ignorance because you now know what happened. Once you know, it’s your responsibility to learn more and partake in what was once taken from you to pass it down your line of lineage as it should have been so long ago. To claim pride in skin is to accept those who’ve sinned greatly that share the same coat. What you’re looking for is the credit but not the responsibility, so why bother making the choice to add your name to the list of those who actually sacrificed to add value?

@linkonabe220
@linkonabe220 3 месяца назад
@@renahgade1750 No, it didn’t come from “us” because “we” made squat. And to feel *you* of all people need to be unapologetically proud about something you did nothing to help build is sad. The history is quite clear and it’s there for others to see. You’re not the arbiter of truth or the vail of enlightenment At this point you’re making it *your* mission to centre yourself as the one race who must state “they” did this or that What other race do you see doing such ridiculous things? About none, maybe a few but the vast majority isn’t and they’re almost all in the west working to break things down so we don’t have walls dividing such silly little things Is history not enough? You do understand the black man also fudged the history books up quite a bit don’t you? Once more, or do you want to pick and choose what history to defend for your sake of feeling? Who cares who questions where it came from. You weren’t there creating it. You did *nothing* to help make it. Not you, your friend, your family. The ones who made it are the ancestors in their gr*ves What you should be questioning is your origin in where you came from and work on passing that on to your lineage, rather than *consistently* looking in the past like you own it and need an @rmy of people to defend the tale of how this kind of music was made. The excuse of the past is no longer valid because you know what happened and can’t play naive and ignorant any more. The defence you should be having is actually helping to find which part of the world “we” came from rather than choosing to proudly state someone who shares the same skin colour of you made music that now celebrates degenerates, sh***tings, r-pe and other such disgusting behaviour. How do you know that hip hop didn’t gather any inspiration from white folks back in the day? History books have been known to lie, but that seems to always be omitted when it’s convenient for the cause. You don’t know because you weren’t there. You’re bored in life and want to champion something you took no part in to feel important. “Your people” did nothing. The same way as another race can say “their people did nothing” in regards to certain b*mb.s dropped in certain areas. You know who helped build those and work on those and maintain those? Black people. So when will you be taking responsibility for that or do you only want the credit for the good things?

NO NO NO NO NO!!!! Uncle Luke, Master P, Dungeon Family, Big Tymers were all "Underground" artists. They had to hustle tapes and CDs. For the longest, they were regional artists that most people didn't hear about except in clubs on occasion; but oftentimes the music didn't take because of regional sounds and tastes. They were segregated raunchiness. Then came minor labels that took a chance on them like BMG and Island Music. Only after big, major labels with millions in promotion and SoundCloud did these local artists get big. They needed national distribution before the internet.

So nobody's gonna keep it funky, huh? I understand what Candace is saying, but unfortunately everyone seems to be ignoring or simply dismissing the point he's really trying to make. The problem is, he's afraid to say what he really means. Which is, the "media" nor the government has anything to do with these artists decisions to put out that particular "art," and that it's ACTUALLY a reflection of the CULTURE. I don't believe he's truly knowledgeable of "black" culture, but the music tells the story whether or not we choose to be honest about it. We gotta stop pretending that these artists don't represent the characters in our actual communities. That the promiscuity, the violence, the lack of education is not ACTUALLY PREVALENT in our ACTUAL COMMUNITIES. Yes, we know the government has always had an agenda to "oppress" us. But what about the abuse we inflict upon each other? After all these years, what excuse do we have? Have you been to Chicago lately? What about Baltimore? St. Louis? Detroit? Memphis? Do I need to continue? Are we still not ready to be honest about "our people?" If not now, when? Things are getting considerably worse, yet there's still no commitment to change, let alone accountability. You can cry and lie to the world, but how much longer will you lie to yourselves? I'm just saying. Peace...✊🏾💯

What I can say is if you look at media overall since it's inception. We have always been fascinated with crime & sex. During and after prohibition was cool to drink, make, smuggle alcohol, and plenty of movies, tv series, and, songs and books glorified it. The gangsters that ruled Vegas are famous. We have an infatuation with sex and crime. I forget which Italian gangster it was, but he went crazy and passed from complications due to syphilis. I remember watching a video, I’m not sure if it was Diddy saying it or another music executive saying it (I think it was Diddy). But he said he didn’t want to sign very talented singers, because you can’t control them. Due to their huge talent, they have leverage. If you do something they don’t want, they feel like they can get signed elsewhere because of their talent. But if you sign an artist with no talent or _just enough_ talent, you can easily control them because nobody else wants them. An untalented artist won’t walk away and you can fully control them. I think that’s what’s happening in the industry. There are a lot of untalented artists providing trashy content. They lack talent, but the execs love them because they are controllable due to lack of talent.

Shes actually right in a lot of what she says and she fights for the black community to become better and hold ourselves accountable... i think you'd see where shes actually right on alot of things that people give her hell for

What she is saying is that it was not mainstream when she was growing up. It may have been played in the hood but you didn't have it in your face on the radio and internet. Music was produced because of talent, vocals were natural and there was a decency and self esteem being put out there. I kept waiting for you to yell "Big screen", dang. The fact he is missing is yes this is top down propaganda because those at the top are STILL trying to destroy black people by ruining there culture!

The problem is you dont really want to listen to her. She is right and yes we had music like carbi b out there but we had a place for that type of music and a name for it. We had that type of music only playing at night when the kids were asleep and we called it grown folks music. Grown folk music was Marvin Gaye and anybody talking about sex. The dance music and party music was clean music that kids could listen to. Once the world started loving it the powers that be did what they always do to us and they git ahead of it and redirected our music. They pushed grown folks music to the front and pushed our real music to the back. This method allowed others to copy our style and profit off of it way better then we did. For example when Boyz to Men came out they became the biggest boy band since New Edition and what happened? They created four white boy band to copy boyz to men and they pushed those bands over boyz to men and when boyz to men was not doing good anymore they shut down those white boy bands. They are watching us like a hawk and anytime one of us thrive they will create an white opposite to rival that person. Beyonce took over the market so they created Taylor Swift to counter her. They also created Lady Gaga and others as well.

Hey Shaq, there are plenty of videos out there with singers, rappers and the like explaining how the music industry execs made a conscience decision to only or primarily promote debasing music with degrading music, that whey we do not have balance in music like before when you could listen to to NWA or Public Enemy, the Xclan for example or we would listen to Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, The Commodores….the list is endless writing glowing and uplifting music about life, our community and loving our women and treating them like ladies. Remember this those’d who signs the checks make the decisions, of that does not absolve us of our responsibilities.

Does having a grandma from Saint Thomas make her Caribbean? Caribbean is not a race by the way, besides slavery was in the Caribbean 100 before any slave was brought to the American colonies and lasted longer.. actually because of the American civil war.. other countries in Latin America and the Caribbean started abolishing slavery because they got scared of facing a civil war that would leave the same devasting, but USA was the last to enter the slaves trade and the first ones to abolished slavery , in my country Puerto Rico slaves trade began in 1513 .. is believe 1509, and even that the Spanish the the Spanish passed the decree of 1789 allowing slaves to earn or buy the freedom was all BS and it wasn't to the Slaves revolted on 1868 that the Spanish abolished slavery on March 22 of 1873 with the condition that slaves had to work 3 more years for their freedom! June 19th looks sweet to many in the Caribbean.. this is not a victimhood Olympics.., but for some reason some Black Americans like you by choice choose to remain ignorant about the suffering of slaves everywhere Including Africa who still have slaves..
