tl;dw - back attack float after each headbutt
Gotha Rensa deals very high damage and has a difficult mechanic that will wipe the player when done incorrectly.
At 75% HP he will sheath his axes and headbutt a total of 5 times. You must float CC him with a back attack after each headbutt. You have to do it 4 times, or he will enrage and kill you. He will roar at you after every successful float, so make sure you dodge them.
He will repeat the headbutt mechanic two more times, once at 50% HP, once at 25% HP
Recommended sheet AP: 281 with Kutum
Boss AP cap: 691 (0% further AP effectiveness)

wish they would play test some of these before they release them. The fact that players have to rely on their RNG cc's to work SOMETIMES, just for the boss to enrage and one shot them anyways is completely bullshit. Hitting all 4/5 floats on back attacks just for it to fail regardless and get one shotted is bottom tier gameplay.

Impossible on Guardian, our skill animation is too heavy to CC + back attack on something that keep face you every single time in rapid succession. Should just stick on simple CC instead of need to back attack when not every class is equal when comes to movements.

For any awak warriors I recommend the first half of merciless and then frenzied strkies and cycling through, by the time the next headbutt is ready your other skill will be off cooldown

As a Dosa, every time I dash to get behind him my dash goes too far and it makes him out of range of my cc skills and before I can get to him, he turns around. Thank you for the guide, at least now I know that what I was trying to do was correct... I guess I'm sticking to IV for dailies until I have enough AP to just burst him down after landing 1 cc.

its super easy with zerk, just use Firce Strike (RMB) ( 1 hit in Beast Form ) or ( in human form ) hold RMB to do the final attack which procs the roar second ability to use is Tackling Rock ( W + F ) now just repeat with RMB, and after that W + F, that's it :p

This legit is aggravating me, I'm a Musa with an extensive float kit and able to back chase through targets and this still feels impossible.

The key to the float mechaniic is to learn his animations so that you can control where he headbutts and get behind him before his animation finishes.

Awa Musa here, although a bit late. I've just reached this boss and after quite some trials I found the sprint base attack with the crescent blade makes it easy and effective. You wait close to the boss, dash backwards behind him and do the sprint attack and instantly hold S to block the roar. Hope this helps you or other fellow Musa's o7

Good guide, finally understand really how this works seeing it visually... sadly it's still just easier to kill him first phase lol. They've really gotta rework this, maybe make it 3x procs and I'll bother.

Notice how in the video I dashed to where his back would be, before he did his headbutt. Once he starts the wound up animation for each headbutt, he is committed to facing that direction. You're meant to use that time to proactively get behind him. If you try to get behind him after his headbutt, then it's too late. What I suggest is to pay close attention to his animation of sheathing his axes. You need to be alert for the timings as soon as he does it. If you manage to correctly time the first headbutt, then the rest will follow.
