I love the new generation. But the new generation should be more like Olivia. 🙃 She finds it weird to discriminate against a type of person. And the fact that she finds this test silly is amazing. Some kids don’t think about these things. Olivia finds the uniqueness of the Barbies beautiful.
I’m an African American teenager and watching the doll test vs this video makes makes super happy! I love that Barbie is getting more and more diverse, and I love Olivia’s answers! I’m 100% showing this to my future kids. Thank you!
Olivia is sooooo wise. The fact that she's questioning your questions and calling out why it's wrong/unjust to label one doll as "bad" -- wow! Her smiles and positivity are contagious.
Olivia is such a credit to you both, her such amazing response to the questions is basically down to excellent parenting. No child is born bigoted, it is learnt.
Let me tell you something. I cried like a baby while watching this video! You ladies are going a wonderful job with these children. Words can't even begin to express how proud I am of you and Denise. God picked the 2 best people to raise children when he chose you and your wife. God bless you for a job well done.
I love how whenever you showed a feature to Olivia of the doll where someone may say that's weird, she replied by calling the differences beautiful and cool.
I’m not a mom, but I have a two year old brother. Not only does he have two dolls that he loves very much, but one of those dolls is white and the other is black. We talk about how beautiful both babies are, and we give them baths and feed them all the time. He’s always running around with them saying, “I’m the best Daddy!” I love that I get the opportunity to buy him these toys that he picks out to explain to him that diversity is very important, along with the fact that dolls are not just girl toys. Great message! Thanks for all of your beautiful content 💕
Im 49 years old and when I was little my favorite doll was a little black baby. My 10 year old loves all the different doll Barbie has come out with. She thinks the "Normal" Barbie is boring.
Even though they had Medium skin tones to (Rarely)darker skin tones when I was younger. My mother would buy me Caucasian dolls, and my other adopted sisters would get the darker tones because they have African blood mixed in. Funny thing is the Extremely deep toned dolls are some of my favorites, I think they are gorgeous. My sisters also preferred the Caucasian blonde dolls. I am also part Korean so not sure why I didn't receive an Asian doll. I think parents should be more open to the diversity, because kids flat up make up their own minds even when not given the choice.
One time I was in the car with my dad and for whatever reason barbie designs was brought up and I said "ya'know what'd be a good doll? A plus sized doll" and he said "that's a good idea"
She is the cutest! "When they're different it makes them unique and special." So smart and aware. When I was younger I used to play with Bratz and My Scene dolls mostly. I love that Barbie is brining more diverse dolls.
Olivia is amazing 🤩 I will be 62 next month & I can still remember when I got my 1st black doll. My godmother brought it back to me from a trip to New York. I think I was around 6 & I didn’t like the doll because I had never seen one before. The only dolls I had or had ever seen were white. I couldn’t understand why she brought that doll to me. I live in South Carolina & still do. I really don’t believe dolls of color were even available here back then 🤷🏽♀️ I have 4 granddaughters & thank God, they’ve had dolls of all colors 🤩
I’m Arab But Black Barbie Actually looks more Beautiful. If the Mainstream keeps Hiding Black Barbies They Will make them Exotic🤐... Just Saying White is America Beauty for whatever Reason. Exotic Beauty Comes from 3rd World Country Like home Egypt to African or Somali Ect... Sooooo Maintream is Doing Big Favor😂👍🏽
20 years ago so was so happy they brought out a Pocahontas and a Mulan Barbie 😍 I loved them and I wish they hab all those beautiful Barbies back then...
the way y’all have raised olivia is so beautiful. it’s truly amazing to see how she views this world and how empathetic she is and the love in her eyes is so pure. i really look up to y’all! great mommies, great olivia and great family! she’s so sophisticated and witty!
I remember as a kid I enjoyed all my black, white, Asian and Native American dolls and never saw any of them as being less than each other. I was horrified when I first saw “the doll test” video because no one should feel the way those kids did in regards to color. You and your wife are raising your kids right.
Hey there! I came across the channel yesterday, and since then you guys have been helping me alot. Im so happy for you guys, and i just wanted to say that im having a hard time coming out as pan or bi...idk which one because im still in the process of getting to know myself. So proud of Olivia even at 7 she gets it! Ebony and Denise you both have done a fantastic job raising such an aware child! We need more Olivia's in this world!
When I was younger I was always frustrated by the lack of diversity in dolls. Even as a white girl I could see that it wasn’t fair that people weren’t getting the representation they deserved. I’m so happy to see Barbie is actually stepping up their game and being more inclusive. Its brings me tears of joy to see. Because Representation really does matter, just as you said. Kids need to understand that differences don’t make people bad or weird. They need that understanding from a young age. I’m happy to see this because there is always so much bad in the world-its always good to see things improving...even by little bits. Its those small steps that matter in the whole of it.
you both have done a beautiful job raising Olivia! her answers were so well spoken, it’s hard to remember that she’s 7 and not a teenager! her open mindedness and love for every doll individually melted my heart❤️
My first Bratz doll was actually black.. And I picked her myself in the toy store.. She was the prettiest, in my opinion. But I vividly remember my mom kinda taking a back by it, and trying to influence me to pick another doll, even the toy store employee asked if I didn’t want another doll that looked more like me..
I hope people dont think ANY of then are ugly tbh i am White and i used to go to Black dolls i think they are as beautiful i have a black cousin I LOVE HER TO BITS
I remember show pictures of American Girl dolls to a 10 year old and she literally said that all of the black dolls that I have showed her were ugly and gross and all of the white dolls I showed her she said they were all pretty unlike the black ones Truly shocking and I told her why the white dolls are so much prettier and she said “what are you talking about race really doesn’t have to do with anything” Smh she’s lying she has been dissing and saying horrible hurtful things to my black doll for days and and saying many nice and good things to my white doll
Aww! OMG! I could not believe that a 7 years old girl that she can understand what are they all different! Blew my mind!!! Wow! She is so sweet to answers the questions. She got me goosebumps! Two thumbs up!!! Way to go!! Love this video!! Great job, Ebony! I am applause for you!
I’m a white female. I remember when I was four I picked out a black baby doll. My mom said, “don’t you want a doll that looks like you baby?” And I said “she has dark hair like me!” And sense then my mom has never said anything like that again. She started preaching diversity!
I don’t have kids yet, but these are parenting goals. Also I had NO IDEA there were so many diverse dolls now!! All colors, shapes and they even added different disabilities!! Wow!!! Color me impressed. I hope I have a little girl now so I can share all these wonderful dolls with her.
In the Piaget world she is in the preoperational/ concrete operational so she has an understand of what's good and bad. And she know how to explain her feeling. That's why she kept on saying that your questions made no sense because each doll had something different with them. And they all look nice do this with a child between the age of 4/5 and you will see the difference
I never played with Barbies, but these dolls are all very cool looking and of course it's always wonderful to see Olivia being the huge ray of sunshine that she is!
I am American Italian. I am 40 yrs old. I remember my mama asking me what babydoll I wanted. I choose a beautiful black baby which I still have! My mama never questioned me she just allowed me to love and appreciate all colors of skin. Now I have two boys both 17. One is my natural Italian/ German baby and my adopted son is African American/ Cherokee. To me they are both beautiful! I am so glad you are teaching your children to love and accept all people no matter who they are inside or out. I love watching your innocence Olivia!
Growing up I had such a range of different barbies from Mattel. I had the blue eyed blonde haired Barbie, her different friends, ken, and random other barbie dolls that had red hair, brown hair, tan skin, light skin, dark skin, etc. Yes, I mostly had white dolls because that's literally what was available, but I personally enjoyed having a range of different looks (including around 4-5 black barbies). I don't know why any kid would want all their barbies to be blue eyed and blonde haired, where's the variety?? I never wanted that as a kid. I'm really glad dolls like this exist nowadays. I want to buy them all.
I can tell you as a kid who was raised after the doll test was initially shown the number of diverse dolls has skyrocketed. I can also say as I child from a culturally diverse family I was always so jealous of my melanin gifted sisters got gorgeous brown skinned dolls. It’s so great to see Barbie really stepping up the doll game!
Good for you Olivia. Show the adults how to look at people. Now that Olivia is fine in this world the rest of us need to stop buying into hating people based on what they look like too.
Not a bot squadron still rolling through! Not a bot squadron leader reporting in. Olivia really is a wonder! She has such an open out of the box way of thinking and seeing the world that people of walks of life need. She's an inspiration and you and Denise do a fantastic job raising your family. Keep doing what you do and don't stop
