That's a misinterpretation of Matthew. Jesus was about to be taken prisoner by the Romans, and Simon drew his sword and lopped the ear off a Roman centurion. After performing another miracle of reattaching the soldier's ear, Jesus admonished Simon and said (more or less), "those who pick up the sword to fight for me will die by the sword". It was only meant in the context of that moment, and a demonstration that he did not want violence to be connected to his ministry in his name, even if it resulted in his capture and death. Which he knew to be inevitable. It was not intended to be a warning for anyone else to never touch weapons again for the rest of time.
There’s a very good lesson to be learnt here, if you’re ever given a nickname and you don’t like it don’t let on that it annoys you. They may stop calling you by it, could be they give you one that you like. I reckon he got a new one on his first day in prison after he was convicted, i don’t think he liked Baldy either and complained about it!
