I love how the cameraman keeps filming and the poor dude tries too mantain the smile.

I love how everyone on Steam is complaining that this costs money. Oh no! These developers spent almost a decade on a huge project and suddenly want to be compensated for their work! How dare they!

I was half expecting them to interview Gordon and have him just stare silently while the camera man awkwardly tries to get him to explain their anomalous materials labs.

They keep the camera on that marine that tiny bit too long to make him uncomfortable.. It's the little details.

I wonder if Freeman looked at this tape and thought to himself, "Yeah, fuck it, I'll work there.".

I don't think i'll ever be able to hear the "its not shutting down" scene audio without freaking out a little bit.

I love this trailer. I don't know why, but it gives me the feeling of... Nostalgia, horror and everything at the same time. Even at the final part: "Shut it down!" While G-Man appears and those scientists screaming for that and demostrating the Cascade being destroyed... Is amazing how the creator of this trailer managed to get us in that world...

Those last 15 seconds of the trailer with the overlap and shuttering VHS effects of everything going wrong and G-Man was actually a bit scary... Classic ‘found footage’ type done impressively well and adds that authentic horror experience

It took me until just this second to realize the voice of the marine is Michael Tsarouhas, the creator and lead developer of the Insurgency series. That's fucking badass.

Was this played out to VHS and then recaptured after damaging the tape? It has a similar feel to the Alien isolation trailers which used the same trick in parts. Really lovely work. If the effect is done in AE or Premiere I'd be very impressed (and be immediately asking for the effects plugins).

How'd i not see this 7 years ago

I keep replaying the end (1:12 to the end) because I get this really weird, and surprisingly excited feeling from that.

People, this is our chance to show Valve, Bethesda, and everyone else, how paid mods are supposed to work. This is how Counterstrike and Day of Defeat and Red Orchestra and so many other epic games went retail, remember? This isn't the Skyrim Workshop fiasco, this is an excellent mod that spent an incredible amount of time in development and was released for free (AND STILL IS FREE FOR THE INITIAL RELEASE, GO DOWNLOAD IT IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME), and the developers have managed to craft a complete overhaul that turns it into a full fledged retail product with all that implies. If it is broken for any reason, they now do have certain obligations to address those issues with support staff and such as an official Steam release, instead of the vague 24-hour refund periods and Valve telling you to "politely ask the devs" to fix any gamebreaking crashes. They had to get approval through Greenlight, which they did, overwhelmingly so. They are sharing many assets with the mod community. This is not the same as WorkshopGate, please, gamers, lets make this work. Lets restore the status quo. Make this mod a success. Show the companies and modders what we want. A way to truly support the modders who churn out the truly epic cash-worthy projects. This isn't $5 for a reskinned glass sword, third party horse armor, this is BLACK MESA SOURCE. We've known about this mod going retail for some time now. This is not a shot out of the blue. *THIS. IS. OUR. CHANCE.* Make it work. Now more then ever, it's vital we do.

You know. Developers spent a lot of money to make HD audio and sounds for this game. They also needed good stuff to record those sounds at first. Also they had to paid for actors which was voicing characters in game. And you are crying that this game costs 20$...

There’s something even to this day so creepy about everything going terribly wrong and it cuts off and all u hear is static.

I'm very interested in the specific techniques used in this video, particularly the music. Taking a track that sounds so obviously classically cheesy, like those videos you always watched about science in elementary school, and then subtly distorting it into something so sinister is amazing. Lots of work clearly has gone into this mod... I hope they improve their animations a bit :) And of course there's something hilarious about the awkwardness of the military scene.

I like how they got the original HL2 doctor kleiner and the insurgency marsoc soldier (both games that run off the source engine) to voice the characters, that is actually a really nice addition to this trailer.
