this video is a really good illustration of the difference between a million and a billion - even when you're averaging roughly 5-10 million notes per second (and that includes the brief spike of 100 million at 3:41), it still takes five whole minutes to reach a billion (ok the math probably doesn't line up because it's not a constant rate, but you get the idea)
