Hi Brian, great to see you back. I purchased a set of those filters after watching the video you did on them . I find them really good and definitely value for money, I was disappointed I had to buy the lens cap as a separate purchased though. Great video, hope you're doing well.
Hi Brian good to see you back on RU-vid, this was an interesting topic but I must admit I have never heard of Black Mist filters. Been reading about the filter which says it produces a delicate effect that in the process reduces contrast and sharpness across a scene while adding a subtle glow to the highlights. I must admit with your images captured I did not notice a lot of difference so I might not rush out and get one.
Blackmist works best when you have strong light sources that will give that dreamy halo efffect. I have been shooting a lot of landscape and nature photos with 1/8 Nisi Blackmist, and really have been loving the slight effect it gives. Should order one 1/4 Black mist too for a stronger dreamy look :D I would say that polarising filter actually kills some of the effect, as you need the highlights for the halo.
Hi, Thank you, yes I did think my polariser might be part of the problem! Old habits eh? Im sure with different lighting i will get a better result. Thanks for the input.
If I may be so bold as to offer unsolicited advice; if you’re going to use a camera strap AND a tripod, I suggest using a strap with fastex buckles so it can be easily removed when the camera is on the tripod. Imagine snagging the strap accidentally and knocking the tripod over onto a bunch of rocks.
