Our dog Bosco a pug loved camping so much that he hide in our tent trailer while my husband was packing to go camping. My husband and a friend went up to the mountains I was frantically running around looking for the dog. When they got up to their camp spot and opened the trailer, Bosco gave them quite a scare.
We love Black Mountain! We visited almost two years ago and really enjoyed the Mexican restaurant. The general store was pretty cool and I had a Cuban coffee in town. We stayed at the same campground. Although we are mostly RV’ers, we brought the tent on that trip. We didn’t yet have our van, but we met a Travato owner during our stay. Another great place and shopping to add to our visiting list. Ya'll are so blessed to live in the area that you do. God's country for sure. There is so much to see and do. Simple things. We are really enjoying these road trips! It's like were on the road with you and we love to take drives so this is great! I love the stores, the towns, the food, the mountains, the streams, the views and that cute Pug Big T! Lake is beautiful too! God's creation is so beautiful and marveling at nature is a good way to remind ourselves of this. My husband Jim and I appreciate your videos so much!

Hopefully we will plan a day trip to Black Mountain later this year..it’s not far at all. Hubby works two jobs, so our time off together does stagger. Our next trip is Garden City SC, coming up end of April..so counting down the days. Unfortunately, our dog Dixie wont be able to join us this time. Big T is so sweet, and he really enjoys traveling. What a beautiful camp ground, My parent's always took us camping as children and we loved it, So when I had my 2 daughters we took them and they love it, Now they are 25 and 30 years old and they still love it.Thank you for the wonderful videos and God bless .
Took my daughter and grandkids there last year. We all just loved it so much. We do the cabins at Koa. Our next trip is to the coast of NC. I can hardly wait. Such good memories. The Lord continue to bless you three.
Beautiful area, and love the video. You are right, the Smokies are great, but there are other mountain areas to enjoy. My son and daughter in law live in Piney Flats , TN and we visit them and see beautiful mountain areas all around. We have been to The Cove many years ago. Beautiful place!

Hello Mike & Karen, Everytime we here or see Black mountain, it reminds us of several years ago. We were on our way for the fourth of July for a family vacation to Cherokee. We had my elderly mom and our young son and one other family member all packed into our mini van. You could imagine, we were like sardines with our luggage & etc. Well, it was Saturday around lunch time and we had set out from our home town to cherokee, which is about a two and a half hour drive for us. Well, wouldn't you know it, our old van started messing up. I was driving and my husband said we better pull over, so I exited on exit 66 at Black mountain. Here we were on the side of the exit, without a clue as what to do, and to add to our dilema, a horrible thunder storm hit just as we were pulling over. Some of the craziest lightning and thunder, had us all scared. Fortunately a Black mountain police officer came to our rescue and escourted us to the Ford place there in Black mountain. Sadly, they couldn't help us because our transmission was going out and it being the weekend, they couldn't even look at it until the first of the week. So, we took our chances, turned around and headed home at about 45 miles per hour, but thank the lord we made it. We were all disappointed because we thought we weren't going to be able to go on our vacation. I called our motel and told them what had happened and they said they would hold our room to give us time to see if we could make it. We only had one other vehicle and it was a small nissan. Would you believe we all five packed into that four passenger vehicle and made it back to Cherokee by midnight, luggage and all. That was a vacation time we will never forget. We laugh about it now.

If you traveled west down Highway 70 from downtown Black Mountain to the KOA, you passed a great little place for coffee. It's called Dynamite Roasting Company. They roast their own coffee. We used to live in the southern part of Nebo, NC, just east of Black Mountain. We visited Dynamite a lot. Best coffee in the region as far as we were concerned.
When I saw it said Black Mountain, I thought you were at Black Mountain in Crab Orchard. I was so excited. I thought you were out near me again. I still would love to see yall

We also love that part of NC specifically areas off the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have seen the Black Mountain sign and have never had time to visit...going to check out this quaint little town. That campground was lovely. Hopefully it will warm up. Hope Big T is feeling better too.
What a Beautiful place to camp Mike and Karen I think my wife and I need to check into a van like yours to enjoy the areas when we go to East Tennessee. Can you 2 say a prayer for my sister she has been battling cancer for the past 2 yrs and been in remission and know it has come back worse than the first, I just lost my 39yr old niece last July to breast cancer it's going to be rough if something happens to my sis. We love Black Mountain. We tried the Mexican restaurant last time there and yes, it was so good and so much food. Try 4 Sisters Bakery. Excellent pastries. Thanks for sharing your trip.

I enjoy hearing about the campgrounds that you have stayed in but sometimes they can be a little pricey. Do you ever boondock or use things like Harvest Host? I would think that they would be plentiful in your area.
