I finally thought I was going to beat this guy then he pulls out a stupid tornado that throws you in the air, I then land on the ground just for him to punt me with his foot and stab me into the ground, this is the stupidest fight ever
If you time your Wind Tamer vessel right you can mostly (or completely) skip the tornadoes. The punt is his "grab" attack, it's really annoying/hard to avoid. The tell needs to be more obvious.
I actually enjoyed getting my ass handed to me. The animations for the boss fight are truly something to behold. Don’t get discouraged. Take a break and come back to it. You can also try changing up your build.
I died to him like 10 times always used to panick when he started using the one but once I got the wind tamer vessel I beat him 1st time tho I was also one shot but yeah he was an annoying boss nonetheless
I found the best counter to that was trying your best to fight him in the middle in phase 2 (really hard) then using the Wind Tamer Vessel later in the fight to dispel all the storm effects and give yourself a window to fight him.
I beat this boss today at 5:50 am without the wind vessel (idk where that is unfortunately) This boss is more cheap than hard. The amount of times I've suffered getting cheated by low visibility from the sand was a horrid amount. Having to endure that cheap 3 swipe attack where if you don't perfectly dodge the first attack you get hit from the second, and those ground spawning tridents were enough to drive any man mad. This fight was atrocious to be honest.
Theres a more powerful staff that you can get in chapter two if Attack stats is what you're looking for. There's a "secret" boss (black loon) that you can defeat that gives you the materials to craft a 70pts attack staff that enhances pillar stance. It costs 21k will but you can do some XP farming at the Rockrest shrine with the three enemies around the shrine to get the money if you don't have it. The black loon boss is fairly easy once you realize you can just dodge his electricity waves. I'm not sure if there any prerequisites to fight him but I was able to just enter the location without really looking for anything. The boss is located at the Rockrest shrine. turn to the right and head up the stairs. Beat the spirit and enter the new location through the sand waterfall. There he is.
I just got him .. oh man it was so difficult. was stuck here for a day with more than 20 tries.. i dont know if i will be able to complete this game if things get even difficult from here. :(
They get more difficult, but you get more tools so not every fight after is as hard at least from my experience. There are a few tough ones in Chapter 3, which I plan to make boss guides on, which I hope helps!
You have to pressure pressure pressure him. Stay between his legs and roll through or around him. Staying back is a death sentence. As soon as I figured this out it was a game changer.
I disagree a bit pressure him too much won't let you dodge in time. I got hit by way too many attacks I seen and didn't dodge when I thought I did I dodged a few and got hit by attacks that were obviously coming and pressed dodge but just didn't.
Pressuring him is good, especially if it means staying closer so he doesn't use his long distance attacks but I agree that you need to have a bit of patience and not just spam attacks so you can properly dodge combos as well.
Bro you sir are a lifesaver. I legit raged real hard at this and tiger king. Real mad. Read this comment , said screw it I'll try, and beat it next try. With a lot of mistakes too. Pressure sure worked for me. Thank you man. Relief at last. @theundergrad5994
man, I feel like thrust stance was such a blessing for the ending of chapter 2, and just chapter 2 in general. Using it against the tiger vanguard made the whole fight so much easier (if you could actually hit the mtf) and upgrading the skill tree to have 3-4 charges makes everything so much easier.
Thrust Stance is amazing IMO, though recently I've been using Pillar and quite liking it as well. Smash is something I used early on (Ch1) but it really didn't mesh a ton with me.
Thanks for the tip about the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff! Beat him first try after going back and getting that. The bonus damage the staff brings to Smash Stance is big so if you get the staff...stay in Smash Stance to get that bonus damage.
TBH I find both Smash and Pillar stance to be very weak in comparison to Thrust stance, so even when using a weapon with bonuses for them I tend to stick to thrust. You're very prone to interruption during a 3 focus/4 focus heavy on smash stance and pillar requires a lot of waiting / makes it hard to do sustained damage.
I legit got the dude one hit, no wind tamer vessel and no special shit bro i was just locked in and i used my fuckin LT + RT AND HE SOMEHOW CANCELLED IT BRO
I started this guy week 1 didn't actually beat him til yesterday took a week off of gaming because he was working me like a part time job... then I completed the wind tamer quest and well...
This guy took me longer than any souls or sekiro boss I’ve ever faced. This game uses cheap attacks to increase difficulty way more than most games with good boss design. Took me 2 long annoying hours to get the timing perfect and beat him. This game is 50% really fun and 50% really boring practice
You can actually get a full level 3 focus slam attack at the start. Just charge it up while you’re running towards him and release once you get close enough. Once he is stunned, you can send out your monkeys to attack him and then immobilize him so you can hit him to build more focus.
That's only true if you're playing Smash Stance, it doesn't work for Thrust or Pillar. But also, he's most dangerous below 33% health, so you absolutely do not want to waste A Pluck of Many and immobilize at the start of the fight.
If you use the wind tamer right away and can last long enough into the end of the battle, you can use it a second time. The trouble is enduring the middle section into the last part. I got two hits away on my first try.
@Tenkiei I agree, I didn't initially realize there were stages to his attacks (the last part being worse), so it's definitely better to just save until the end and then use it. It's just a helpful way if you wanna deal out a fair amount of damage in the beginning, ride out the middle/near end if you can. I'm going to try to wait until the end next time.
I have now beaten him twice and on my first play through i had no idea about the sand vessel and so it took me about 20 tries, however on my second play through it took me 2
The good news about a game like this, unless you use a cheese strategy that glitches the fight, even if you use a guide you still need to earn the win.
i beat this goof after getting mauled for an hr, its gets easier once you learn his pattern, its that stupid move when he stabs you into the ground and throws into next week that kept killing me because i couldn't react quickly
Finally killed him!!!! Wack him with your staff only until about half hp and then use pluck of many along with the eye spirit to boost your magic attacks. Keep imbolizing him while the moneys attack and use wind chime too while pluck of many is activate. Then finish him with the fire wolf guy (makes sure to use light attack and then his special attack once it’s built up)
Well I'm not sure if you still need it or not, but I do have a video on the tiger as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Tkp7bietm_Q.html To change spells go to a Shrine, select "Self Advance" and "Set Spells." To change your transformation you need to get a second one first, for me this was the Azure Dust from the Man-In-Stone quest (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RyvRUi4eU5E.html). Red Tides is also very good on this fight, if you can land the charged heavies, I just kept missing them so I ended up swapping it up and that worked!
I am still stuck at yellow wind sage now, this boss ,tiger and whiteclad noble gave me the most trouble,i hate hard games, the person who said its like god of war should be criminally charged 😭
It feels quite a bit like Nier Automata to me, there's a lot of easy spectacle heavy bosses, but mixed in are some truly challenging fights. Using the Wind Tamer was what got me through the Yellow Wind Sage, now I'm stuck on Yellow Loong, I think all the bosses with "Yellow" in the name might be op.
This is a hard boss. The second I get to his second phase he just brings out BS mechanics and constantly slams on me until I’m out of stamina and I can’t do anything about it
Before fighting this guy, I had beaten all 16 previous bosses and got all possible pills and spells available. I beat this fight in two tries. Strangely enough, I actually felt disappointed that it wasn’t anymore challenging.
Going into him for the first few attempts I felt the same, he is a really brutal fight. I spent a good hour just dying over and over barely getting him to 70% hp. Remember to use all the tools you have available, spirits, transformation spells, pluck of many (for damage), immobilize (this can cancel one of his combos), stone form or cloud strike (to avoid attacks), a vessel, maybe even some consumables (though I haven't found medicines super helpful personally).
God the invisible wall hiding was so annoying! Trying to fight him near the center of the room helps a bit, but he's so mobile that sometimes he decides to nope out again for no reason.
I recommend not using pluck of many as it uses half of your mana. What I did to beat him relatively easy is use the damage reduction medicine, crit strike medicine, and attack medicine. As for strategy, I used thrust and lots of of points in the stamina tree for better perfect dodges. Start the fight with your fire transformation and build your might as quickly as possible with light attacks and finish with the flip into ground slam attack. If you do this right you can get the heavy flip attack off twice in the transformations duration. The reason you do the transformation right off the bat is that you can use it twice in one fight. Wait until he’s at about a quarter health before using the transformation again. Avoid pluck of many like the plague.
After beating him, the true story unveiled as LingJi the real villain, the giant Beatles is his mount, he turned entire country into rat as a punishment of not believing in Buddhism, he sent the Fuban, he’s the maelstrom of all the problem in chapter 2. Great game as it takes on the mantle of the JTTW as a satire to Buddhism(powers in gernal)
Unpopular opinion: Everyone who is here to watch this video, including me obviously, has FAILED the game. If you need someone to handhold you how to beat a boss which is as early as chapter 2, forget it. You can't beat the game on your own. Having said that, this is exactly what I am going to do for the next bosses, IF I decide to finish the game, which is under consideration. It's all about "LEARNING" the moves of the bosses which gets old at some point. So you get better at a particular boss and then learn it up to the second phase and it does something totally different like disappearing from your view, and the next frame finds you squashed by his fist or whatever. And then you have to learn that second phase. But you have to play again the whole thing including the first phase which you have "learnt". It gets OLD., When you finally beat the boss you have the illusion "Oh I am so good". Well first things first, if you watched a video on YT to help you, you are not allowed to brag. Secondly, even if you did it all on your own, it's probably because you spent HOURS programming the moves of the boss in your brain, so now it's part of your brain software together with other topics like "How to drive" "How to hold a spoon" etc. Congrats! Because I love the setting and the Chinese culture, and the locations are gorgeous, I want to finish the game and I swear it's the last "learn the moves of the bosses " game that I will ever play. I 'll just watch videos of the bosses BEFORE even I make my first attempt- I am not even kidding. Because there's no way to beat a main boss unless you KNOW what is going to throw at you.
About to go in raw, level 29 no wind tamer 🫡 Edit: got the W after 2 hours. The key to winning this fight without wind tamer is to never stop attacking when after he puts up the tornadoes. I had this mf down to last few hits multiple times only to get yeeted by the tornado. Position correctly and dodge along with the martial arts ability that lets you continue light attack chain even if you dodge. Fun fight/challenge.
