@@JahIthBer No such thing. There are many great ones like Final Fantasy 7 and 10. Many games in franchises like Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Xenosaga, Grandia etc.
Good clickbait, but bad longterm strategy to just spew nonsense. Apparently now Souls like is just the throwaway term for anything with similar combat to a Souls game, does this now make God of War a Souls like? Because Wukong, if anything, is closer to GoW. Your reasoning of "doing what you have to do" for Elden Ring is immediately flawed, don't play it then, play Sekiro instead. Elden Ring is meant for exploration, if you butt your head against it and argue you just want to do the necessary things, then whine about the open world, you're creating your own problems.

@@SolonGaming Great job saying nothing in the most words possible. Sad grift and now you've proven you just throw words at the wall and hope they stick. Enjoy seething 👋
I talked about black myth Wukong and Ranton just as promised in the title. Unless you were expecting me to host some kind of show gathering the most popular clowns from every famous circus and picking a winner.
Appreciate your honest take. Practice what you preach; don't let others get the better opinion of you. However, some your takes are biased. Yes, I agree Ranton has these weird and coflicting statements with other games but he will always try to nitpick on the games he played.
My takes are not biased. I have made myself more than clear in my '' Dark Souls Games Are Not Good or Hard '' video and i don't need to repeat myself every time. Ranton's takes should be on point, if he wasn't contradicting himself. His scoring system is also completely pointless.
"Most people are playing the game for gameplay, not level design" ERRRRRRRRRRR definitely wrong there. Level design is incredibly important to us in our Souls games. Level design also adds to the gameplay, immersion, aesthetic, etc. All of these things are very important in a Souls game.
The delusion is strong with this one. If you want the best souls like analysis watch my [Dark Souls, Elden Ring And Other Bad ''Hard'' Games] playlist. Then again considering your comprehension issues, it will probably fly over your head.
Holy shit i went from like then dislike then like and so on just to end with alike at the end, i must say Ranton takes are all good he doesnt rly contradicts himself that much and ratings are maybe too high ofc, and i must say i agree with you on most of these i am not trying to be a idiotic fan who will defend the game jsut bcs others said its good, i played Elden ring but not Black Myth Wukong. The core gameplay of Elden ring is not bad the combat is light and heavy attack, special move of an weapon aka weapon art, incantations and spells, the idea behind this is that you have a huge amount of weapons to choose from but you cant rly have an in depth combat system with such a roaster so they have done a pretty good job with it, killing enemies feels satisfying and using spells feels powerfull as it should be, now about bosses... they r well fine lets put it like that, def cool and they look amazing and powerful but a lot of late game bosses idk you just dont rly know how to fight them their moves r too flashy you dont know what kills you like is it just an effect or actual attack and how r you supposed to dodge it couse only stuff you can do is dodge but in what direction couse soem attacks need to be dodged differently, so deffinetly not an S tier combat like everyone says. i would go on a rant to explain every point but its already too much of an YAP to give my whole opnion but there i just wanted to state the biggest thing we kinda dont agree on instead of just calling you names brainlessly like everyone else in the comments.
bro I agree Elden ring is good but I also agree its not the best But why you gotta be hating this hard, though Black Myth easily is better than Elden ring by AAAAAA LOOOT
Like for an entertaining video. But without your other videos it is hard to understand what you are talking about. Also the title is too difficult and a bit misleading since half of it about Elden Ring. I would name it "Ranton's clownish take on Elden Ring and Black Myth Wukong" or something like that. When will you release your highly anticipated by me video with more deep explanation of your souls genre critique?
It's not really hard since Ranton did the explanation for me. I was planning to review Black Myth Wukong and do a separate video on Ranton, but since he did a good job reviewing it himslef, i decided to kill two birds with one stone. That's why i let him talk so much in this video and that's why the title is what you see. I am almost done with the good videos you guys are waiting, but i decided to take a break making some of these since they are easy to make and still prove many points.
@@SolonGaming I am not sure that Ranton explained it good enough. But as I said such videos are ok too. In the new video I would appreciate more specific examples with corresponding video fragments. But I do understand that it is more difficult to make. Thanks for replying anyway! )
"Good gameplay is harder to make than good leveldesign" Lol. The dumbest thing i've heard in my life. Ironicaly, sure, i've hear similarly dumb things before, but it's hard to make a MORE dumb statment. Level design IS a gameplay. Even if you design flat arena for a fight, it's still your desision to make the arena flat coz you think it will be appropriate to this particular fight, and it's level design. And part of Souls Games is fighting THROUGH the level and achive boss in the end. How df level design in this case can be separated from the gameplay? 🤣
The level design is just ground where you fight enemies and adds nothing to the gameplay. The gameplay has already zero depth. There are games where the level design is tied to the gameplay, like Celeste, where you constantly use the levels themselves for tons of reasons and they have their own mechanics adding to the core basic gameplay. Imagine being this ignorant, jesus christ.
@@SolonGaming so, you already admit there are games in wich levels desing integral part of gameplay loop. That perfect! We making progress here! And it's a solid first step in the right direction. Now you are ready to make second step and admit how incorrect you are about souls games not being included in this category. Maybe you need to play them, refresh the gameplay loop in your memory or something like that. I belive you will make progress eventually. And remember how important level layount, traps, hights and lows in most of them, especially in early ones. I recomend you to rund DS1 and go to Sen's Fortress as soon as possible, it will help you to rethink your incorrect position faster.
@@DraftyMood Maybe instead of making insanely wrong statements over and over again, you should watch my [Dark Souls, Elden Ring And Other Bad ''Hard'' Games] playlist. None of the stuff you mentioned add any depth to the souls games at any point, but that would require you to have the tiniest bit of clue about gameplay instead of playing dodge roll simulators for life.
@@SolonGaming Crazy you still pretend to believe or maybe do believe the nonsense you say even after I proves every point you made incorrect. I honestly am not sure if you believe what you say or if you are just trolling, or if you did believe but now are too stubborn to admit you were wrong.
@@SolonGaming One thing I've noticed about fandoms, is that people get so emotionally attached to other people's opinions. Say for instance, [x] is bad. Their minds reason because "[x] is bad," that must mean that whatever they think about [x] is also bad. *They see it as an attack on themselves.*
@@Believing6432 Yeap, they have to keep repeating the same nonsense to make sure they convince themselves and stroke and support each other all the time just to cope. It's very sad indeed.
i honestly don't mind black myth wukong, probably i just don't really know how to actually enjoy video games but in general i enjoy every single game i play, at least i try! Nice observations tho
@@SolonGaming thanks, i hope that too lol.. recently played trough dark souls 2 and i don't really understand why people say it's the worst out of the 3 dark souls games, i enjoyed it quite a lot!
It's a cross generation so the graphics might depend. A strong PC with max setting make it look pretty. Unless my graphics standards are too low, since i enjoy pixel games just as much. By the level design being mid, do you compare it to DS1 or do you know games with great level design?
@@SolonGaming yeah just compare the graphics to assassins creed odyssey released a whole 4 years prior , its literally night and day difference i have a good pc played both on high settings nd elden ring graphics made me wanna vomit, nd compare the level design to hogwarts legacy lol its also night and day difference, if u dont agree its fine
@@BouslimiAmine-x4k I don't disagree about the difference between the games you mentioned, it's just that i still find it pretty. Again it could just be my low standards in graphics. If you concentrate to a single thing, then yes, it looks uglier, because you can see the details, but if you step back and look at the whole picture, it looks nice.
It's a fundamental part of gameplay, because it dictates how you interact with the world. In dark souls 1, with its interconnected level design, encourages exploration and rewards players with shortcuts, hidden paths, and unlocking new connections. It creates a unique sense of progression, as it makes the player not just learn the combat, but also learn to navigate the world adding depth to it. Also, the master key, allows you to take alternative routes utilizing the level design and giving the player a sense of freedom in how they traverse its world.
@@bitfrogxd8910 Walking on the ground to places is not interacting with the level design. It needs to have mechanics that add to the game's combat or puzzles. There is no depth to the game's combat AT ALL.
@@SolonGaming First of all, it’s not as simple as “walking on the ground to places”. Secondly, the combat has depth. It’s more than just the surface level parts like dodging and attacking. The games offer you dussins of play styles with different weapons, spells, and consumables. As well as the enemies weaknesses and resistances to different status effects or damage types. Poise, ashes of war/weapon arts, stats, summons, talismans/rings just to name a few more things. There are practically an endless amount of build combinations that offer unique strategies for encounters with different enemies and bosses. As a souls fan I obviously admit that there are flaws with the games (as with any game). For example, ds2 is widely critiqued by souls fans arguably more than souls haters themselves. But the game introduced new ideas and mechanics that were crucial for the evolution of the souls genre. While I normally respect peoples opinions that do not align with mine, I can’t really say the same for you. Because instead of using arguments with people in the comments you just try to gaslight them in to thinking their opinion is invalid by basically just saying “nuh uh” or “cope”
Either this is really well done sarcasm/bait or your braindead. Terrible gameplay ( also wrong). . Then gameplay loop being bad is opinion based and your entitled to your opinion regarding that but In my opinion and in most peoples it is amazing, a game with so many different awesome spells and cool different staffs to pick from you have a lot of creativity with the choices you make. the game revolves around I frame dodging to avoid opponents attacks which is really popular and the game fluidity in the combat is top notch. The level design is amazing and the core game design is great. Maybe a complaint about ER with how every dodge is the same and that can get bland is understandable but luckily each dodge has a different animation at least for your first 3 making it feel EVEN more fluid. The systems with mana, focus, and the other one to use vessels and light transformations. The armor design is amazing and overall the game is almost perfect. The story of Wukong is based off of the book A journey to the west and if you don't enjoy it that's fine the story isn't the main selling point of the game but too be honest I think its pretty good. Regarding the comment about the lore of the game all lore is useless and doesn't affect the story, the definition of lore is "the background information that helps to enrich the story, characters, and setting of a game". As you can see by definition it isn't really useful just makes you care/ know more about the characters or setting of the game, and it does just that. The journal in wukong gives immense detail about the characters you come across, enemies, and bosses that are really entertaining to read and make you care or know more about the bosses doing exactly what "lore" is supposed to do. Overall if you don't like the games that okay but its a 9/10 if your being harsh and so far without a doubt GOTY.
@@SolonGaming and actually one more thing I saw you posted about ds enjoyer vs devilmay cry enjoyer. 1: 2 games can be good. 2 : Souls games arent all that slow if you are good at them you can make the combat feel extremely quick obviously not as quick as remake or devilmaycry but not everything needs to be constant spam where you opponents cant get a single attack out. If you are too brainrotted to play a game like wukong which is very quick combat then you need to take a stepback and play some chess or just no games at all cuz that is a problem with you attention span.
@@Bigbob508 Did you just say that Chess is for brainrotted people with a problematic attention span? You have to be some kind of abomination made in a lab. There is no hope for you.

not ranton making a better video with concise points, solon "developers don't care about level design... if you want to play and fight enemies and bosses the game is just not good" sounds like you had a hard time on the game... git gud shit video too
That Ranton video is one of the most insane Soulshillings I've ever seen. He literally says he hates the story, quests, most of the dungeons, the combat, and the system for retrying bosses when he says it takes him days to beat a single boss. So he literally says he doesn't like any part of the game other than the graphics, but he still calls it a masterpiece. Just wow. He barely talks about the RPG systems and character building so I guess he likes that too, but that's not much.
He is afraid of giving bad scores cause he got his audience turned against him in other games before and even deleted entire reviews of his. Mind you that with all the editing he puts in, it was probably a month's work. So he is trying to do the thing where he mentions his problems by trying to not offend anyone and pretend they are just minor issues, but everyone with a brain can see through him. Most content creators are afraid to refresh their audience. They feel like they got lucky with what they got and try to adapt their entire personality to keep them. They don't feel any confidence in their skills or expressing their real selves. It's sad.
Sad. RU-vid didn't like my copypasta, so uh... I'll have you know that Elden Ring is the greatest masterpiece of all time! It only took me 100 hours to find the exit to the tutorial, and 900 more to find the secrete Eldest Ringest questline and boss DLC!

@@dongodongo12 If you can only create gameplay that relies on repeating the same thing over and over again, you have negative talent as a gameplay designer and if you praise that kind of gameplay then you are lesser than human.

Well, yeah. That's actually a thing. I deleted some rumblings during my commentary, so at times it sounds like i stop for no reason. Ranton's commentary feels like it's sped up by default with the way he edits and speaks, so the difference in speed feels weird.
