Mike and Reed discuss ultimate black panther #4 and discuss the overall status of T'challa in the marvel universe and whether marvel seems to be benching the character across the board
Great discussion, I couldn’t agree more. While I wanted a recast I understand why Marvel didn’t go that route. As for the comics Its odd that they are trying to dismantle and denigrate the character, I know the most recent BP run was cut short but I was reading Jed MacKays Avengers and BP in there is an outcast like WTF? Ultimate BP is the way the character should be treated and written and until there’s big changes made in the regular continuity I’ll only be reading Ultimate BP.
King T'challa was created decades ago, to be influential to young black males, who read comic, a character who was wise, cunning, powerful, Regal, honorable, a King. the character was to inspire folks globally, to give hope and pride, but T'challa's character today, is being buck broken slowly & consistently without remorse, the current owners of the i.p. have a mentality of the Masters tools, wont be used to dismantle the Master's house, the current owners won't stop until t'challa's character is destroyed, effeminate, weak and laughable, so no one takes him seriously as a man or superhero. A man, with no loving wive no children, once an intellectual pair of Reed Richards, to a dumbass, who depends on his mommy, sister and underlings to get the job done. no kingdom, no close loyal friends, the king of nothing, the black void panther. in ironman 2, Justin Hammer tells Ivan Vanko, you don't kill the guy, you kill his Legacy. the disney/ marvel overlords have the murder on their mind, but some RELENTLESS, fans of original character of King T'challa, are starting to fight back. like youtubers, Ias-Ijs with Theo B., b real with d real, chillmonger, to #RecastTChalla
Thanks for watching and commenting! Really appreciate you sharing your perspective and bringing up how much T'challa has meant to so many people over the years. It is absolutely ridiculous how much he has been downplayed in recent years and it has to stop. Great to know there are a lot of folks out there pushing back and doing what they can to ensure that T'challa remains seen as the awesome character that he is

Thanks for watching and commenting! Absolutely agree that the current direction makes no sense, T'challa being an outcast from the kingdom he should be in charge of is insane. There have been so many decisions made over the last few years and all of them have been aimed at making T'challa worse as a character, Saddest thing is we aren't even getting some sort of grand arc like other characters have received where their suffering and losing things is actually a story beat to show the greatness of the character through a comback. When you look at a story like Knightfall for batman, he was torn down in the beginning of the story and defeated and replaced but the arc was about building him back up and showing why Bruce was truly the only batman. However for T'challa, he is being torn down similarly but there is no actual storyline to build him back up and show why he is the King and protector of wakanda. It's just sad to see. Hopefully Ultimate black panther stays far away from the story beats of the 616 universe
