The rum may be gone, and the egg really bad; but drink up me hearties, yo ho.

That's got to be the best pirate I've ever seen.

At 32 guns, the Pearl is exceedingly heavily-armed for a pirate vessel - the equivalent of a Royal Navy Frigate, and not far off the 40 cannons of the Queen Anne's Revenge.

One thing I want to mention about the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is that despite what some might say, all of the movies follow a consistent moral and theme. Jack is a Pirate, and a good person. In every one of the movies, he has a chance to gain incredible power through some type of magical object, the Cursed Azetc coin, Davy Jones Heart, the Fountain of Life, the Trident of Posideon. In every single Pirates movie, he turns these objects down to save someone else he cares about. Thats the moral of these movies, and its been consistently present in every film.

The Black Pearl. A ship so infamous and with so much character, sunk several times raised by unknown means, literally traveled between the realm of the dead and the living. Cursed or blessed several times, and is literally cannot be caught be conventional means by other sailing vessels. She is literally a goddess in her own right. Or damn well a close second..

Ah, such a well designed ship. Distinctive silhouette, evocative detailing and versatile usage, all coming together to make one of fiction's most iconic vessels.

Well now THIS I never expected. You guys are really branching out.

I like how you describe Barbossa's brief moments of mortality as "tragedy" because indeed, if you aren't looking through the eyes of Jack as the protagonist, it is rather tragic that Barbossa spent ten years trying to become mortal again, only to die a mere five seconds after achieving this goal.

Some fantastic language in there -- "...to sail the water of the world, until the world itself shall end." Loved it.

funny how this video got out weeks after Johnny Depp won his trial against Amber Heard and that Disney offered him to come back as Jack Sparrow.

Another excellent video, however there is one small inaccuracy and it is something that seems to confuse many people as they are somewhat similar ships. The design of the Black Pearl is not actually based upon a Galleon but rather another type of large armed merchant ship, the East Indiamen. The design of the Pearl is specifically an East Indiamen of the early to mid 18th century which fits the setting well and would be a relatively common ship for the period, where as the Galleon is a ship more common from the early 16th century to the late 17th century, though Spain would continue to use large Manila Galleons until the very early 19th century. East Indiamen were meant to sail the long voyages to the East Indies to bring back spices, tea, and other goods all while being well armed enough to see off most pirate threats as they would often sail unescorted with these high value cargos. The period for PotC is set between 1727 and 1760 as the reigning British monarch is George II as seen in the fourth film, and at this time an East Indiamen would be a far more common sight plying the seas in this period than the Galleon which the East Indiamen is actually an evolution of.

I heard rumors that the Black Pearl and her Captain were sighted heading towards a place called The Sea of Thieves to find something called the golden key.

I believe the Pearl is a hybrid of a frigate and a merchanment she has got enough cargo to hull loot. powerful enough guns to defeat merchment and the odd frigate but fast enough to outrun anythign that can beat her

Can we get Captain Harlock and the Archadia next? The parallels to Captain Jack Sparrow and the Black Pearl are pretty clear, and the duo are perhaps the most famous space pirate/pirate ship in anime history.

There is a real world 106.7 meter three-masted mega sailing yacht built by Oceanco in 2018 that also goes by the name "Black Pearl." While not a mystical armed pirate ship, she's still a gorgeous girl in her own fashion.

Oh man, I just watched the third movie again for the first time in like a decade only a few days ago! What a coincidence

Small detail missed here: Jack not only refused to transport slaves, he FREED an entire shipment of slaves when Becket forced him to. This is referenced in an exchange between the two: "You cost us valuable cargo." "People ain't cargo, mate."

I think the Black Pearl is a very interesting ship after seeing it in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and I think that Jack's ideal of the ship being a symbol of freedom is a very fine ideal. Now if only we could see the Black Pearl in action one more time with Jack being the leader of his own pirate armada, wouldn't that be amazing.🏴‍☠

While the franchise has seen better days, I'll never forget just how much I enjoyed that original trilogy of movies. Yes, trilogy. I liked the crazy madness of how overcomplex the plot got in the second and third.

The Black Pearl, less of an actual ship and more of a motif, because back in the old days when shipwrights like myself would create a ship from beams of whatever wood they could get their hands on back then cuz there was less trees around before people planting all of them they found that if you take black walnut oil and saturated into the wood it dyes the wood black or like a really really dark brown over time if you see a Pirate Ship (Dutch East India Trading Company...aka the Black Hand) in museum and wonder what do they treat that with it's like a really really dark colored wood but it's not the type of wood that they used it's black walnut oil, and over time the sea water and stuff probably leeches out of it and stuff but it should be black I think when it comes off the factory floor, and prevents termites, prevents erosion, prevents Crustaceans, and Barnacles, trying to eat the ship it's a very potent oil that keeps any kind of negativity away and can also be used to make black dye for clothes with it, or paint

So... Sparrow's Origin story.. this is new news to me. Always been the good Pirate huh firmly in the light side though he'd have you think otherwise. Even Hector, since he changed so easily once the curse got broken.. NOW that's a worthy storyline to persue if they want a non original cast era in this franchise without killing it. Since it'd make sense to cast a much younger actor as Young Jack. An most the other heroes weren't around yet.
