It's hard for many of the younger generation today, after years of bitter racial gang warfare, to fathom a Black man being part of a Latino gang. But years ago before racial politics took over, it wasn't unusual for non Latino's to join Mexican gangs in greater Los Angeles. You had whites, blacks, asians, that joined Latino gangs. The movie "Colors" was a good example of this.
